Mr Douglas Tappin you are one of my heroes now. I must meet you one day you are so inspirational. How comes I am only just finding out about you. How unique is this man a Lawyer, now Opera composer...good Lord. Mr Tappin thanks for sharing. I could listen to you talk for hours. God bless you sir.

I agree. And yet there seems to be an irony here, for part of his message is that we should not be persuaded by his charismatic appearence, style and rhetoric... Brilliant!

I've always known this stuff, I'm not too good at rhetoric myself, but it's nice to hear him talk about it. So many people talk about the art of rhetoric and why it's something you should learn but only a few, Susan Cain comes to mind, talk about how the most outspoken often aren't the wisest of a group.

Bringing me back to my philosophy studies. Too bad we no longer have profound sane and healthy debates.

This is not a rethinking this is just a critique of sophistry in favor of rhetoric as was argued by Aristotle and Isocrates.

8:45 onward: The answer to the speaker’s question is ‘yes’. The masses decide their own fate. Or, someone else (in a dictatorship or plutocracy) decide the masses fate.....including the minority’s who are ‘sweep away somewhere’ or are ‘marginalised’.

People who are good at rhetoric are more convincing but that doesn't mean they're actually right. So treat convincing people with more scrutiny and give unconvincing people the benefit of the doubt because rhetoric is a learned skill and not everyone got to go to big brain debate club in school

Truth alone kills. Love alone is powerless. Balance is also essential. God.
