Problem on Departure, Then Off to Nashville!!

- Опубліковано 3 сер 2018
- We had to circle back to land after departure to resolve an issue. Then we depart initially VFR, climb above a scattered layer and pickup an IFR clearance airborne to complete the trip. We planned just a quick trip down and back but that got extended a bit.

Great video and good teamwork throughout, including the door issue. Handled it well. Thanks for sharing.
Love the channel. You guys are great. Thanks for the ride along. Blessings from the Deep South.
So patient with his wife. So kind.
I don't fly and I'm not a pilot, but I'm having fun watching your piloting skills. I'm a 911 dispatcher/operator and being the guy that likes to tell officers and deputies where to go and how to get there I love the air traffic controllers. You wife is excellent at her air traffic control skill as well.. Pretty fun to hear that episode when you where flying to Burlington. The Bahamas videos where so cool! Beautiful video of the islands... I will continue to watch. Maybe I'll try to be a pilot someday. Until next time 1BC.
Thank you Mark...glad you're enjoying the videos! Hope you continue to enjoy the channel and good luck on your pilot training if you choose to go that route. :)
Always great to see a new vid from you guys. Looks like you had a great time in Nashville. Keep 'em coming!
Thanks Wally! Glad you are enjoying them. I have lot's more I'm working on editing now. Hope to post a little more regular than the past month.
wally man nice Jaguar. i have Jaguar XJ here in Japan! ✈️🚘
Nice job, again. Jamie strutting her stuff from the Jaguar was a nice touch too.
Thanks Greg! I thought it would make a nice addition to the video. :)
She is beautiful and that always helps.
I concur!!
310 Pilot it most certainly did
Jamie makes anything worth watching.... I enjoy the aviation content but let’s be honest. These videos could be on how to stir one gallon cans of paint! She really makes them! 👍
I love to hear Jamey on the radio. Both of you are obviously professionals (ATC Controllers) but it’s really nice to hear y’all on the GA end. Thanks for the excellent videos.
Loved watching you guys work together! Nice flight. Thanks for sharing!
You're welcome. Glad you enjoyed it!
Jamie "Nailed it!" Everybody makes a mistake every now and again. We love out out here in the either!
I worked at a FBO in Nashville for years while building flight time and I NEVER saw anyone that looked like this co-pilot ! Great video !
Thank you Randy! She's perfectly unique. :)
310 Pilot I had to chuckle at this video, because I had the same thing happen once in an older Baron. The latch on that door was real finicky. Look forward to more videos from you guys, thanks for sharing !
The company I used to work for had a 58 Baron, and it happened several times with me in the right seat. First time was a surprise, level cruise at 6000', it makes a LOT of noise in the plane! When we'd close it, the pilot would pull it closed, instead of me, to pull it hard enough to get it to latch. And that didn't always work...lol
David French - LOL! That’s exactly right David ! You had to slam it really hard and even that didn’t do it sometimes. A 58 Baron was a great, iconic airplane, but I think they subbed the door latch out to Fisher Price.😂
@@davidfrench5407 I can remember when I was a kid the pilot reaching over and slamming the door really hard! Now I know why soooooooo hard.
Smooth recovery on the popped door! I got my qual in a BV206 a long time ago.
All the best.
Eric
Time flies when watching your videos, keep them coming.
Living the dream brother, thanks for bringing me along.
You're welcome Terry...thanks for coming along!
Almost lost your co-pilot when that door popped open. Love how you two work together, it has to make the trip easier. Great video! Thanks
She was perfectly safe. You can't open a door in flight even if your life depended on it. That's why Kevin remarked that she would never get it closed. Can't even open it enough to slam it closed again.
You're welcome Stan...glad you liked it! It can be nerve racking a bit for passengers but once we shut it she was ready for Nashville! :)
Had a door completely open on a Bonanza. She only had the top latch open. You can't open the door further. Maybe Arnold could but, I couldn't. The door opens about 2 1/2" and that's about it. But, it did appear to disturb her. She acted nauseous and held her stomach or was that for some other reason?
Stan Themanx No one is mentioning seat belts.
