The Puretech is one of my favourite 3 Cylinder engines to drive. It has good torque and works well with the 8 Speed Auto (no DCT ✅). Just a shame it doesn’t have the best reputation for reliability.
I've been investigating a bit about that reputation... I can't believe how many problems it had, specially for manufacted between 2013 and 2017, is it still that bad or was it fixed? Also, it looks like later this year, this engine will be upgraded with a chain instead of the strap which sounds good right? I wonder if the mhev will be much better option...
@@ren-vl6wq Peugeot had problems with their timing chains with the 1.6 VTi engines. Which were replaced by the new 1.2 Puretech 3 cylinder. I would wait and see, after a couple of years if there are any problems.
@@tzeimet you sure you don't mean belt instead of chain? the oiled belt seems to have been the main issue. The higher engines on the new 408 are 1.6 with chain instead of belt.
@@ren-vl6wq The 1.6 vti (codeveloped with BMW) engines were very well known for timing chain issues. I cannot vouch for the 1.6 PHEV, it’s too new, we’ll just have to wait and see. But Peugeot doesn’t have the best track record with timing chains. It’s still the EP6 engine series, as the old VTi.
Thanks for this nice an informative video^^
In Viet Nam, we got Peugeot 408 with the 1.6 Turbo Puretech - 218Hp - 300Nm - and EAT8, no hybrid or electric
Nice. Thanks.
Does the car have lane keeping assist? The allure version I mean
Nice video
In Ukraine we have 215 HP petrol 1.6 engine with 300nm of torque, no hybrids unfortunately, 0-100 is 7.9. Same engine 408 goes to Dubai as well.
Kakoi rashod y 1.6?

@@tzeimet 1.6 PureTech in PHEV configuration (and not) is already at least 5+ years old. Aisin EAT8 is very reliable.
nice looking car, but isn't the steering wheel too small for the car ? It looks to me litle bit funny ?
