As a, now retired, maintenance and repair machinist it was nice to see you “break out” your digital caliper to correct the cable perch, instead of just taking a guess at a drill size to open up the hole. Knowing good and well… “there is more than one way to skin a cat”, I think I would have taken a file to the aluminum lever, instead of grinding on the chrome, to correct the fitment. As usually, it was nice to watch how you approached the other fitment issues, especially with the exhaust. Long-story-short… this bike looks “stunning” !!… especially knowing from what condition it started from!
Well done Mike! That bike turned out great! You did the right thing using the new parts, simply because the paint turned out good I believe. You turned a pigs ear into a silk purse! Looks like it came right out of the show room, keep up the good work Mike 👍
A 1971 jt1 Yamaha 60 cc mini bike just sold for 5,400 dollars at a auction . So for a 125 cc with a 70 trail frame that's a great build for that price .
🛑🛑 REALLY Nice!😀👍 You inspire me Mike, to take on a project bike. I had the $600 part right, but forgot to add $1k; to my estimate, as to how much you spent on the bike. 😂 I’m looking forward to seeing your ideas, for taking the bike to the next level. 💯 I’m Truly Impressed, how well the bike came out. 👍💯
Lots of little adjustments, but in the end it's a beauty! I would buy one from you before getting an Icebear or Rocky! I'll bet you've made every kind of "adjustment" to bikes by now and know these little bikes inside and out! I think the paint looks fantastic!
Really enjoyed the build, looking forward to the next. Have you ever thought about a little side car build. A grocery getter, parts runner ? Just a thought, thanks again, Chris.
Not the same guy. I can’t think of the original guys name that ran that eBay site, but they’re not the same guy. I think that I did hear that Troy (SoCal) did buy his eBay site and business. For what it’s worth, I bought parts from that eBay seller for years, and I mean years, and never had the first problem with him. But, unlike others, I understood the quality I was purchasing and how he ran his store.
Turned out Great! Didn’t know you were going to throw all those new parts on there so my guess at the cost was wayyyyyyyy off 😂 Exciting to see the how it turned out.
Looks amazing, been following this build cause i bought a really rough red 72 and been working on it, i painted it the same color and found original paint under the reflectors and compared to this color and it is so close to the same you cant hardly tell. I been wondering what clear coat you used and where did you get your cable set from
Awesome content every time brother thank you for your time and effort involved in making these and sharing them with all of us . Do you take on non channel work and if so do you mind saying where you are located ?
Thanks! Sorry, I do not. I did recently take in a project rebuild for a childhood friend. I won’t ever do that again. I was so nervous that something would happen to the bike, while it was in my shop, that I couldn’t sleep well.
you did a great job. that was a lot of hard work I appreciate you posting the video. with all the import Honda 70 clones on the market, which one do you think is the best. I see they make a fuel injected version that has not been imported to the US. thank you.
Thanks. I own a 2022 Icebear Champion and a 2022 Amigo Rocky CT70 clone. I have a few videos comparing the two. Go back a year or so in my videos. Both are great bikes, but require a little tinkering out of the box.
@@BrokeBoyLukas If a bike has the original switch/key, I’ll use it. This bike was missing those pieces, so I use the 3 position aftermarket switch on Amazon. They work great. Link to switch: amzn.to/3X4JPFk
First of all your knowledge on these bikes is amazing. Quick question I installed 12v wiring harness from trail buddy with there 12v bucket and light kit. It’s all hooked up and the bike turns over. Horn works. With lights on low beams the light works and speedo is lighted. When I put it to high beams the speed light goes out and I have no head light. Any suggestions?
The Hi/Lo switch only has three wires: One for power INTO the switch. (Usually brown/red wire) One for power out to the Lo beam wire on headlight. (Usually white wire) One for power out to the Hi beam wire on the headlight. (Usually blue wire) If the headlight goes out when you switch to Hi beam, either the Hi beam filament is burnt out or the wiring is incorrect. Because the speedo light also goes out, it sounds like the Hi/Lo switch is wired as an on/off switch.
@@MiniBikeMike thanks for the quick response. I bought the plug and play 12v harness from trail buddy and it’s all plugs rather than having to connect each individual wire. I’ll check to see how the switch is wired.
If it’s a street bike and I need lights, yes, I swap the original harness for one designed to work with the 12v electrics. I use Trail Buddy harnesses.
I took down those videos. I’m having trouble with the plasma cutter on my plasma table, so I’m not able to currently cut out parts. Hopefully, after Christmas, I’ll have it back up and running.
@MiniBikeMike looking at mine they aren't rusted, so I'll probably restore the originals or polish em up. About everything else will have to be re done. Thanks for the help!
Hi Mike or anyone reading this comment. Is there any suppliers in the US that sell parts or repro parts for ST90s? I’m in Australia and struggling to track parts down. I’m looking for stuff like front and rear guards tail light bracket etc.
That's the nicest looking $1,600 dollar CT70 I have ever seen Mike. Very nice job sir. Love your channel.
Thanks.

Great job Mike. I enjoy watching you do these builds and bringing these bikes back. Like so many. I had ct70 when I was a kid for my first bike.
Same here Eric… I still have my Candy Gold K0 (4/70).
A friend of mine has said, “You weren’t really livin’, as a kid, if you didn’t have a Honda 70!”
Thanks Eric!
This was an absolute awesome build to watch and follow. Great job Mike!!!
Thanks!
It looks great - especially the tires. 👍👍👍 Thank you for the video.
When I first saw the tires, I wasn’t too impressed. But, after getting them mounted on the rims, they’re a decent tire, I’ll buy again.
Recently picked up a '74 in Mighty Green. pretty, no seat, no rear wheel, half the engine. Plan is to clean it up and put a Lifan in it.
A Lifan sure makes them fun to ride.

Yep, that works but, why not trim the lever instead of the perch? All good.🏁
Because if the lever ever needs replacing, you’d have to then trim that lever. This way, any stock lever will always bolt right on.

Nice job Mike🙏

Yes, it is a very close color. I used Rustoleum 2X gloss clear. It is NOT fuel resistant. I get the cable sets from Mikes MiniTrail.

Any chance that exhaust is designed to go around the guard, not above it? I.e. install plate, then install exhaust?
This exhaust was probably not intended to be used with a engine guard. Once shortened, it worked great.