One of the best flights and glimpse into personal life! Thanks you two 👍🏻
After the first several minutes, the door problem, the lady apologizing, and you acknowledging that it was your issue, should have verified solid closure, you are the pilot: you are a gentleman Sir! Well done!! The lady is pleased. Which means that the pilot is pleased as well! And at such a young age! Amazing!
Definately the most relaxed Bonny and Clyde couple out there. Keep the party goin music rollin and brews flowin.
Thanks and will do Cap'n! :)
Lol!
Wrong frequency, wrong squawk, a door pops open... I'm headed to parking and calling it a day. Three strikes and I'm out. Great job handling the door though. A simple door pop has done many a pilot and plane in. Keep this good stuff coming!
Glad you liked the video JCON. I have several I'm going to finish editing. Got behind a bit with last month being super busy. 3 big strikes and I'll call it...the freq and squawk don't bother me much. My last transponder would start up on 1200 every time...still getting used to the 345. Ref the freq... the last time we taxied in tower kept us to park so that's why it was loaded in the #1. Obviously I will work on catching both those moving forward. Always learning. :)
You chicken out way too early, just solve the problems and continue
door will not close in the air..
. Worked with a pilot (former Boeing test pilot). He intentionally opened the door on a Baron in flight. He tried several different maneuvers to close the door. Left yaw, slow flight, imminent stall, etc. He surmised the only way to close the door in flight was to stall the aircraft with the nose vertical (Zero airspeed). He did not try that because he felt that if the aircraft did a tail slide, the reverse flow of air may cause the door to open more or even tear it from the airframe.
@@flexairz The twin is most likely too fast to get the door shut in flight. You can maybe get one closed on a piston single if you fly a slip, but see Raoul's post below.
Though im not pilot. I watch many flight videos. Ive never seen anything like you two. You are so calm on each other as if your just driving a flying truck down the highway, talking on the CB and just having fun.. Thats truly excellent.
Wow...thanks for the awesome compliment!
I love watching you fly. Y'all are great! I live in Nashville, hope we showed you good "southern hospitality". Be safe and again, I love watching your videos.
I think I came back in to Nashville via that exact route coming into BNA a week or so ago. It's is pretty! Welcome to Nashville!
Very pretty route. Especially when you are trapped up in the flat midwest. It's nice to see trees and rolling hills. :)
Nice handling of the popped door
Three things I enjoy about your video's over the others: 1. Your calm attitude, obvious love of flying, and the fact that you don't spend the entire time "Schooling" your viewers. 2. Your camera mounted on the overhead shooting out the windscreen, is the best view I've seen yet. 3. You include some of your after flight activities.
Great couple, great video!
Thanks for not deleting the mistakes from the video. We can all learn from that.
Thank you Sergio! I think it's important to put in my mistakes...it would be very easy to edit them out as you mentioned. We are all humans and make mistakes it's good to learn from ourselves and others. :)
Nice vid, nice flyin, nice plane, nice co-pilot....Nashville is a great town....
I love it here
A man after my own heart, a twin Cessna, camo hat, Browning T-shirt, and livin' in White Tail country. Life doesn't get much better. Oh and you have the pretiest co-pilot on youtube.....
Can't argue with that.
Thanks Steve!! I do love chasing white tails! And I'd have to agree 100% with your assessment of my co-pilot. :)
310 Pilot hey how come your co pilot gets a chance to talk to air traffic control? Is the plane hers or yours?
Leonardo, I believe she is his wife and an air traffic controller. So she is more than capable to use the radios.....
Steve Castro ohh
Love the vids. LOVE the Jaguar :)You two work really well together in the cockpit and both clearly enjoy flying together as we enjoy watching your uploads. Happy Flying! Watch you guys all the way down here in New Zealand.
Thank you Stephen...glad you're enjoying the videos! I'd love to visit your beautiful country one day...it's at the top of the list!
Just subscribed to your channel. Love your videos! You and your wife make a beautiful team!
Glad you are enjoying them Hank....thanks for the subscription!
You guys were in my city. Lived here in Nashville for about 20 years great place. Love watching the vids you guys post. Keep em coming.
We loved it down there. Looking forward to visiting again!
Nashville is becoming a shithole. Crime has been tripling every year.
