I never thought it would be fun watching a small equipment mechanic and then I found you. You have all the knowledge to get things done plus you have this great personality and you're so cute too. 😀
The rest of the story is that It was so great I bought it, but it is lost under a foot of crap and broken tools in my shop, and hasn't been seen since the day it arrived.
For me, it’s more, I know I need that tool but where the heck did I leave it? Or which of my friends hasn’t return it? Or that would be handy to have but I’m not paying £25 for something I know I’ll only use once, so back to the hammer+drift or spanner with scaffold tube. Or I bet it just needs a larger hammer and or a micrometer gauge.
You are one of the best producers of You tube videos I've seen. I'm 77 years old and thought I was pretty smart about mechanics, but you've taught me lots, and made many things easier than ever. Thank you.
As usual very helpful video. I don't do small engine for a living. I love it when people throw things away. I bring them home and find in most cases it just needs a carb or an adjustment. Then I sell them on Facebook and make a few bucks and have self-satisfaction and fun. Keep the vids coming thanks.
I have a home shop in the basement, I have most of these. They are all great tools to have. I started around 10 y.o. from the teachings of my father, bought myself a 10×12 shed when i was 12 with my profits and took the Foley Belsaw course, then when that got boring I went for bigger projects later lol. I was a car mechanic for two decades until I became disabled and went back to something a little easier on my body a few years ago. I love your videos! Ty for the informative videos and sharing tips for the public. Something I've always wanted to do but too shy and closed off.
What you have in your hand is a Kelly clamp. If you use your thumb and ring finger you will find you have much better control of your instrument. Friendly tip from a retired nurse who worked in surgery for 30 years.
2:31 my Depstech boroscope has been a very versatile tool for cheap! Not just for checking my car/mower cylinders, but behind drywall, in vents, under a leaking fridge- just anywhere you can’t get your eyes easily
I've got a smaller gooloo and they are amazing. Battery went out on my 2500 silverado, jumped that truck from full dead 5 times off one charge. Beast of a machine. I don't think it had been charged in a year either and went thru a tough florida summer in the truck. Also that bore cam for inspecting pistons is brilliant
Hi Chicanic I fired up my Mantis Tiller today fired up beautifully, after watching your Mantis Video I rebuilt my carb last year, its running great this year thanks for your videos they are very informative.
Scissors. May I add scissors to the list of tools. Harbor Freight sells a 3 pack of Scissors by Quinn for $4.99 and they are excellent cutters!! I've used them on many different materials and they are amazing. There are 3 different sizes in that pack. I don't know how they do it for the price but there you go. Thanks Bre!! Love your list of Tools.
At your request and recommendation, I have purchased the endoscope, and I also have the speed head. Cool tools!! Very happy with both purchases. Thank you Bre!!
The Echo SpeedFeed 400 universal head I bought from the local Echo dealer does fit curve shaft trimmers. Just need to use the white insert provided in the package and flip the reel.
Tool number 11: Battery tender! Lawn mower batteries will last much longer if you use a tender(years). I have brand name but also cheap Harbor Freight brand and they all work Great! Use them on anything you don’t run for more than a week. Keep up the good work. Enjoy your videos
My absolute favorites are my ratcheting screwdriver, quality ratchets, my propane "weed burner" torch, air compressor, and my Makita brushless impact driver.
The last "tool" you talked about, you commented that it doesn’t fit stihl, it's because stihl has their own. I have a stihl "bent shaft" trimmer and it's head works the same, but looks differently, I was told by the dealer to take about an arms length of wire and feed it through (about 6')! Works flawlessly, I highly recommend
Awesome video. A tutorial on adjusting carbs specifically so you don’t run too lean would be great! You may have touched on it already but I don’t recall
I really bought the blue Holtzforma 660 upon your recommend; it’s real hard to start. Saws like crazy! I found that if you buy a Stihl, non recoil cover. Just drill about an inch hole in the center, you can start the saw. Use a deep well socket on a good drill, the drill turns flywheel fast enough to start the saw easily! I’m going to use locktight on the flywheel bolt. Seen it on a video!
