They need to make a movie where 1 continent on Earth is completely lost (nuclear war/radiation in an attempt to destroy Hives, uninhabitable by humans) but also colonized by the standard Xenomorph hive. Fast forward years later and, we see more exotic & deadly Xenomorphs making it across the ocean, and transmorphing humans into eggs (like in deleted scene of Alien) in an attempt to establish a hive.
We join the team of hive hunters who are called for Xenomorph sightings, and dispatch any infestations or any transmorphed humans. The team sees an massive increase in sightings & attacks, but just assume it's the bugs doing their thing, but in reality it's Weyland-Yutani experiments that escaped. W-Y is breaking a bunch of laws (again) conducting experiments in Xeno-free Safe Zones. W-Y BioWeapons Department successfully created new weapons (Predator nod, as audience will notice some weapons resemble those in Predator, & possibly W-Y imprisoned a predator too) new armor that are acid RESISTANT and detection technologies studying the bugs. Our guys are called in to squash a hive that established questionably fast & undetected, already having a producing Queen with praetorian/guards, & drones. (unheard of on this continent for 100 years!)
Big s'plosions, tank chase scene, cool new guns blasting shit, and a couple of our newly beloved characters get killed. The reveal/betrayal is only revealed to the audience, W-Y of course gets away with it and the weapons/technology "test" was a success. Some of the team survives to set up a sequel to take back the infested continent with their new W-Y weapons, then hunt Xenomorph infestations throughout the galaxy.

in alien resurrection, weiland yutani doesn't exist anymore and since several decades, it's quicly mentionned in the director's cut. This could mean a massive disaster put an end to the galactic civilization and only a few institutions like the army could make it out.

In the first Alien book that WAS canon until recently: The xenomorphs destroy earth and 90% of the human population is killed off. Xenomorphs are kept in some lab in Europe for study until some cult frees them (thinking they are Gods) and the Xenomorphs multiply so quick that the army is unable to respond fast enough. It gets convoluted after that but the basic premise is that the earth is destroyed by the Xenomorphs and humanity is forced to move towards other colonies and space stations.

I just bought those books, reading "Earth Hive" at the moment. They are not canon anymore? Why? =(

RedTeamReview I enjoyed those books, especially the revelation about Ripley and how they planned to take care of the hive on Earth. Would be a better film than Alien 3 or Resurrection. You can buy the book trilogy as one big paperback these days too.

@Ryn Argos i never finished the whole thing because they went off on this convoluted plot. what happened to earth after the aliens took over? do you remember?

    • @Natbotmk3
      @Natbotmk3 7 років тому +29

RedTeamReview I'll agree that the plot gets a little convoluted, but eventually the Marine and the girl from the first book meet Ripley on Gateway station and they put together a crew to capture the alien queen mother on the xenomorph homeworld. This alien can communicate with and control all aliens and queens. Long story short they get the queen mother to earth and drop her off in a valley mined with a huge amount of nuclear weapons that were supposed to be used during the original infestation but couldn't be set off because the planet was overrun so quickly. So, all of the aliens across the planet are attracted to her. They set the bombs to go off in several months so most of the hive will be with the queen mother when the nukes light off. So the book ends there, a little vaguely but in Alien: Genocide they mention that the bombs took out most of the aliens and the humans are retaking earth city by city, cleaning out the remains of the hive. Ripley disappears into myth, probably figuring out her place in the universe since it is revealed in the third novel the she is in fact a human perfect replica android with all of her old memories and that her original self did indeed die in Alien 3.

Well the reason it was likely cut out is because the scene made no fucking sense at all. If earth was in that state then it would have been utterly pointless to risk their lives to prevent that ship crashing into or landing on earth.

    • @KB5RYE
      @KB5RYE 7 років тому +9

If her actions resulted in centuries passing before aliens could reach Earth, that was time for hundreds of millions (if millions a year) moved off world. By the time of that scene, you could have half a billion or billions of humans living away from Earth when a plague hits and essentially wipes out Earth. But the species is fine, living on hundreds of colony worlds.

I never cared for Earth being a desolate wasteland in the Alien universe. What is there to fight for? Especially for Ripley. Does it become one long quest for revenge? Having Earth still be a place worth fighting for gives Ripley and any other characters a focus for their drive to face what is obviously a life and death nightmare that they would much rather walk away from.
In Aliens, Ripley is a reluctant hero. She wants nothing to do with fighting the xenomorphs, but the thought of what the colonists might be going through is too much for her to endure. Her conscious overrules her fear. In other movies, she mentions Earth and not wanting to think of what might happen if the xenomorphs made it there.

I liked Resurrection. It was the bloodiest Alien. It explored the DNA side of the Xenomorph & had the Ripley clones that look very similar to the Neomorphs in Covenant/Prometheus. I wrote a fan script of Alien 5 which takes place on the Ruins of earth. With a Mad Max style tribe that lives in the ruins of a mega city. One of the queen eggs survived the crash of the spaceship after Resurrection. Now it hunt the tribes people. Ripley & Ryder are the only ones who can help the people.