Little break from filming, we all know what that means, good job brother!
Mile high club?
@@kcook8119 you already know
@@dinorosga9147 I've been polished off a few times while on long flights. Set the auto and enjoy.
Yep. She was fixing her makeup with a grin on her face.

Thank you! I absolutely enjoyed that episode and your natural and cool interaction. You guys are livin' the life. I am a pro country bass player here in Vegas that ran out of cash for my Private license a long time ago. Best ya'll.... Tod
Glad you enjoyed it Tod and good luck on your continued music career! I love watching live country music...as you could tell in our video. :)
Fun trip. Love Nashville! Great video.
Wow Jaime looks good in this video!
Oh yes, I imagine that break wasnt boring at all!! lol
Love your videos might not have 'nailed it ' the door issue. But from doors to birds never a dull moment.
Thank you for taking me back home. nice flying.
Happy to take you back Miguel!
Great flying with you two. What year/model 310 are you flying?
Wow!!! a woman that said "Sorry" !!! incredible!
Fedor Amuricano lol yeah I hear ya
yeah I know, from a guys perspective, its like a mind F***. do you say thank you or do you ask if she needs to go to the ER?
Mine does that too. And she's currently working on her fear of flying and going up with me in our Cherokee now and then. If your reference the "Hot/Crazy Matrix" there is a little box on the lower right hand corner labeled "Unicorn", they are rare but they are out there!!!! :-)
She didn't mean it.
Late to board . . . really enjoyed the flight. Thanks for a great podcast!
Glad you're enjoying it...glad to have you aboard. :)
Outstanding video as always.... great to see you guys in the cockpit together...and cool heads prevailed when the door popped open
Thanks Tom! Glad to have the time to start putting some back up again.
I flew out of there when it was a tiny quarter mile strip!
Is it possible to digitally highlight what you are looking at our the front window? For instance the Southwest jet you were looking at?
I will look into that. My editing is somewhat limited but I'm learning as I keep making videos. I was really hoping the SWA 737 showed up as it was so clear in real time. The cameras views while better than I thought they would be, are somewhat limited.
Theres another youtuber that has some cameras affixed on the outside of the plane. I wonder if this is possible? Love the videos.
Enjoy seeing a local pilot posting videos. I fly out of LL10. Always interesting flying south and avoiding the Sowthwest traffic. KJWN is on my future destination list and seeing the approach to it is helpful. Keep up the great videos!
Thanks Kevin! Glad to show something helpful and that you are enjoying the videos. If you ever hear us or see us around swing by/say hi. :)
Another great video, you two are a great couple. Glad you guys had a nice getaway, looked like Nashville was a great time.
It was a blast...glad you liked it!
I came to watch a an aeroplane ( airplane for US ), but was distracted by a lady alighting from a Jaguar. Looking good
She is an ATC also.
All that and a 11 wife !! Awesome!!
Thank you David and I agree with you 110%...she's an 11 on the 10 scale. :)
Oh...I was leaning more towards 25 on the 10 scale. She sounds and acts like a keeper. Take care of her and she'll take care of you. They just want and need to be loved, cherished and told they're beautiful.
You’ve got the order of acquisition correct too 😂
Came here to say that, but couldn't think of a classy way.
@@310Pilot Hope you pre nupped... or did she?
Damn Bro, you are one lucky man!! You have a damn beautiful, intelligent, and aviation minded woman by your side!! Totally awesome!!
Don’t know how I got here, started off watching the new flight simulator from Microsoft lol. Love the channel, all the way from the uk. I could only imagine the freedom you guys get with a plane must be awesome!! Truck driver my self but this is a different league of freedom. New sub looking forward to the next upload !
Just a very nice video!
Glad you enjoyed it.
I have been to Armuchee and Rome. I almost feel like I know you!

Thank you Tom...glad to hear you enjoyed this one as well!
Beautiful scenery. Sky King should have been so lucky. Thanks for taking us along.
You're welcome John...glad you liked it!
"It was not boring" followed by a great smile lol
Noticed the same thing. Break from filming huh?
