    For all the haters out there who call this fake, I did some math and calculated the approximate speed using the doppler effect.
    Feel free to repeat and confirm the calculations and measurements yourself. And please correct me if I did something wrong. It's currently 5:20 am but I can't sleep, so some errors aren't unlikely.
    So first I downloaded the audio of this video into Audacity, and set it to spectrogram view. You can then see the frequency change from high to low as the drone passes the microphone on the ground.
    No, I just measured the frequency of the lowest peak form before and after the drone passed the camera:
    f1 = 1588 Hz
    f2 = 961 Hz
    I assumed the speed of sound as c = 340 m/s. It probably was a bit slower as it looks to be quite cold outside in the video. But its effect isn't that big.
    Now plug that in into the formula for the doppler effect with the moving source:
    (1) f1 = fs/(1 - v/c) -> Quad moving towards camera
    (2) f2 = fs/(1 + v/c) -> Quad moving away form camera
    I just solved that for fs and v and got fs = 1197 Hz and v = 83.6 m/s = 301 km/h
    Now you might notice that my result is about 75 km/h lower than in the video. The problem is that the frequency change in the audio took about 1.4 seconds. In this time the quad increased its velocity from around 350 to 375 km/h. The rpm of the motors likely also increased a bit during this time, increasing fs. So it's really hard to accurately measure the velocity this way. However, my calculation still shows that this quad was fast as fuck :D

      This is the most beautiful comment I've ever seen. I wouldn't have thought to measure the doppler effect on this. Nice work! This quad is impressive but the flying on this channel is even more so.

      full respect!!

    • @DahBenni
      @DahBenni 3 роки тому +17

      Great job :), but there's one more thing:
      I don't know where the pilot is standing in respect to the quad, but obviously not exactly in the flying path during the approach. I assume the pilot was standing right side to the quad, maybe 30 m? Because of this, the frequency change has this 1.4 second duration and you would also consider this transverse angle, which then will increase your virtual speed.
      In Addition: If we would know the flying level (height) and the engine rpms, we could be pretty precise with the calculations you started.

    It for sure is fast as heck! Awesome power, and from the video it seems at least 250kph, but to believe it's over 375 I'd need a speed gun. The moment you reduce throttle and go into the turn, it just seems so slow. Yes, you are pretty high up and the higher you get the slower any drone feels in the air. But that still feels a lot slower than 80-120kph in the turn.

    • @quadmovr
      @quadmovr  3 роки тому +14

      i dont care if people believe it or not. havnt posted it to claim anything. validated it for myself right after the flight the way you mentioned. the brown field starting at the dirt road is ~142m long, it takes 35 frames to reach the end, which are 1.408s (dvr fps 24.85), which results in an average speed of ~363kph for the length of the field, where the quad is still accelerating.

      i can imagine that people dont believe it. among other things because they dont know the most important parameters such as height, cam angle, fov etc. but foremost because the most have never seen this speed from that kind of perspective. and perspective is what is most deceptive. the less knowledge the louder the fake screamers.

    • @JoshuaBardwell
      @JoshuaBardwell 3 роки тому +14

      GPS velcoity is typically accurate to within 0.5 m/s or less. It is very very accurate.
      The method of flying between two locations and timing it is actually very inaccurate, especially when timing is done using the FPV feed. A tiny change in altitude or pitch angle throws the measurement off completely.

    Weiß man die ungefähre Drehzahl der Rotoren und ob man dabei mit den Flügelspitzen an die Schallgeschwindigkeit rankommt?

    Nee, hab mal grob nachgerechnet...

      I'm going to start writing it kmph.

    • @rfly-fpv
      @rfly-fpv 3 роки тому +6

      @@LeesEBR Hmm, but why? Basically by writing kmph it looks like kilo miles per hour :)
      There is very good logical reason why / character was chosen. It because it avoids confusion and scales up for any unit as you have clear separation between them. In let say meters per second you would need to write mps (m/s is correct way to write it), for centimeters per seconds it would be cmps or cps (cm/s is correct way to write it).
      One of the goals of metric system was to have units the same on entire world regardless of language or region. More than 90% of world population already use metric system. Also think of km/h as two divided symbols. You don't want to put another "symbol" which is not a symbol in between as all will blend and produce mixture of symbols and words. There are many SI units and if we would like to be consistent we would have to use "per" in every context. For example one Watt is one Joule per second. To follow that "p" for "per" rule we would need to write it as W = Jps. This makes symbols unreadable as they merge together with p. W = J/s is much more readable. One Pascal or pressure (following p approach) should be written as Npm^2 instead of N/m^2. In addition it could be interpreted as Newton times pico meter squared! :) That doesn't make any sense.
      That's why it's better to agree that every unit symbol division is written with "/". That's exactly what is done in SI (International System of Units - simply metric system). Also symbol for kilo is "k". Prefixes are case sensitive. "M" is mega (power plans power is in mega watts or MW), "m" is mili (medicine drug could be mili gram or mg). "k" is kilo, so the only correct way is to write velocity is: km/h (not Km/h, not KM/h, not km/hr).
