I must thank you guys. Thank goodness for technology and GoPros and awesome folks like you to bring aviation to people like me that have disabilities that would not allow us to study aviation. My father was with United Airlines his entire career before he passed. As a child I had the opportunity to sit left seat from PITT to Beaver County. I have always had the heart of an aviator but not the visual abilities. Im blind in right eye and left eye is not the greatest and super night blind. I'd like to say its awesome to hear you guys as Controllers flying and the "art" of cockpit communications I can listen to you guys all day long. I used to feel so stuck wanting to fly so bad but knowing I cant but you guys bring it home for me. Thank you so much.
Wow, thank you for the kind words Thomas! All we were looking for was to have fun and share our love of aviation with others. Hearing a story like this makes the cameras and editing well worth it! I'm sorry you weren't able to enjoy flight first hand with your medical issues but am so happy to have you journey with us. Thank you for sharing your story with us! We will continue to share our flight experiences with you. Lot's of fun trips planned for the year!
Thomas Pittock Thomas great story, I was shocked to see that you are so close by. I also have visual problems so I am stuck to only being a drone pilot, anyway a shout out from Beaver County(Monaca)
Very nice. I learned to fly at Midway in the early 80's before it turned into the madhouse that is now. The view of the skyline from 04 is awesome, I have a framed 8x10 we took out the front of a 172 that's been hanging on my wall for 30 years now. Thanx for taking us along. Keep up the good work.
Glad we could take you back! I heard from others MDW used to be a good GA airport. Not much going on there anymore than SWA and corporate jets. Thanks for coming along!
Hello Kevin and Jaime, I want to thank you for all your videos, I feel as I am flying with you each time. I enjoy all your videos, and I cannot wait for your next one to come out. If your ever in the DFW area I would really enjoy aviating with you two. You two are so much fun to watch. I would like to meet you sometime.... Cheers for now...…...
I’ve watched and enjoyed all of your videos, thanks for sharing them. I enjoy your cockpit chatter and listening to ATC. Our radios are never as busy. A night flight in the Chicago area is quite the contrast to flying the plains of central Kansas after dark. I liked your night flight and I’m looking forward to seeing your new travels.
Awesome video, Glad i can be apart of this channel. It's going places fast! I love these video's because when i was younger my step father was a charter pilot and he would use one of his friends 310's for our vacations. I miss the power of the 310 and the sound of those engines. I remember riding in the back to Chattanooga couldn't see over the dash but i'm forever hooked on 310s!
Great job on this one Kevin. The contrast between flight and being on the water (my trade) is interesting. Your screens seem very bright. On the water, dimming everything , helps to maintain night vision.
Glad you enjoyed it Karl! I try to keep things fairly dim to help with my eyes night vision to be able to see well outside the cockpit. I'm still fine tuning my night flying as some things are easily controlled, some are auto-dim and some are just how they are. That being said, I think the cameras made the electronics look brighter than they really were.
Just saw this one and you can sure see how much brighter your new landing lights are. I remember well the same dark picture with the 310 I used to fly.
New sub here, and not a pilot, but thank you for the fantastic content. You two are pretty great together.. sounds like you both have ATC experience. Real professionals.
Thank you! We will keep them coming. We have several fun flights planned for the year. She does sound great on the radio...hard to believe she's never had a flight lesson.
Good job by all and thanks for taking us along ! Love the night lights and learning about the greater Chicago area and airspace environment. Looking forward to your next flight.
Glad you liked it Alan! All that's left for the Chicago area is landing O'Hare. I'll do that soon and we have several trips planned for the year that we will put up.
I wanted to share that I'm not into aviation at all. However, I find myself drawn to watching aviation videos. I'm personally terrified of flying, so you won't catch me on a plane any time soon! It's quite amusing, but I can't explain why I enjoy these videos. Keep up the great work in aviation, and always prioritize safety. Your videos are undeniably cool. Hook 'em Horns!"
Glad you are enjoying it Russell! I learned with no glass and no gps. We had to do NDB approaches and all. I must say, I'm glad to have all the new technology in the cockpit.