Ha ha...I told here when I was editing that it was going to look like that. :)
And a touch up on the makeup while she says it 😄
Yeah. That was a dead give away! Busted
Scarey stuff. Been there, done that in a 182. Wife looked as though she was gonna have a full blown panic attack there at 3:32. Glad she had the presence of mind not to grab the yoke. After that happened to me I always made it a point to include that possibility in my pre-takeoff briefing.
Never fun for passengers with stuff like this. This is the first time it's happened in this plane as the door usually seats nicely. Had it happen in several other planes over the years. She was a trooper though...ready to take the trip after shutting it!
I Love how she was trying to hold the door shut. The first time it happened to me was when I was doing my long x-country solo. Took me like 10 minutes to figure out what was going on. Flew the whole 75 nM leg like that. I was hot out so the breeze felt great.
310 Pilot. Catching some of your older videos. Enjoyed your flight to Nashville as you landed as that’s home and recognized many feature and landmarks. Looks like you both enjoys your stay. Great place to party. Thx.
Great flight guys fantastic twin; and the co pilot is lovely too what more could you ask for thanks for bringing us along cheers
You're welcome Paul! I have my dream plane and dream girl...I'm a very lucky man!!
I love your channel ANNNNND here’s why, I truly enjoy watching all well most aviation channels, with that said I would rather watch your vids hands down than any other vids out there BECAUSE you seem to be a helluva pilot yet your laid back and common with the camo cap and shirt, what I’m trying to say is that y’all are my people!!! I am curious as to what you do for a living thought not that it matters I’m glad for your obvious success. I’m from the south and I believe in respect therefore I would never make a rude comment about your right seat like some I see on here but I will say that you know how to edit your videos to get the views !! Keep ‘em coming and keep the belly down on that twin !!!
Jamie looks fine!
Well said Randy! :)
You are talkingKing about the guy's wife you dumb asses!
+Dick Boldt hey dumbass, did you see the thumbnail. Of course he new sod guys would make a comment.
Hell, the only reason I even clicked is because of that ass. Married? It's not illegal to look, long as you do t touch.
Dick Boldt Unintelligent people have no problem showing their ignorance.
Unfortunately there is no filter for that.
Never a bad vid from you two... love this one, great way to handle the door situation... She looked concerned initially, until you explained the situation.. :)
Really glad you liked it! She's a trooper...shut the door and she was ready to go. :)
Great video! Just discovered your channel. Will definitely watch more. Hope you had fun here in Nashville!!
Thank you....glad you enjoyed it! We loved Nashville. We will be back again.

Ha ha...my plan is working. :) Thanks for swinging by...I enjoy your channel!
I'm still walking around the house 1bravo charlie in my head!
What year did you hit the lottery :-)
Date of the wedding I believe.
Another great video and you guys are awesome! I used to crack open the door on my students to see what they would do in a real life scenario and hoping that they would do exactly what you did...stay calm, figure out the problem, just come back, close it, and continue on with the day. Handled it like a pro! Excellent call to get out of the line of fire with ohare and midway before picking up the clearance, because even coming out of LOT was a hassle sometimes. Great video again and excited to see more!
Thank you!! That is a good move on you as a CFI to do that with your students. I never did but should have when I instructed. I've learned that more often than not if they are busy they will keep you low till you clear the inbounds to MDW. Since I knew I could reach the tops quickly we opted to go VFR and pick up in a much less busy spot. :) Glad you are liking the channel. :)
Great video , flight looks pretty smooth to me ,love the view above the clouds. Instrument rating comes in handy on flights like this. Looks like people in Nashville sure know how to have a good time. Thanks mate
Glad you liked this one Spiro! They do know how to have a good time down there. They managed to steal one of your countrymen with Keith Urban.
Could you're arrange the cameras so they are all pointed at her?....thank you
Can we forget about the plane altogether?
What plane?...lol
Now I've noticed that Kevin tends to ignore certain comments... this one did make me laugh though. I bet if you ask Jaime, she would say Kevin was quite the catch himself. Smart, great pilot etc, etc, etc.
But yes Jaime does represent Alaska well! 😀 Ok. I'm out on that... "NBT3 is out, Thanks 1 Bravo Charlie!"
