This is the biggest problem current collectors and many dealers have when selling..... they love their cards too much. I go to most shows with $1000s available to spend, and usually leave only spending a small fraction.
BS only way to collect is to be ahead. Know what your going after, and oh HOF / Rookie HOF. You don't need the high dollar cards . Take your time ,time always comes back. Trust me.

I'm loving this channel. I wrote you guys a PM, but you never responded. I have inherited 100's of tobacco cards from my fathers estate that I need to sell. He collected antiques for over 50 years. I have already been on Antiques Roadshow with 5 of my Ty Cobbs. I also have 1000's of basketball, football, hockey, garbage pail kids, Star Wars cards etc, etc, etc...Like Ben in this video, I have collections of many different things that would make your head spin. I have a town in my back yard, and each building is filled ceiling to floor. Come on over, seriously, I need to liquidate.
That guy wants you to take all that junk at over ebay ask. Then op top of that he already hand picked the good shit out. Im not sure if he is simply uneducated or greedy af. I would have respectfully left immediately and let him rummage through and list for the next year of his life.
He either lied and never had a shop all of those years ago and just bought into the hype of the last two years looking to cash in quickly or he is a longtime shop owner and still living in 1995 prices where everything was Beckett high book. I’m going with the latter because we have a shop in my city where the owner is in his 70’s and won’t move off of his prices yet when all of the junk wax spiked in price during Covid, he was more than happy to raise his prices with it. He literally has had wax boxes in his shop for the last 35 years that have sat there so long that the covers have faded.
I'm from Syracuse idk we're this shop use to be but we have nothing in Syracuse a couple spots but after seeing shops on this channel our shops are swag

Glad you have a new video out. The first guys is a card shop/dealer and has the dealer mentality, so you won’t get prices to resell. The last guy’s place is like a museum of cool stuff. I have been to Texas many times and it is not the best place in the US, Mike’s opinion. I think your forgetting the heat that you’re in and having a slight stroke. Barely ever hits 100 in Colorado. 😂
COLLECTORS: Pay ATTENTION to what they are saying - TOO MUCH modern stuff. That should tell you everything and what NOT to collect...UNLESS you love modern. Notice that they REALLY didn't want MORE of that. NOTE how they don't want it all...but are cherry-picking (which I don't blame them). Collectors - you NEED to understand that MOST of what you have is unwanted and NOT desired. Be careful what you buy and how much of it....otherwise you'll be stuck with 50K of unwanted cardboard. Do YOU want to be that person? I know I don't.....

Its a tough habit to break for people that have done shows and had shops since the 80’s. I used to skip tables at shows back in the 90’s where guys didn’t have their cards priced because they all just referenced hi book in Beckett. Comps today make life so much easier.

Love your show but I don't understand this with the 1st collector: You encourage him to go to COMC & tout their eBay relationship (even though COMC sells direct for cheaper). If you're spending money traveling around the country, why not offer a guaranteed flat amount per card whereby you pay XX% up-front and the rest based upon listing and selling on eBay or directly? In essence, don't tout COMC but compete against it! FWIW, I could tell from the look in your eyes you didn't want to leave it behind when you had an ACTIVE SELLER. I don't get why you cannot compete against COMC instead of encouraging it. Why?
First off, thanks for watching the show. Second, we do NOT consider ourselves competitors to COMC, hence why we recommended them. They have a great service that we use, highly recommend COMC in certain situations. Third, I can guarantee you Ty & Mike DID want to leave behind that collection....at that price.
For one that old fart was not going to move off of his prices and two, put yourself in these guys shoes and money. Would you have really bought all of that junk for $50,000? The same crap that the same dealers at shows have thousands of and can’t give away in dollar bins. Based on body language those guys couldn’t wait to head for the door.
First guys collection is the kind his he’s going to get 5k for in 10 years when he finally decides to just clean house. Way too much printed from 2019-2022. Just like 87-92 all over again.
He’ll be lucky to get 5K at anytime in the future because at least some of those rookies are just starting out and have some value. Once 99% of them are out of the league in 5 years, they’ll be completely worthless.

You ship them your cards, they post and list for you on their site and eBay.

Beckett prices are decent, doing eBay comps is so random you can sell a card for $100 & 2 minutes later another one sells for $30

ebay comps are all that matters my guy.. 100/30 never happens stop. but 100/60 happens all the time and that makes the market value $80