  • @andrewquick4176

The reason Ripley says she's a stranger to Earth at the end of Resurrection is because she is a clone. She is not Ellen Ripley and the dialogue is indicating that she now sees herself as a new and separate person

Why do all "Alien" fans dislike Resurrection so much? I personally thought it was a really good film, it was fun, action packed, had some really cool special effects, the alien/human hybrid was great and yet all I ever see about it is hate. I just don't get what's so bad about it. Sure it's not a patch on the first 2 but then, that was always going to be a big ask. But as sci-fi horror/action movies go, there's hundreds out there that are far worse..

@ThomasLeichardt Oh Brother. What a weird time in my life lol. I had a lot of fun with Lucy back then. Things really got crazy during the pandemic. I was getting paid more than I made at my job just to stay home. I was getting 100 tabs of pretty good acid for $300. In a 6 month period I spent about $1200 on acid. Went 7 days with mo more than an hour or two of sleep multiple times. I did acid again for the first time since 2020 last year. It was a lot of fun, but it's not something I can back to doing regularly. I still micro-dose shrooms here and there, but I really just eat edibles and take dabs. I haven't drank alcohol since I got into LSD lol. I did develop a crazy nicotine addiction from all my acid use though. I also narrowly avoided being suckered into Q Anon during my acid stage.

The crazys her being a queen may have been the reason since the embryo ((according to director interviews)) was also a queen; we know from the comics they will fight for dominance if necessary, so I would imagine she didn't want the competition esp in an area with so few hosts to gestate her own young
That's my own thinking anyway, looking forward to seeing a video about it myself

(Though eventualy getting an actually good AvP movie is a concept I believe in.)
But where noone ever said AvP movies were canon in any way, which they aren't, the canon existence of Resurrection still mocks and fucks up the whole franchise! The one thing that does damage needs to be retconned, which is Resurrection.
Though what's the use of being a fan when Covenant will also ruin the franchise...

    • @brenntantor1634

I am the fan of "the genetic possibilities" of the ORIGINAL classic default biomechanical xenomorph species bloodline introduced in Alien, Aliens, and Alien 3.
What I am really a fan of is expanding upon the ORIGINAL classic default biomechanical xenomorph hive breeds and creature occurances that might develop/appear by chaning their environtments, their mental permissions or pheromonal capacity to evolve, and most importantly the hosts in which they come across or obtain to impregnate! On the subject of how they obtain hosts may be the place where I would expect bringing in the more complex philosophical elements if needed about humans and their possible innate urge to dangerously explore everything and all that jazz. I would introduce unconventional hosts with lesser-showcased stages, like a King Cheetah Drone, a Red Kangaroo young Praetorian, or a Komodo Dragon gritty damaged Warrior.
However I am NOT a fan of overly theatrical and thus comical characters appearing, and certainly not a fan of any European art-house emotional cinema element implemented by any director who doesn't even speak english!
The franchise for me is ONLY about body horror viewed from a scientific angle and each and every film must contain and elaborate upon the ORIGINAL classic default biomechanical xenomorph hive structure's inhabitants.

I've mentioned this before on this channel (I think) but I would kind of like to see an AVP movie with actually colonial marines that the movies never provided. I never thought seeing normal civilians gearing up to fight would be boring but somehow the director and screen writers managed it. But oddly enough I did like the Predators and humans teaming up in the first movie and even books.
Or seeing how in the games it's hinted that colonial marines aren't really 'the' military have a marine try to infiltrate a WY facility to gather information to bring them down a few pegs. Maybe the drop ship gets hit by (plot device here) and now the marine has to infiltrate from the outside. Perhaps along the way he or she finds a wounded predator about to (plot device here) that's how they team up. Also there's little to no talking as both can't speak the others language unless its a shout to alert the other of danger- oh non of that crap about talking to someone or thing that cant understand you that movies seem to do! Either the two find a type of sign language or drawing crude hieroglyphs in the sand I don't care as long as there is little talking. I know the idea is dated and most likely lame but it's sure better then the movies were!

Some fan theories even suggest that the decrepit status of earth could have been caused by a combination of nuclear war, environmental pollution, plagues, and general abandonment for other colonies elsewhere in the far reaches of space. +++++ I always thought it was insane that if you do the math Ellen Ripley woke up in Alien thinking she was almost on Earth about to see her daughter. Only a few days pass in Alien. Maybe a few months while she's hanging out at the beginning of Aliens and the mission appears to last a few days as well. Then she lives a few more days in Alien 3 before sacrificing herself to kill the Alien. That's like a short 3 months or so spanning at least one century! Furthermore, if you take into account Alien: Resurrection... she then gets another couple days hundreds of years later. My point is, when she fell asleep right before Alien began she probably didn't expect to meet, greet and then destroy Xenomorphs over a period of several months with her awake and centuries asleep.
    She deserves a nap.

