God bless the Sisters of Mercy and the work and prayers they do for the patients and staff . I have been to St. Francis in Tulsa a few times over the past couple of years and I never knew about the Sisters or the chapel they have. I would've like to gone to the chapel in my hour of need.
Thank you Sisters for doing the work you do. If there is one thing that is missing in our medical community, when addressing a patient's needs, it is addressing their emotional and spiritual well being while they are receiving medical care. Being in the right frame of mind is pivotal to the healing process.
Imagine going through all that work of getting into medical school, finishing such an arduous academic program, becoming a doctor, but not reaping the substantial financial rewards of being a physician. Instead, you devote yourself to a life of service, and live an austere life. That takes a strength of character and devotion to something that transcends this physical world. I doubt most people, when they talk about their devotion to faith, because you see how their life is so preoccupied with worldly luxuries. The faith of these nuns is unassailable.