Kevin, I know you try and nail a smooth landing everytime, but those are every now and then. It's like my FI told me once, Any landing you can walk away from is a good one. My FI was Retired Col. Arthur West. US Army Air Force, then later USAF. He was a flight instructor on a B-17G Mitchell. He gave me a B-17G flight manual before he passed away. Night flying is great. Done it many times. Enjoy it all while you guys are young. Talk about changes..Whew !!
Keith, wow...you had a very experienced flight instructor with an awesome resume. That is cool that you were able to fly with him. I agree, most of my landings are all perfectly fine. I always strive for the greasers on the center line and will over critique myself on them. :)
I love your videos, this night flight was beautiful but seemingly stressful. I fly out of Skyhaven airport but in Rochester N.H. I started watching your videos when I saw the New england videos. I'm currently rebuilding and flying a Phantom ultralight myself. Just need to heal and be cleared from a work injury. Your 310 is a beautiful aircraft; love the sound of the twin. There is a lighthouse in York Maine, its the Nubble light you would enjoy. You probably flew over it going up the Maine coast to Bar Harbor. I believe the restricted area in Kennebunkport was were the former President Bush lived. I'm randomly going through your videos, you have posted quite a few. Thank you, Take care, Be safe.
Surprised they didn’t just have you sidestep to 4L with a 737 1-2 miles behind you. I listen to MDW ATC all the time and they do it to most props. Cool video. I love Midway.
Glad you liked the video. We will usually coordinate with tower before ramming a 737 close to a GA plane to make sure they are going to side-step. I'm guessing the parallel was closed? When I got to work I watched the replay and the SWA was a little over 2 behind and matched our speed as I was keeping it up. Glad to get off and not cause a go-around as I was just playing around. :)
with so many muni airports in Chicago area, why possibly cause problems for fast flying arriving jets at Midway? Fun for you, but nothing but aggravation for SWA pilots.
I will never fly my own plane BUT if I did would want someone like Jamie helping me this 76-year-old. DV in bad health will never pilot a plane enjoy your videos
Holy Moly Batman... I thought you guys were taxing back to your home base airport... Well done... Big airports and taxing suck sometimes... King Air Pilot
So hard, in my view anyway, to judge you’re height above ground when they have those lights on full bright, In my case normally after passing the threshold my best judge of height is off my own landing light. New idea 💡, lightbulb icon no pun intended, is to install a remote dimmer switch into each cockpit 👍😎🇬🇧. It’s great for the big boys, but on GA a bit of a nightmare sometimes. Thanks again for another wonderful video. You’re good young lady did very well on comms, I’m assuming she doesn’t have a PPL so that’s even more impressive. Thanks again from England 🏴
I love flying over the city at night. Probably why I schedule my flights from my local airport, FWA to go into ORD earlier in the AM or later evening when I fly anywhere out west. Fly into FWA if you ever get a chance. The 122nd FW has their A-10's up quite a bit and they are fun to watch.
Hi guys, Just viewed your night flight into MDW, pretty awesome! I really hope I get to meet you two your next trip to Key West. I have seen many of your videos now, most entertaining to me, my highlight of the day! Tony from Key West
Loved this flight. It reminded me of flying a172 from Peoria into Midway 4L at night with a Citation on my right wing for 4R. I did a touch and go onto Rockford. Another night flight into Meigs and blew a tire on landing. Service from from Midway was about 1 1/2 hrs. Loved Meigs! Wish we still had it!
310 Pilot a decent amount of the guys here like to make ORD their bravo experience but a lot of the time it happens at 11pm or later. I would never be able to handle that.
Discovered your family during the rona, love your flights, and have a completely better feel about flying in smaller aircraft. The connection the two of you have is awesome.
Loved Jamie’s comment about controllers talking ‘super-fast’. So hard to understand sometimes. If you hear a foreign accent (including English or Australian) please slow down a little. It takes us a while to pick up the accent and we’re not used to our own controllers talking faster than normal, everyday conversation. I can’t pick up Midway tower’s instructions on this and English is my first language...!
When I hear a foreign accent not only do I slow it down, I also break things up into smaller chunks. The US airliners that come in and out all the time you can pick up the tempo quite a bit and they get it all. Sometimes you don't have much time and those seconds can matter.