Anyways what ISN'T accounted for is that - Sigourney Weaver played five Decades of the same character in five movies no recollection of her ever it's the only one that I know of in the history of Television movies or broadcasting which makes me think it's got to be a demon-possessed operation of course.

Interesting theory. Though you cannot throw out the Predator Series or the AVP movies as they are part of the same universe. Also comic books and movies are two complete different things. That's like saying that the Marvel Comics and the MCU movies are related when they are not.
Earth may have been overrun by the Xenomorphs some time after the events of AVP: Requiem. I only say this because The queen in AVP wasn't exactly confirmed dead and there was no guarantee that the nuke in AVP 2 killed them all. Though it seems Earth is still safe when Predators came about. Thinking too much about it, what if Weyland-Yutani are working with the Predators and the humans sent to the alien world are also meant to be possible colonists to pave the way for humanity before Prometheus? Just random thought but I feel if anything, humanity's life on Earth must have been in the decline during the events of Prometheus.

What happened to Earth? It was infested by the aliens (although I can't fully remember how, other than the usual "Wey-Yu fucked up"). I do believe humanity managed to take it back, but I don't remember if it was described completely. Source? The trilogy Earth Hive, Nightmare Asylum, and Female War. Also, the Colonial Marines are controlled by the government, not the Weyland-Yutani Corporation. They very often work closely together (and do at times take their orders from the Corporation), but they are still a separate entity. This is explained in great detail in the book River of Pain.

Aliens landing on Earth would be an endgame event, unless the Earth is soo overpopulated that there was nowhere for the aliens to hide...
I'd like to see an all out Earth war film, no taking the guns away from the marines, or running out of bullets. Just humans doing what they do best, trying to make every other species extinct. Top Earth predator, aka Humans, against the hordes of Xenomorphs.
Also... forget about that black goo, its lazy writing. Just keep it like the Alien films before Ridley Scott decided to mess up his own franchise.
    Contents...
    - Acid resistant armour
    - Auto turrets
    - Synth combat armies that the Xenomorphs don't immediately see as a threat, giving the synths the edge
    - Modern weapons galore
    - Armies of Earth, locked and loaded with all manner of technology
    - Alien hives to destroy, with air support
    - APC's speeding around, like Batman in his Batmobile in Justice League. Destroying armies of Xenomorphs
    - Engrossing well developed characters, that you care about
    - Maybe even Predators being seen in the background, using Earth as a training ground
    - 1,000's of Xenomorphs in huge battles
    - Military power armour
    - Civilians trying to survive, and most likely losing

What would be ironic, would be if it turned out Jones the cat carried the plague to the Earth (he's the only survivor of the Nostromo to get up close to a Xeno and survive). That's it, he brought on Xenomorph fleas! But that's just too silly.
There is another possibility, that it's due to the Predator crossover. So imagine, as we had in AVP: Requiem, another Xenomorph colony turned up in Paris. And taking the Predator's "scorched earth" response to an extreme, either we, or the Preds' nuked the city (it's the only way to be sure).
Or the Preds' may have had this fight going on with the Engineers for a very long time, we got sucked into it, and they decided to ravage the human species for stupidly trying to carry on in the footsteps of their creators.

I think there should not be a new Alien movie. What was it that made Alien great? It was an almost perfectly executed movie. Everything came together just right. Brilliant sets, costumes. Brilliant actors and a very convincting moster. It was a movie that appealed to instincts and fear. A sexualized, invincible horror, lurking in the shadows, picking up it's victims one by one. During the movie you only see the Xenomorph for 4 minutes. It only appears one hour into the movie. The film lives of it's suspense and hopelessness. What makes it timeless is it's execution and appeals to subcontious archetypes.
Alien 2 gave us something else. It is more action and character driven. With Hicks, Newt and Ripley it has a family dynamic. It shows Ripley in action, taking back from the Xenomorph what it has taken from her: A daugther. It starts just as atmospheric and slow as the first movie and then becomes an action movie. It also gives the audience what it was hoping for: More Xenomorphs. It is a completely different movie and because of that it has become a classic of it's own.
Alien 3 could have been a good movie if not for the notoriously troubled production. How did it play out? It had the corridors, dread and hopelessness of the first movie. It tried to use archetypes and a religious symbolism. But even if it had pulled off all of that it would have been only an echo of the first movie. We have seen the Alien. We have seen the Chestburster. We know what it does and we know you can't stop it. Why make another movie? Is there really a story utilizing the Xenomorph that has not been told or could be told? Is there really shock value left in a beast that has been a cultural icon since decades? Is there really a convincing way to surpass the first movie, using the same creature?
PS: I almost forgot, there was a 4th Alien movie. You got to give it to the creators that they seemed to be aware that most things you could do with the Franchise had been done. I compliment them for the courage to try something new with the movie. Unfortunately they failed. The story is contrived. Ripleys cloning process is not how genetics work. The whimsy and comical elements don't really work in a franchise that started out as gothic horror. The creative possibilities of 'Alien' are exhausted. This is why it was wise of Ridley Scott to take another route with Prometheus.
