I just ordered this watch (actually the special edition version which comes with a metal strap) and when I watched this video, I was quiet relieved because the shortcomings that you stated are not that bad to me. I loved this watch but the screen stopped working after 3 months. So much for being rugged and waterproof.

it's around £50 now, better than most other watches in the market. despite having so many problems, it's a good deal.