Hopefully you do know I’m a gentleman with a sense of humor....love airplanes, flying and beautiful woman.......not necessarily in that order....lol...Thanks for understanding...
Dont disrespect this man stupid that's his wife loser
...needs a PIPER HOOK at the top...
So glad to see you folks again. Yes, that's a gorgeous top she has on, oh the door problem... I was distracted for a moment. Thanks so much for sharing your flying experiences. I duplicate them in X-Plane 11. Keep 'em flying and keep 'em coming, luv u guys!
Thanks Richard! I was distracted for a moment too when I saw her get out of the car!! I'm a lucky guy. :) Working on editing several more flights...hopefully I'll be able to post them up more regularly.
You can check out some of my 'older' videos on trains here, I know what it takes to video, edit, title, etc, how are you matching up the vids? I really can appreciate the time it takes for you to do the production in ADDITION to the flight. Having a co-pilot helps, but I know it still is a nice amount of work. All the best.
Great job again!! Enjoy your hard work. Keep. at it!
Awesome...thanks Dick!
Didn't Nail it! More like Fail it. Happens to everyone, great procedures and thought processes to return.
I Love those Twins
the plane is nice too!
Awesome video, nailed it! lol, I had a door pop on me in Provincetown about a month ago. No big deal, just an extra landing. Great job, you look like you are on top of your game to me. Paul
Thank you Paul for the nice compliment! Glad you enjoyed the video. :)
Dude I’d fly with you any day. I need to comment that your landings are at times “bumpy”, but you are one cool cat under pressure. And your meticulous run thru’s are top notch. Not a bad habit in sight brother. Fly safe!
21:30 Makeup check LOL
Had an instructor leave the seat belt in the door on one of my supervised solos. It didn't start banging on the side of the plane until I lifted off. Thought the tail was falling off. Stayed in the pattern, landed and when I pulled off to the taxi way the instructor said " Sorry bout that". Never mentioned it again.
LOOL that's hilarious. Glad you were ok :)
That sucks Ron...glad you didn't freak and flew the plane. I had the seat-belt out once on a 172 and it sounds like an automatic riffle going off!
My instructor got really nervous once when the fuel cap came off and was hanging from the chain banging on the wing, after that they made sure a ladder was available for checking the fuel caps. Cessna 150.
My instructor was a clown too. On my first flight we flew 45 miles from my home airport to his home airport. Half way there, in class G airspace, he decided to perform a 3 turn spin to the left (I was sitting left seat). Then told me to put it into a spin and recover. I asked to climb to 6000 just for additional safety. I had to throw away some clothing after that first flight (if you know what I mean). He said he wanted to "weed me out early" if I freaked out. Later in my training he told me to spin with a blind fold on and he would recover. The best instructor ever, but a little on the crazy side.
Very smooth landing, well done!
Nice flight guys! Thanks...
20:45..."took a little break from filming........ boring" ...."it was not boring"...smirk and fixing the make up.
HAHA!!!
I'm glad I'm not the only one that catch that!😉 I thought I was all alone. Lol
Sky King would be impressed. :)
:)
Always great to see you guys, always looking forward to new videos. You all need to come down to South Louisiana for Mardi Gras!!!
Thanks for the compliment Randall and the excellent idea! March trip down to Louisiana may be in our future this year. :)
I’m living vicariously through you. Hope you don’t mind. Loving the videos!
Glad you're enjoying them! :)
I used to think guys were just being polite when they would open and shut the door for a Lady, now I see it's essential, because they kept falling out😀
She is gorgeous.
Nice job, buddy. That place reminds me of Beale St in Memphis. Lots of great places to eat/drink and PLENTY of great live music. Looks like you guys had a great time! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Mike! We'll have to add Beale St. to our list of places to visit. I haven't been to Memphis in a long time. We could use some good Bar-B-Q
310 Pilot Can’t go wrong with Silky OSullivans. Good food and great drinks. Wet Willy’s if it’s still there was awesome. There’s just a ton of places to visit. It’s great! If you go, let me know what you think. We stayed at the Westin which is very close walking distance. Great hotel. Lots of fun!
