Check out this 1999 Hugger Orange Chevy Camaro SS - known all around the world as the HOSS.
In 1999 General Motors (GM) only made 375 HOSS Camaros with T-Tops, out of those 375 only 174 were Manual 6 speed cars! This is an SLP (Street Legal Performance) Build #1373 Born December 4th, 1998.
Hugger Orange was only used by GM in 1969 and 1999. They only used this paint color on the Camaro, never to be used again!

I brought this up. K Swapping my Iroc, but all my friends beat the crap out me for bringing it up and I got fired from my job. My wife left me and took the Honda. Now I’m couch surfing and need to toe my Iroc with a blown engine.
I love the IROC... I was thinking of doing one of those but couldn’t get one for a big V-8 project

There is no replacement for displacement but this k swap is perfect for a track build. The car will be lighter than a v8 better for the corners. Plus more room for a turbo. You will just need some coil overs cuz of the weight difference. Can’t wait to see this finished

I see I'm not the only one to remove a 5.7l v8 and install a smaller engine! Make sure you can still get the back two coils out, dosen't look like much room!👀

Reminds me of f1, when they took the heavy v8 motors out and threw in a smaller turbo motor making the cars faster.
My dream motor is that formula 1 Honda V8 the 3.5 L I believe. If I can get my hands on one of those oh boy!

This is amazing! I wanted to swap in a Mercedes Benz M120 V12 into my 96 RS but not gonna lie I did ponder putting in a K series into the camaro a few times. I love this!

With that long front end. That Camaro might end up being a front mid-engine car. Build a 850hp+ K24/K20 head and that could be a circuit monster. Light, great handling, balanced weight distribution. The sound might not match the look but it would be an awesome racecar.
I’m thinking about doing a k20/24 build for a Pontiac Firebird. What transmission are you using?
Also would an S2000 6 speed work too?
Dude that’s awesome! I love the Firebird!! I’m using a BMW ZF5 speed trans oh that’s 2006 speed will also work it’s all a matter of finding the right adapter plate! If you do it let me know it would be cool to do a video together and have them side-by-side
@@HOSSgarage I’ll definitely be sure to keep you updated. Getting everything in there wouldn’t be that big of a deal. But engine and transmission mounts will probably be the biggest problem. I’ve got a 1979 Firebird that was originally going to be a SBC swap that ended up with the block being trash. Then I saw this video and went “now that’s a helluva idea”
I’ll follow your build and maybe try and use what you’re doing for inspiration, as I’m relatively new to K series and Honda 4 bangers in general.

I've been thinking about either putting a k series or a Barra in my 92 caprice
My media question is why are you using a BMW transmission? Is zippy because it had to be done like that? Would it of had still worked with the V6 or V8 Camaro transmission? I’ve been wanting to do a case swap for so long in the 1998 Camaro is one of my favorite chassis, So that’s why I’m asking?

I’ve been considering the Honda K24 swap into my 1st gen 4runner. I was thinking of the k24 mated to a Th350/400 to the Toyota transfercase

One question. Why so far back?
That set up has to be lighter then the 350 and trans that was in it. Plus if you have to change plugs or coil packs.....
New engine plate has it farther forward.

The only thing I'd change is to double and triple check that if something goes wrong, your hands are out of the way. I owned a 1984 with the Iron Puke TH700R4 many years ago.
Always wanted to do a Pontiac Solstice motor, made since at the time as it was the Technology available in those days.
I currently own my dads old 71 C10 V8 and daily an 06 CR-V after years of rocking a 98 EJ8 Civic and owning a bit of everything makes me love shit like this.
Definitely not the first “4 cylinder Camaro” but definitely the worlds first “4 cylinder Honda Powered Camaro” Pontiac solstice engine sound cool too! I love third gen camaros!

I’ve been looking into alternative power plants for the C10 LS LT and Electric
And after seeing GM put Turbo four cylinders into the Silverados
I’d imagine this is a cost effective way to lighten up the truck, increase power over the stock 307 it came with and possibly see mileage gains while enjoying Honda tuning in an unsuspecting package.

Briefly, but I’ve since changed to front engine plate mounting. MadSceintistAuto makes em. Eric Jarvis is the guys name
I just spun a bearing in my trans am and v8 crate engines are lookn like 6-8 bands so a kswap seems cheaper
k series motors are relatively cheap under 800 bucks and even lower. however, the rest of the swap is costly... still a lot of fun though!

What year K 24 is that and what is it out of?
I thought about this before but the lack of torque on a heavier car will be noticeable. In-line six is a good choice as well. Although the top end or high revs from a k series might make up for it.
So it basically turns in to a Chevrolet Super S2400 :-)
I my Camaro SS blowes its LS a Honda engine would be a cooler swap

Contemplating making a service panel or may just have to do it like the pro Porsche teams and just drop the motor down to do it. I’m just excited to be doing it regardless
@@HOSSgarage if you look up k24 swap Porsche therevis a guy in Canada who made a custom valve cover that is not as high to fit in his swap set up if me up on Instagram messages and I will try to pull his info ... I was looking into all of this before I scrapped the idea for my 4thgen fbody..

put it to ya this way: If i took half the money i spent on this project so far I would have a 9 second v8 car for the same price. Its a labor of love. Money don't grow on trees and you gotta take your time with builds.. I'm in no rush but I got a bunch more to do..

What did the adapter plate cost?
A lot! It was like 1500 bucks. I need to do an update video… I got rid of that adapter plate and have a different one for a different transmission it’s much more sturdy and for more horsepower transmission application.
I didn't know what they charge for an adapter plate, but yeah that expensive

So all this for 250ftlbs of torque in a 3300lb car? Even gutted you're looking at a sub 2700-2800lb car. Would've been far better in a Chevette or Miata
