Very important to mention it is a twofold city, being old and new, retaining its ancient Cantonese heritage in the west and the modern city in the east. The night lights, particularly in November each year, when all of Guangzhou celebrates its annual light show is something to behold.

I was in GZ for 7 months
... It would TAKE a few years to see all of GZ and the many beautiful provinces around. Great shops - food, clothes shoes, antiques, gold, jade, art works, animal furs... Beautiful Chinese fabrics, bags, silk... One of my favourite cities in China... Guangzhou is so rich in history, culture and tradition.

As a merchant marine engineer, I visited Shanghai a few years ago when we delivered our ship there for dry dock repairs. I was amazed at that city, but Guangzhou looks to be on a whole different level. Say what you will about the Chinese government, but you can't deny that they are building world class cities and at the rate they are converting to green energy, it looks like they will solve the air pollution problems very soon for the benefit of the Chinese people and the rest of the world too.

I was in Guangzhou last summer before the evid 19. Very nice. very impressed with the development. Interesting that many people in that area are from outside and do not speak cantonese.
It's amazing to see how many more migrant workers are coming into GZ, you're right last time I was there I also noticed more Mandarin being spoken
Were you in tianhe district? If you go to yuexiu or liwan district, you will notice that a lot of ppl speak Cantonese, and most importantly, Cuz you were there for traveling, local people don't really show up in the scenic spots, only the tourists and visitors. That's why you hear most of people speak mandarin
@@goodkanga2275 my wife's family is from GZ, all native Canto speakers, everywhere we go Canto is spoken, but what I noticed that even at hotels and restaurants throughout town, many of the service staff only spoke Mandarin.

Thank you for the footage. What's more attractive of GZ to me is the traditional part, the food, the people in the street and so on. It's a pity that we couldn't see them all in this video.

2 places in Guangzhou impressed me, one is Chen jia temple, ancient architectures in south China, one is Huangpu military academy, many heroes in our country studied there in the past.
