I’ve watched countless videos on tuning drums, with countless different techniques and I have to say… your videos and this app is the first time my drums have actually sounded the way Ive always wanted them to, thanks homie!
That’s amazing :) so glad to hear it, thanks for sharing!
I am from Brazil and I enjoy your work a lot. Post more videos.
appreciate this video. takes alot of guesswork out to read the hertz
2:30 Bottom Head 166hz
4:02 Top Head 88hz
Nice tuning
cheers friend
I (beginner-ish level) suck at tuning drums, so I rarely even attempt it... Especially as I have a cheap kit...
This was awesome...
I started with what I'd picked up off some other videos: [I pressed on the hoops then finger tight... depress head... then 1.5 turns each lug ( in .5 turn increments ./ star pattern (5 lugs - sigh))... depress head... then back off .5-.75 turns...]
Now I've played the 166Hz sine wave, and tuned the head until it stopped making sympathetic beats (in tune). Then flip and do the same with 88Hz... I have trouble hearing the pitch of the drum for some reason... but when playing against the target pitch, it was super easy to get the pitch correct.... well, as best as can be done with 5 lugs - I guess..
Every once in a while, I was able to get a tom to sound decent, but the pitch would more or less be random as to where I ended up. Now I have an audible target. So far... awesome! Thanks!
Ya better spend a shlton of time tuning.retuning.going up.goimg down.just spend days doing it and you'll figure it out
@@NintenDub Excellent advice.
After my initial comment, I practiced snare tuning and decided to buy a new snare.. Went to GC, tuned up a few, and a cheap one sounded amazing... So amazing in fact, that when I went back to purchase it 2 days later, someone had stolen it. :O (I still suck at tuning, but practice definitely helped / is helping!) Thanks for the comment!
The tone sounds good prior to the tape. I don't believe in putting tape on drums. Nice vid 👍🏼
😮
What app did you use to get the hz
Drumtune PRO
Just ran across your page. Awesome job! On the Drumtune Pro, are you switching to the specific drum tuning. (tom/floor/kick)? Or leaving it on the snare tuning for all your drums?
I always just leave it on the “Basic Tuner Snare Standard” not sure if that’s the best way but it’s worked for me!
@@HendyBrah definitely sounds awesome to me! Keep doing what you do!
This video was very helpful, quick question, what tuning settings would you use for the batter and reso for a 14x16 floor Tom and a 16x14 floor tom respectively?
For the 14x16 ( I'm thinking of this one as 14" diameter 16" deep) maybe start around 120hz batter and 220hz reso. Just a starting place though.
For the 16"x14" ( 16" diameter 14" deep) maybe start at the same place as the 16x16 and see how it feels?
@@HendyBrah I appreciate the prompt response. I'll definitely take note of that, and I'm assuming those frequencies would work the same with the tune bot?
They should! @@ErnieIthier
@@HendyBrah Sweet! Also last thing, I was gonna say its cool to see you featured recently with Worship Drummer, I remember seeing you back in the day with Desperation Band at NJ youth convention at Fountain of Life Center in NJ and you guys were to this day my favorite group I saw at youth convention. I thought your drumming was really solid and I only had been playing drums at the time for maybe 2 years or so, but since then moved to Cali back in 2014 and still playing thankfully 😅. But I noticed you started putting out more content so I'm gonna make sure to subscribe, keep killing it bro! ✊🏽
@@ErnieIthier Oh man! That's amazing :) I remember that event really well. So cool you were there and so great that you're still playing all these years later!
Is there Ann app for tuning drums
DrumTune Pro :)
Jared, what frequencies would you recommend on a 14” floor Tom ?
Try 120hz on both the top and bottom heads... an maybe a little gaff or a moon gel :)
Nice. Is that a John Grey and Sons?
Just a Pearl Masters :)
What app do you use to tune the drums !?
Drumtune Pro! I'll post all in the info in the descriptions for the videos shortly
thanks! you are the best Jared thanks for your advice!
You can also achieve that without any duct tapes
What app is that?
It’s called “Drumtune Pro”

Is this 16x16 or 14x16?
16x16
What frequencies do you recommend for 12" and 13" toms?
Here is a video on how I tune 13" toms - ua-cam.com/video/bBBDtk01Aws/v-deo.html
For 12", check out this chart - www.tune-bot.com/tunebottuningguide.pdf
Great job, sounds like a wet cardboard box.
