    Wow, I thought it was the other way around, although it made sense AFTER READING THE DESCRIPTION and noticing that the Reverend described its tone as "traditional 50's". A seemed hotter, which is why I thought it was the Rev. So, yeah, apparently I did liked the Rev's sound more (which is why I thought THAT was the Tele), since it can be more, in my view, more versatile, more easily shaped into other thing. I assume the Pete Anderson's are slightly hotter and more scooped than the Trickshot's?

    • @MasonMusicRocks
      @MasonMusicRocks  3 роки тому

      That’s a good catch- I definitely am drawn to the Reverend tone too. I’m not sure about the PA compared to the trickshot t-style pickups. I’ll have to do some more reading- we don’t have a Pete Anderson in stock at the moment.

  • @pseudonomous
    @pseudonomous 5 років тому

    I will bet the reverend is A, with the warmer sound and the telecaster is B with the brighter, thinner sound. I'll bet, though, that if you roll the treble off a bit, you can get that same thin sound with the reverend, making it a bit more versatile.

    • @pseudonomous
      @pseudonomous 5 років тому

      A bit surprised to learn I was wrong at the end. Too bad that Fender doesn't have a bass contour to let you get both that super thin sound and more warm, balanced sound, but it definitely sounds pretty good. I've got a telecaster with a similar traditional bridge + neck humbucker and some kind-of black magic five way switch that is one of my favorite sounding guitars of every guitar I've every played. Not really the most comfortable to play, but sounds awesome.

    I liked the sound of A a little more as it was a bit fuller. I was wondering if you had some of the bass rolled off using the bass contour whilst recording the Trickshot. Two extra bolts on the neck are going to help it stay in tune better? ..... No.

    • @MasonMusicRocks
      @MasonMusicRocks  5 років тому +1

      Perry Codes if the Reverend website is to believed, yes.
      From the website:
      “Two extra bolts increase mounting pressure of the neck by fifty percent. This makes a stronger neck connection, which improves sustain, tuning stability, and neck alignment.”
      I’m guessing the tuning stability is a lesser effect compared to the sustain and alignment though. I wonder if they’ve done any tests that prove it...

    • @jc6721
      @jc6721 4 роки тому

      I'd be interested to see if anyone has modified a fender with 2 extra neck screws. I know people are doing the metal inserts mod in the neck for these same reasons but this might be easier. Drill two holes in a neck plate, 2 more 3/8 holes in a fender body and 2 more 1/8 holes in the neck. Drop in 2 more screws and see if it improves anything... could be a fun experiment with a cheap guitar.
