Before your sprouts are cooked and when they’re still bright green- try bicarbonate of soda,tip of the teaspoon and take off 5-10 later or a few minutes if you like a bit of bite. Holds the colour and softens them almost instantly and is beautiful 💯👌👌👌

Monday and Tuesday looked divine, and guilt free! Getting chilly here, all of these hot meals looked divine! Now, I'm off to my cold salad...😢
@@WhatsForTea be prepared- it’s aggressive on contact with boiling water- if it looks like it’s going to overflow just immediately take it off the heat a few seconds and then put back for the remainder minutes
You can do this with peas and cabbage and it will turn out beautifully…x

Dunure is so beautiful. I'm like you and love to watch meals of the week to get an idea for my own week ahead. Meal planning can be such a chore sometimes. TY for your hard work. The new crockpot stew looks so good. I can't wait to watch it as well and give it a try. We have loved everyone of your recipes that I have cooked so far. You have me craving baked beans and mashed potato every week. My son asks for your Mince and Tatties. Love ya.
I LOVE that you ignore the "Carb police"
Back before I got married, we went to visit my future in-laws in Stonehaven. Husband to be took me into Aberdeen and bought us Stovies from a truck near the harbour. I remember thinking I hadn't tasted anything so good!!
So, now, no in- laws ,no hubby, am loving your videos for your accent, for your food and for the memories , 😘
I listen for the accent too, because she reminds me of a friend I have in the north.
Once, in the Dominican Republic, I had been out with my ex and his friends all day and hadn't eaten. They were drinking beer at a place that only served beer, and I don't like beer. So when we got home at midnight, I was working on the biggest headache of my life. I asked if he would go to the corner and get me a coke from the fruit stand which was still open at that time, so I could take some aspirin (because I couldn't drink the water there). He came back with some pork sandwiches, and I think it was, to this day, one of the best sandwiches of my life! Nice, thick slices of pork on good fresh bread, grated carrot, green tomato, mustard, ketchup, mayo. I wasn't expecting it, and it was divine, and I have never had one since

Your stovie reminded me of cowboy beans. In our old west, beans were a staple food and easy enough for cowboys to carry and cook. A chuck wagon cook might cook up beans and add whatever was available including what was left in the bottom of the coffee pot. I use hot dogs and whatever meats we have leftover. I add barbecue sauce and maple syrup to taste. It’s so easy with canned beans. I love your videos. They sure are inspirational. Thanks! 💜💜💜

If you take the balls of doom slice them in half and roast them in the oven at 400 for about 15 minutes. The decime sweet and delicious

The whole weeks meals look soooo good, I am chomping at the bit to get started on making that chicken chaser and the cod in butter sauce.
Thank you for sharing with us. Everything looked amazing. Today, (Canadian Thanksgiving Weekend) is cool and rainy, which makes every meal here look even more enticing. Never heard of 'stovies' before today but I can almost smell it from the video. Appreciate that you take the time to share all of this with us.
ps: For TGD we are having scalloped potatoes (with cheese, chives, green onions, & sour cream), turkey, an apple/onion stuffing, carrots in an onion sauce, roasted Brussels sprouts. For dessert, I made a pumpkin pie with a Bischoff base and raspberry shortbreads.

Peas in a curry? My late mum did that too so nothing unusual there. Plus peas are usually found in chip sho0 curries.
I'm pleased to see I'm not the only one who uses two pouches of the cod in butter sauce, one pouch is definitely not enough

Hi Cheryl, thanks as always for sharing your delicious looking family meals of the week.😋 I make my chicken curry exactly the same as you, peas & lots of onions, still with a bit of a bite to them … and a handful of chips on the side - more carb police reports … rice & chips!😵🤭 All meals looked great but your stovies & steak pie dinners really got my mouth watering, just what we need on these cooler days & nights! I’ve tried to avoid putting on the fire or heating these past few weeks to keep the bills down, but have just sadly had to admit defeat, temp in house had dropped to 14° & I was starting to get the shivers 🥶, getting soft in my old age!🙄
A visit to the butcher’s in order for me this week to get stocked up on ingredients for a big pot of stovies, internal central heating! Hope you have a great week & take care. xx 👩🏻🍳🍲👌😋🍽️💕💞💖
I don't know if it's exactly carb police 😅. In my case, it's Envy, bc my dietitian would make me choose between the mashed potatoes, the beans, OR the bread. I just watch and sigh....
I want to marry someone with your accent who can also cook these sumptuous dishes.👍

As usual your video is interesting. Plan on making steak pie this week also. Still have my old butcher pie achette that we have had for about 40 years.
My grandmother used to make stovies, hated them, always came out burnt and tasted like charcoal. Took a lot of ketchup to get them down. Really enjoy the end of your videos, get to see a part of Scotland that I haven’t been to. 🎅🏻
