I don't think I realized how much I missed these full experience reactions, my dude!! Should I deep dive and find some BTS you haven't heard? Challenge accepted 😂

This song always reminds me how wonderful it is that Tablo (from Epik High) has really become a friend to the rap line. I can’t even imagine how surreal that must be for them. I think Suga’s wanting to be there for younger idols has some roots in how Tablo was there for them. He just seems like good people, you know?

This song is my example of cultural appreciation Vs appropriation. They knew from the beginning who their inspiration was and they always give credit. It’s amazing how many excellent songs they have almost no misses in such a huge catalog. And live the songs hit better.

Thank you for your reaction, John! The best thing about BTS is that they are so consistently good. This song reminds me of their Suchwita conversations; when J-Hope and Suga talk about RM and Yoongi teaching Hobi to rap, V talking about the rapline making them listen to music (the rapline made a playlist, lol), even Jin talking about how the rapline insisted the vocal line sing live. Full respect to the rapline, their talent and indomitable focus on the musical development of BTS as a whole group formed a solid foundation for the integrity of their music and allowed the vocal line to discover their own musicality. Yes, please to the return of the deep dives! I always enjoyed those. How about their 2014 "Let me Know" - this is a heart-wrenchingly beautiful showcase that proves even early BTS is gosh-darned good.

I'm honestly surprised you haven't heard this until now. It's usually one of the first songs to get recommended because it shows their authentic love for the hip hop genre. Guess you fell through the cracks on this one but I'm glad you've heard it now. 😄👍💜

    J. Cole is one of Hobi's BIGGEST idols. He's WHY he styled his stage name as J-Hope and why he named his first mixtape "Hope World."
Hobi was so absolutely over the moon when he got the chance to meet him at Lolla that he was nearly lost for words. (clip here: ua-cam.com/users/shortsNoxHV1W1CIo )
And "On the Street" begins (deliberately) filmed in the same alley that J Cole filmed Simba from The Come Up.

You are making me happy with your reactions to my "guilty" pleasure BTS. I also come back and re-watch your reactions to Voiceplay and of course, my favorite, PTX! Can't wait for you to react to their new music coming out at the end of this month...a whole new Xmas album, and I suspect they will release something else soon, since I Rise was released...I think it's going to be a surprise of classics and a few new tracks. They deserve their Lucky Ones album to get more play but Covid didn't allow that to happen. They do a medley of songs in their summer tour, so that was cool to watch. I love your story AND I love your honesty, and your knowledge of music. Thank you for making this former pill addict and compulsive gambler, almost 61 years old now, and off everything for 3 years. I give all the credit to music, and to content people like yourself. Keep being you!

Before I found BTS I didn't listen to rap, had a bad impression of it. This was the first rap song that spoke to me. When reactors are new to BTS and are into rap I always recommend they listen to this song.
Apart from the lists of the names some of the lyrics are so real, and all balanced by the vocalists choruses, and I think Jimin's growl at the start.

I really love the full experience reactions!! So glad you're getting back into them 😁I actually watched the watchagot2say guys's reaction to this song the other day (though it was an old video) they got just as excited as you. Watch you guys all react to it has given me a new appreciation for the song 🥰also all the YES to the rasp in Jimin's voice 🤩 I love when he does that - he only ever does it live never on the studio versions of songs

see and this is why i couldnt and still dont understand peoples reactions to jack harlows verse or even lattos. if you listen to any of the artists mentioned in this song nothing jack harlow said would surprise you. and bts ALL of bts including the vocal line are inspired by these hip hop artists otherwise they couldve EASILY made this a rap line only song. they had rap line songs by this point they had cyphers and other rap line songs so the fact the made this song a ot7 song shows this is not just about the rap line but the entire group which includes jungkook. and look now jungkook is about to collab with another rapper called central cee from the UK. jk has also been dancing to a lot of uk rappers lately on tiktok. people should research these artists music instead of complaining about the songs jungkook agrees to make. there shouldve been no reason for armys reactions to latto or jack harlows lyrics. armys should already know hip hop music enough to understand the collabs.

Thing is, BTS took the musicality of the genre and put lyrics to it that didn’t offend me on a personal level. I’m learning Korean just to understand what they’re saying, whereas I would probably only listen to more of the songs they were inspired by if I couldn’t understand English. I’m not saying all hip hop songs have terrible messaging, but you can’t deny the pool of songs gets a lot smaller when you filter out the misogynistic, crude, and sex-centered stuff that I personally have negative interest in. On the other hand, off the top of my head I can only think of three songs that fall into that category that BTS has done: RM’s Expensive Girl and now JK’s 3D and the explicit version of Seven. That’s THREE songs out of their entire discography (including their solo stuff) that I would filter out, and they have a lot of songs. It’s why I’m a fan of BTS and not the artists they were inspired by.

@@CreativRtist but if you cant appreciate the artists who inspired bts you cant appreciate bts cause bts are a guest in hip hop. its disrespectful to say you like non black artists but not the black artists themselves. also real life is crude, sexual etc so many other genres also have such lyrics but people have a disdain for hip hop and rap and its due to unchecked anti blackness. bts would never accept fans who disrespect their idols btw. also many songs like converse high, cyphers 1verse etc have innuendos that are "worse" than any of the 3 songs you mentioned.
