This is my favorite game of the year so far! It's an absolute must-play for anyone who loves narrative-heavy games. Sorry for not doing a voiceover during the credits - I forgot! I'd be happy to ramble about how great 1000XRESIST is here in the comments, though.
It really was an amazing review for an amazing game. Btw just wanted to point out that devs added a Map for the Orchard location in the latest patch (it was a week ago, so probably after you already finished playing ), hopefully it will provide help in navigating for new players.

That the developers were a devised performance and theater group that switched to games when the pandemic hit gives the story and its presentation such a unique feel. Amazing game.
It feels like its taken a while for word of mouth to finally make people pay attention to it. At the time I downloaded it it had about 200 players on Steam. Reviews are coming in at a slow but steady pace. Its such a good game that it really deserves people to know it exists.

There's just so many games released that some good ones are bound to fall down the cracks. It just sucks when it's a game as good as this, but there will be others. Thankfully reviews like this will raise it's profile a bit. It's a possible top ten game of the year contender imho.
Picked up this game thanks to some random tweet praising it on the day of the release, and i am still thinking about it a month later. Phenomenal game. For those who will play it - take your time and I suggest you talk to all/most of the optional NPCs, as it will provide a ton of nuanced context and immersion, which is paramount for a story game.
I always check out bytesized - its so eye opening to many different kinds of games and the way you guys speak of the games never feels like a sell or a condemnation- a "have you ever considered a game like this?" and then talking about what makes it interesting. Lovely work to you Jess.

Looks amazing! The fact you're a clone of the person whose memories you're traipsing through also kinda blurs individuality, as Watcher takes the place of Mother in her own past at times, like an amnesiac living through their own memories.
Does anyone know the name of the song that is used for the backing of this review? I'm assuming it is from 1000xRESIST but would love to hear more of it.
Just a reminder: This game is HEAVILY narrative based, to the point that some may called it a 3D visual novel. But the story, musics, and the vibes is extraordinary. So if you're into that, then go ahead and play it!
One of the greatest narrative driven games I've ever played. It's a must play and I don't normally write reviews or anything like that but this game is amazing
Great video! I started Frieren with my 5 y/o daughter bc it’s pretty and not very graphic (to my knowledge 👀), but haven’t sustained it bc it’s hard w kids lol
Delighted to see more voices bringing attention to this one. I was blown away by it on so many levels - the unassuming power of its writing, the complexity of the ideas it's grappling with, the use it makes of the medium. It has that Disco Elysium spark of a whole new kind of game that came into being fully-formed, made all the more impressive by the fact that it was built with such simple tools. If you care at all about narrative games you've got to check it out, I truly believe it's one of the best ever made.
The music is indeed amazing, as for cutscenes - there actually arent that many classic "cutscenes", most of the scenes are dialogue based and you can skip dialogue lines (it can be toggled in the settings to prevent or allow line skip). So there arent any long kojima-type cutscenes, dont worry, its mostly dialogue interactive ones
None of the cinematics are very long, but I would say they're essential to the game, so if you find yourself *wanting* to skip them, 1000XRESIST probably isn't for you. The music is indeed great!
@@PrettyGrimGames lol... it's OK... have you considered making a few throw endings where you ramble about your favorite artist, musician, or movie so you've got a few in the can just in case?

Nope. "Pandemic" means occurring over a wide geographic area. A pandemic might affect only one or two countries; "global" clarifies that it involves the entire world.

The NPCs are all so interesting, but my favorite is definitely Knower. 💜

This is the same studio as Paradise Killer, I think... Loved that game, and this is definitely on my list.
Kingdom hearts level of stupid name made think this review was gonna be a roast. While the name is rubbish it sounds the game is a gem.
This reminds me of Mass Effect minus the action elements.
