I've been trying to identify what plant this is in my garden, and now I'm sure this is it. It has really spread and wants to take over my garden and grow up into the lawn. I had some other perennials that it has smothered and won't grow anymore.
I have mine in a twelve inch hanging pot in full sun. It is hanging down about two feet, and blooming profusely. I prune the longest branches back a little to keep it's shape. A light pruning gives more blooms.
It will not grow in total shade , but tolerates early morning or afternoon shade. It needs a minimum of 4 hrs sun to flower well. In total shade the foliage is thin and flowering is greatly reduced. Also prone to powdery mildew in total shade.