Experience is great, I know you need to have that lawyer language, but very valuable VLOG! Perfect response to open door, door doesn't close in flight! Keep up the good work!
Thank you and we'll keep at it as long as people are enjoying them! Lawyer language is unfortunately the world we live in now. I'm really happy you find the channel valuable. That's what this is all about!

@@Bronwyn031 well then eye candy for the video....
TROPHY WIFE
While I can agree that she is beautiful and that is usually synonymous with some people...she's much more than a trophy wife. She is educated, articulate, has a great job that she is good at, fun to hang out with, a great mom and the list goes on. Hope you enjoyed the video.
Obviously much more.
You are a lucky man.
Trophy wife is insulting.
Thanks for another fun video!
I had my pilot's side door pop open on a 172 during the initial takeoff while doing a BFR. I had made a big show of checking the instructor's door, but apparently forgot about mine. The instructor gave me credit for ignoring the door until we were up to pattern altitude. You can close a door inflight in a 172 if you open the window first.
Glad you enjoyed it! I've had the same happen in 172's. As you said, with the window open it will close and nice job in your case. In the 310, I doubt it will but I knew I had to climb aggressively to get to the tops so I thought the best thing was to land.
Flew right past us this time! haha
LOVE THE VIDS!!!
Thanks Philip...glad you are enjoying them!
Fantastic video. Nashville is the place to be. I live in West Tennessee not far from there. Way to handle the door problem staying calm and cool. Keep videos coming

Great video guys! Thanks for sharing!
You're welcome...glad you liked it.
Kevin I was watching some of your old videos and this “Nailed It Video” was interesting in quite a few ways. It showed the huge difference between your old paint scheme and the new “UGA” theme and the huge difference in the instrument panel cluster from 2yrs ago to now.
It wasn't boring... Always enjoy your videos. Thank you for taking us along for all the cool fun things aviation can be. Your are kinda local too which is interesting. I flew out of Joliet and Lewis and also did some landings at Morris when I was taking lessons.
Glad you are enjoying our videos!! That's what this is all about for us. I've flow over JOT and LOT a bunch but have yet to land there. I have landed at Morris and left the plane in a hangar there overnight as I couldn't beat a nasty line of storms. Nice people there.
310 Pilot LOT has nice long runways now. Pretty easy coming in there too but you tend to sink well coming in. When NASCAR races are going on that is where the teams land. Can handle most if not all corporate jets. If you fly east from there you are in Class C right away. JOT short runways. One hard surface the other sod. Also has a gas station just west of and basically in line with the hard surface runway. Still strange landing over a gas station. Landing you tend to get a kick up on short final especially near and just after the gas station. Landing on the sod is fun.
I'm a big fan and it was so cool to see you in my home town, glad you enjoyed the Music City! The first time I ever left the ground in something other than an airliner was a fun flight out of KJWN, now I'm getting ready to start flight school at MTSU in Murfreesboro (KMBT), just to the southeast of Nashville. Come back and see us real soon y'all, and keep up the great content.
Glad you are enjoying the channel Ben! Good luck on your flight training....I'm certain you'll have no regrets. :)
Another great adventure video! I was landing North Platte Nebraska (KLBF) the other day and I guess I hit the window latch with my elbow and my window popped open while I was crossing midfield to turn downwind. That'll wake you up in a hurry! Keep up the good work!
Glad you liked this one Stan! When you aren't expecting it the strange noise followed by the loud air will for sure get your attention. :)

Yeah she is Bob! Glad you are liking the videos...we'll keep working on them. :)
So, what's the story on the HSI? Did you get it repaired, never heard?
Always love your videos! I learn so much watching others fly IFR, still working on my IFR ticket. Looks like Nashville is a good time! You'll have to try northern MN sometime, look us up if you do, beautiful this time of year!
Awesome...thanks for following along with us and glad some of it helps. That's what this is all about for us. MN is on our list...pretty close in 310 time and I've never been. May go hunting with a buddy up there this year or next.
We have a lake place near Bemidji and a hanger in Walker, but flying into Bemidji is actually closer. My wifes sister lives in Minooka, so we've landed in Morris a few times. Fly a TB-20. Hit us up if you'd like a weekend getaway!