@ 68 years old I'm glad I can still learn something new. On a previous video you claimed that putting string trimmer line in water would rejuvenate it. I have a Ryobi battery string trimmer from my kids for Fathers day last year. I put some 0.80 string in it and it bunched up in side and the string broke off. I took the head apart cleaned all the dust out of it and soaked the string in water for about 30 minutes. I put everything back together and was able to use the trimer without further problem. Thanks Chick
I have the Dewalt portable compressor and love it. I keep it in my truck. My favorite thing about it is how it shuts itself off when it reaches the pressure you selected. When you hear it shut off, it's done.
Damn I’m glad I found your channel! This VT girl loves to be independent and to not always have to rely on my spouse, he works 12 hour days and sometimes I just need to get 💩fixed and get to using it.
The trimmer head you featured here, I bought a 5 pack of china copies and modified one to fit a 25cc homelite curved shaft trimmer model ut33600A. It now will ratchet the opposite direction. Made a piece to adapt to 8 mm rh threads out of a 1/2 bolt drilled and tapped in the center. Way cheaper than buying the originals for that trimmer and easy to use.
A little disposable pipette trick, grab the pointy end with a needle nose plier and pull it, it will stretch and leave a longer, much finer tip to dispense through for finer work.
All good equipment and great info. The BEST gift my wife got me is the B&D "Gyro" screwdriver. The one that is little, stays charged forever, has torque, fits in the palm of my hand and responds to twist of the wrist left and right. 1/4" hex drive so all those driver bits can be used. Had mine 5 years. At the top of my list!
Sadly, that model of the "Gyro" screwdriver isn't available anymore at any normal retail outlets. I checked for hours at every place I could think of and at every single seller it was "out of stock", "discontinued", or "newer model available"(not the same at all), etc., etc., etc. Even on eBay they are so rare that they have been offered for sale at outrageous prices as high as $129...no kidding! Every single review or person extolling its greatness has said "If you find one, BUY IT!!! Thanks for the heads-up and I'll be keeping my eyes open at garage sales, swap meets, flea markets, etc., as I just have to have one now! ;-)
I repair friends, family & neighbors machines & few of the first tools I needed was of course an impact wrench , spark plug tester & battery charger. Most of the average tools I already owned. Dig the vid thumbs up
Nice, I love all those suggestions, I have most similar items except the RPM reader and power supply. Don't work on small engines but the power supply is on my list. Thanks.
After watching this video i got The Depstech DS300 today its really nice! Me using it in our shop is going to be great! Now i can see inside those cylinder wall very clear! Thanks for your tool tip! sweet.
Thanks for the tips!! I have a small yard so I went battery powered for the weed wacker and blower. Don’t miss starting those temperamental 2 strokers!!😅
My 2 friends and I each have a MS262c. Runs good through tank of gas. Refill, won't start. Let cool for 30-60 minutes, will start. All 3 do the same thing....when it is hot out. Live in SE Mo. Watch all your videos.....LOVE them.
Might be set to the winter setting. There is a "door" or "valve" that changes airflow around the carb. If it is set to winter, it might be the carb is overheated, giving you a vapor lock situation until it cools back down.
I got that Dewalt tire compressor as soon as it came out (when it was around $90 at HD) - probably one of my favorite tools. No excuse for not leveling off your car tire pressures each month with one of these.
Another great video. I could use some advice if you got any you’re not using. Husqvarna weed eater. It will crank, dies when I pull tigger. I have tried everything. Cleaned the vent tube filter. Blew air thur carburetor, checked fuel filter an changed fuel lines. This stuff is not as easy as you make it look. You do have a special gift. I’m a jinx myself.
Great video, I have been a small engine mechanic for 30 years and added heavy duty 25 years ago also. Top tip on the carb adjust kit, I will be getting one of them for sure. Have a great day, subscription added.
