When I was attacked I fought and struggled, he seemed annoyed more than anything, called me b**ch etc.
I suddenly remembered hearing somewhere that you are supposed to strike the neck and temple with your ellbow.
It was weird, like a voice that popped into my head although I was full of Panic and Adrenaline.
I managed to knock him unconscious, the fight was over in seconds.
In the end, the predator had made the mistake of overestimating himself and underestimating me.

Really good advice. In the same vein, boxer Tony Jeffries recommends the solar plexus punch as one of the high value targets in a street confrontation for the same reason Tim presents here.

If you for example train in boxing you can quite easily target the chin and knock people out on the streets , so why not the throat which is such a bigger surface area? Because hitting the groin or throat etc will incapacitate somebody immediately and this scares us and is quote unquote taboo .But if somebody is trying to kill you or a loved one what will you do ? You can only fight real violence with violence . Being a medical doctor I also wanted to point out that behind the muscle on either side of the throat known as the sternocleidomastoid runs the vagus nerve . The commonality between the throat , liver , spleen and eyes is the vasovagal response which causes people to faint or worse, the result of a precipitous drop in blood pressure and heart rate . It’s not something that can be dealt with and overcome with will power . The vasovagal response is an inevitable ‘evil’ .

Love you man. My first comment. Not related to this wonderful video.... always great advice... you mentioned in another video if you get control of an attackers gun to not try to shoot the person because you have no idea how to use an unfamiliar handgun. Is the safety on? Where is it located? Is there a round in the chamber? He'll, is it even loaded? Too many unknowns in such a critical moment. Pistol whip the bastard. Smack him across the temple and take him out.
Another random comment.... I've never heard any self defense gurus say this, but I would like to offer my SUPER DUPER POOPER LAST RESORT MOVE! This is only to be used when the punch is about to land. It got in and you weren't ready... I have found a technique proposed by none other than the greatest, Mohammad Ali, "Block with your head." Don't take a punch to face, drop your head. Headbutt their punch and break their knuckle. Then, in a thick Russian accent say, "You hit like one of my sisters. The small one."
I know, crappy advice, but better to take a punch to the head than the face or temple. OK, going to your site to sign up. You're the best target focus

You're not the on person providing what I think is great info, but I don't know if you can do this without the negative consequences of scumbags learning what they would otherwise need to be arrested, convicted and incarcerated to learn.

It's an interesting area to pick apart. What is it that makes the people who say you cannot target under pressure say that? What are they doing in their own heads and their own training that produces that less than useful result for them?
    Then you have two options:
How do you improve on what they are doing so you don't make their mistakes?
How do you exploit the failure/s in their thinking and training against them?

  • @VTPSTTU
    @VTPSTTU Рік тому

    Thanks for the video.
Are there any target areas that are bigger than one square inch? Could those be better for someone who isn't able to achieve great accuracy in training? I don't have any depth perception, so I don't target things well. If I'm having to throw a punch with any element of sideways movement in relation to the target, I can be off a bit because I don't know how far away the target it. Many areas on the diagram that you showed seemed very close together. Is there a chance that one might target one spot and hit another?
As I watched the first example, I wasn't sure how much the fighter really targeted the temple. Once he'd thrown the kick that caused the other fighter to fall, I would expect any knee to the head to hit a spot that would do tremendous and effective damage. If he hadn't hit the temple with the knee, he might have hit some other point on or around the head which would have a similar effect. Am I completely wrong about this?
Is the spleen a better target than the liver?
If I feel that I'm not good at aiming a full-power strike, would I be better off taking some power off the strike and trying to aim more effectively or would I be better off putting full power on the strike and hoping that the strike would land close enough to the spot?

It helps a lot to come to TFT with an open mind and a slate willing to be written on. It's different than most systems in its' training and targeting aspects. I've always found that training procedures slowly then ramping them up has worked the best for long term retention and accuracy. Appreciate all you do.

Without looking at any other videos... was that a spleen or a floating rib shot? Or a combination of the two. I say that because those ribs are delicate as well, and I'm not sure of specific spleen only shots.

Tim, there is a variable worth mentioning, adrenal stress induced heart rate and fine, complex, gross motor skills.
MMA trained fighters keep their heart rate at about 145 this maximizes complex motor skills, this situation is very different from a violent criminal ambush assault which causes adrenal stress induced heart rate to go to 175, this complicates things.
Do you have video examples of perfect successful targeting under the conditions I mentioned.
If you data differs from mine please let me know your source.
Thank you in advance for considering my question.

  • @pinkydavis6113

Boxing, Kick-Boxing, and Muay Thai practitioners all target the vulnerable areas. They achieve success by first developing the delivery system that the "martial arts and crafts" types generally don't. They're able to make use of these weak spots by attacking them with a volume of strikes. Some get through, some don't. Some are effective, some aren't. They also spend time developing defensive skills so they can stay in the pocket and deliver which is also something that the "martial arts and crafts" guys tend to neglect. The problem with these "combatives" guys is that they've only theorized about fighting. The point is, don't take swimming lessons from someone who's never been in the water...
