  • Documentary revisiting John Davidson, who featured in a BBC film about Tourettes syndrome in 1988, and 15-year-old Greg Storey, who the cameras met when they revisited John in 2002. Greg is now the same age as John was when he first took part in a documentary. How does Greg's experience of being a teenager with Tourettes compare to John's, and how does John's life continue to change?

I'm gonna be honest and i don't mean to be offensive at all, but this is freaking hilarious!! Again, i'm not laughing at the disorder or the suffering of the person that goes through this, i only laugh at the most random things they say along with their tics.

Aylla Sousa I'm really saddened by what I just witnessed here. I think he's the sorriest, most pathetic excuse for a human being that ever walked this earth!
If I was his friend (or god forbid, a sibling) I'd probably pretend not to know him. I'd be too ashamed and embarrassed to let anyone know that I had any connection with him whatsoever.
In fact, I'd disown him outright for his inability to keep his foul, inappropriate and offensive opinions to himself. He clearly should (and I am sure, does) know better. I blame his upbringing/poor parenting.
      But enough about Angelo Flores!
John Davidson is an absolute legend!!
His courage, compassion and self-deprecating humour, make him someone I would be proud to call "friend"!
I'm sure John would laugh right along with you, Aylla.
      Your conscience should be clear.

Studies have shown that swearing is good for you! Swearing is a great way of non violent stress release, which make people who swear less stressed and less violent. People who swear are also more confident people and have been shown to be more honest and trust worthy. People who swear a lot also have more friends as they are better at expressing themselves in social situations. Science bitches!

My brother has a friend who was diagnosed with Tourettes last year. I had the opportunity to ask him what it feels like when you tic. He said it's crossed between a hiccup and a very dry cough - you know its going to come, and no matter how hard you try to stop it or hide it, it's going to come out one way or another. Now times that by 100 a day. That must be so terrible.

  • @GermanSausages

It is so interesting to see that it's almost always the "bad" or "forbidden" words people with tourettes use.

The kid, Greg, however, is quite clearly NOT suffering from Tourette syndrome. He has been positively conditioned to receive attention when he acts out, which has lead to a learned behaviour. You can see in his eyes he loves the attention he gets from it, even if it's just at a subconscious level.

I can't imagine to live with someone with Tourette syndrome. It must be really hard also for people around this persone like classmates and teachers in a school or common people in shops and streets. Especially who every moment shouts dirty words must be constantly apologizing.

I was thinking the same thing. People with Tourettes deserve the same opportunities as everyone else BUT it must be torture to live with someone or have to be around someone frequently who has this syndrome. It would be too much for me to handle.

Thing is, you don't need cannabis to help you out with this. I have Tourettes Syndrome and all I use is will power. My tics used to be pretty bad, so much so that I could not concentrate and study or speak coherently. I decided that this damn disorder isn't going to control my life and so I started controlling my tics. Of course they happen every once in a while now, but not to the extent of my past occurrences. I honestly see cannabis as the easy why out of controlling something.

@tehfuxx The way they explained it in another documentary is that a lot of people with tourettes say whatever pops into their head which is usually the worst thing to say in any given situation. Like this one kid would say "n*****" anytime she was around a black person and she would also yell "bomb" in an airport.

You know though, it's society that makes them feel like outcasts. if people would just accept others for who they are, they wouldn't have to feel ashamed of their outbursts. They shouldn't be ashamed of nothing. They are who they are, and should be accepted no matter what.

  • @thatswhatisaidyeah

Whats so strange, is that it seems with the first guy it's just not about SAYING or ACTING OUT the tick, but about directing it TOWARDS someone. Some with the condition, like young kids, just make sounds, or wierd movemnets, That tells me if a person is already normally shitty inside, tourettes will reflect how you really are.