I worked as a fleet (shop forman) mechanic and took care of alot of small engines on everything , on the water check we had a paste that you would put on the end of the stick to check big fuel tanks, turns purple when water is there, keep up the great vids,I also put fuel shutoffs on all things that had to travel to jobsites, bounces causes the floats to fill engines with fuel, (hydrolock)
We used that stuff in the Navy when sounding fuel tanks on board ship, no clue of a brand name because everything was packaged differently and didn't display a company name just things like "Lubricant, Small, Arms"
I have a bore scope camera that plugs into my cellphone...can take still pictures, or do video recordings...not too expensive, since only need the cable/camera and free APP. Then, I can email, or text puctures via my cellphone!
I have only followed you for a short time but have learned so much! Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge and experience. It's so satisfying to be able to work on my own equipment. Have a great day!
Solid advice on the tools. I also keep a dental pick, magnet tip and extendable flex head mirror. Things happen and my fingers are more like cigars than cigarettes. Also as a tip: I buy only a gallon of gas at a time for home use. That way I have to get fresher gas as needed.
@@mikeskidmore6754 I've experienced into the 2nd year with straight gas in a push mower having minor to moderate issues. I've also used gas with stabilizer in my weed eater into the 3rd year with no noticeable issues. Not that I'd recommend it, but I thought it was interesting seeing how it's said gas spoils after a few weeks or a few months with stabilizer.
@@dbutcher84 My Gas lasts a long time stored inside an Insulated shop out of sunlight .. It's hot sheds hot sun that breaks down gasoline ..I started a chain saw the other day that had not been started for three years on the third pull ..
I saw your video pop up on my you tube choices, and I thought… hmmm… I haven’t seen one of your videos for a while. UA-cam had unsubscribed me from your channel. Of course I resubscribed. I don’t know why they do that. Love your channel!!!
Great suggestions, I agree and have most of these tools. I'd add alligator forceps to complement the hemostats. These can reach far down in a tiny hole, and just the jaws at the tip open. You'll be so glad you have a pair the first time you need them!
I bought one (Tach) on Amazon $20 about, works but danged if I can make out the Chinese/ English instruction, "revalutions per week" that's how it starts out and it get's worse from there, fuddeled around with it and got it to read properly for two and four stroke, good enough. knowing comes in handy.
Well, I texted you on Instagram. It’s now 7:40 PM here so I would imagine you’re probably in bed so when you get up in the morning then read this, shoot me a note back.
Gotta say, your vids are the best and you are great. Best on UA-cam. Steve's Saloon is okay and Donyboy is excellent. They have their strengths. But your channel, they way you go over things, is superb. Makes me want to come out of retirement and fix some stuff before I die. I wish my doctor was as thorough with my well-being as you are with machines.👍
The easiest and most reliable conventional wind head is the one on my Husqvarna 128LD, one of the best trimmers ever made, IMO. Very intrigued by the Speedhead.
Nice video and very informative. Since watching you and Steve's Small engine saloon, I have been able to keep my equipment running for a lot less than always sending it to the repair shop. I will say that I don't get to in-depth with repairs but just keeping up with normal maintenance and cleaning is always a good idea. Thanks and stay safe.
The one tool you missed that I discovered was indispensible back in the '60s when I had my first metric motorcycles is a manual impact screwdriver. The only way I know to get out the phillips head screws holding case halves together, among other things. I have several of the tools you mentioned here. Looks like I may need to pick up a couple of them.
I know what tool you refer to. They were popular with mechanics til cordless impact drivers grew beyond deck builders. I used to use them but tech made them obsolete.
I agree with @mrblanche. Cordless impact drivers will just strip the heads on Philips head screws. I have a manual impact screwdriver I still use for motorcycle case bolts that haven't been changed out to Allen heads.
The Speed Feed head... sounded like such a good idea that I looked into buying one for my Echo trimmer... uh, Echo? Waidaminute.... I go look, and find out that yes, the trimmer head I've been taking apart to restring for years... is a Speed Feed.
Love the power packs for camping also I use mine every day in the yard and in the garden working and watering the garden 🪴 so nice when you need power and don’t have extension cords to run that far no problem thanks for the must have tool review I would have to agree that all are a must have. LETS GO💪🏼
I have a 30 odd year old Snap-On pry bar that's my most beloved tool...I dunno why, but I've grown to love it despite its bright yellow handle. I'd fight to the death to keep it..!
Great video, don’t know how I have lived for so long without that borescope and those cool German pliers! Amazon lady will be here tomorrow with my Chickanic tools lol.
This is one of the better videos chickanic has made. I need to get a tachometer and maybe a bore scope. But as usual a bridge too far. Remember you can buy echo stuff everywhere or Amazon however Sthil let’s say has better control of franchisers. Plus my rule 1 is to dump out the gas and install an engineered fuel. True fuel etc.
When I saw the title of this segment, I almost knew for sure you would mention the Wera 1/4 drive socket set. Although not mentioned, I’ve watched you use it quite a lot, in fact I bought one myself. Thank you for showing it to me, I absolutely love it. 6 point sockets in a compact 1/4 drive swivel head ratchet. Perfect.. thanks again for ALL your instructions.
I will check out the power pack. I was lugging 12 Volt Marine batteries with a small inverter into a pasture I to provide 110 power, but that power pack sounds less cumbersome. [Lighter too probablyp. I truly concur on Hemostats. Long ones, short ones, curved ones. Since I got some I find my self grabbing one on all sorts of engine and mechanical repairs. Makes holding or retrieving tiny nuts, bolts, springs much easier. I would add a small magnetic probe (also a bigger magnet on a stick for when a spring or a small screw drops somewhere.) I needed a big one just last night to find one of those tiny, pesky 'C' retainers that sits on the end of bar tension screw on one of my McCulloughs when it sprang across the room while trying to slide it on the screw. I waved the magnet over the floor, and lo, there it was. Useful.

My Gooloo GT4000S should arrive tomorrow. I wish I had seen this video earlier because I was looking at the Noco GB70. I found better results on UA-cam with the Gooloo, so I'm glad this video makes my choice for the Gooloo more promising. Thanks again for the video.

my boy has that dewalt compressor as he has the drills too...that thing is well made an so nice to use
Good to see you again Bree
Well, I texted you on Instagram. It’s now 7:40 PM here so I would imagine you’re probably in bed so when you get up in the morning then read this, shoot me a note back.
Thanks for posting this info! I’m a new Stihl tech and ordered the endoscope and some other tools from your list. Thanks again 👩🔧
Love my Echo speed feed. They have come so far from my first Echo in the early 80's with the foam disc inside.
Gotta love the versatility of hemostats
The easiest and most reliable conventional wind head is the one on my Husqvarna 128LD, one of the best trimmers ever made, IMO. Very intrigued by the Speedhead.
I've got a smaller jump starter pack to take on motorcycle trips, and it does start 8-cylinder engines too!!!
The one tool I would add to your list would be a good quality spark tester.
Been looking for video that showed a bracket to go on weed eater to raise Handel for cutting ditches
@@michaelmustachio5318 The hand impact screwdriver is a powerfully clever tool, since it actually engages MORE with each blow, instead of less.
LETS GO💪🏼
The tire inflators also work great as a low pressure air blower.
Thank you Chick
Thanks for sharing your knowledge and keep your videos coming please.
Useful.
Valve spring compressor tool
Assortment of long needle nose players
Safety glasses
Oil and fuel extractor
Digital caliper for measuring small increments
Feeler gauges
Spark checker
Multimeter
Infrared digital thermometer
Tire bead breaker
You are SOOO helpful!!!
Please keep your vids coming! LOVE them! ❤
My Gooloo GT4000S should arrive tomorrow. I wish I had seen this video earlier because I was looking at the Noco GB70. I found better results on UA-cam with the Gooloo, so I'm glad this video makes my choice for the Gooloo more promising. Thanks again for the video.
Your welcome! I gotta get myself a new one too. We plum wore ours out. We used it everyday, multiple times a day though.
boy, i added a lot of stuff to my amazon wish list....lol. you do have some cool tools. thanks for sharing.....
Great information. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
I use a few of those tools daily as well 😊. A magnet on a stick is a game changer too 🤣 .
Love my speed feed heads! Any time I buy a trimmer now, a speed feed is destined for it.
S and curved shaped Hemostats are extremely useful.