@@310Pilot - Speed is probably not as important as enunciation. Enunciation comes with practice, speed naturally as enunciation improves . Keep priorities in order for best results.
@@310Pilot My VERY southern CFII who trained and drove P3 Orions for the Navy most of his life explained it well back when I was training. I asked what do I do if the tower is talking too fast to understand, particularly up north (or in the midwest) and he said "if your hear them blazing through instructions as you approach, make sure your first communication is in, as, slow, a, southern, drawl, as, possible. They don't penalize you for being from the south and will usually slow down the instructions to accommodate the backwater hick that somehow got his license." I've used that tactic only once. Worked like a charm.
Hi Kevin & Jaime - my son Ryder got to see a few of your videos tonight with me and he says Hi! He’s 9, and a half ;). He wanted me to tell Jaime to tighten her sun visor - it’s been loose on a few landings. He loves the videos!
We will be flying there in July because our son is going in the Navy. Southwest offers direct flights from Jax to Midway. Thankful for that service as my wife does not like to fly...layovers and plane changes are not good for her. Lol
Thank you Rory! Yes, being an approach controller here, shooting the RNAV 4R was no big deal. Having never been to MDW before and it being night/old iPad problems...was the hardest part.
Great videos. The only thing I saw wrong was taxing with your strobe lights on. I thought it was practice to turn them on for take off and turn them off when exiting the runway. Keep up the safe flying.
Glad you are enjoying the videos Steve! You are 100% correct and I had to go back to watch because I didn't believe that I forgot to turn them off. What a rookie mistake. Of course I grab them right away at ARR when there was no one around. I owe some southwest pilots a drink. :)
Great view out the windshield there - love that camera angle! Place looks absolutely amazing at night. 👍 I know she said that runway was "lit up like a Christmas tree" ... but I say it was lit up like the dash of my '07 Silverado. 😁
I was pleasantly surprised how well the gopro's did at night. I'm going to toy with an external one or two and see if they show things like the skyscrapers in the distance.
I landed there a few months ago at night. They were using the 31's so I requested a visual to 31L to stay out of the way. I was amazed at how hard that field is to find at night. It's just buried among all the city lights.
Usually we try to coordinate with the tower for GA's to land the parallels and you could hear the SWA behind us ask tower if we were. I'm guessing it was closed for some reason? Many times when running visual approaches at night to MDW you can tell who is familiar and who is a first timer. It's tough to see blended in to the rest of all the lights!
great night views of Chicago ..... speaking of distracting - that right front gopro in the first half of the video is a mind bender ..... blinky blinky reflections ...... surprised Jamie didn't complain/or is it just our angle?
Glad you enjoyed it! I love night flying but haven't gotten out much at night lately. That was just the angle from the GoPro...in the plane it was hardly noticeable. :)
@@310Pilot swing by KMAI on your way back from Zeffer Hills (it's really right on your way). I'll take you on a fun flight down to Dog Island on the 172. I took Jon and Steph from Fly8MA down there when they came through and we had a blast. Check out my page. I have a video of me landing there yesterday.
Night flying for me will help me out a lot on my IFR rating but unfortunately weather conditions on cool nights with warmer air flows over water can become more difficult if the fog moves inland . You have a well lighted ForeFlight IPAD and other avionics on hand for backup if needed. That's why it's great that you both are safe flying a Muti engine aircraft at night is better than a single-Engine at night especially over mountains. One day I like to see some IMC practice approaches in and out of your home base Airport . God bless you both .
I agree, it is more comfortable at night, with wx and/or water involved to be in a twin. I also want to get out and shoot some more actual approaches in IMC. When the plane comes out of annual and the conditions are right (no ice/convection), I'll get that done and put it up.
at 17 minutes and a few seconds when the music was playing and you were fast forward taxing... that bright light ahead of you in the middle of the shot was that another plane???

Many times when running visual approaches at night to MDW you can tell who is familiar and who is a first timer. It's tough to see blended in to the rest of all the lights!
Great video. Love night flying.
Thanks George. Glad you liked it!
you work well together!
Thank you Bob!!
I live in Kirkland I probably seen u fly over. I've been to poplar grove. Taylor airport... I just love it.
Great to be back in the 310 again for another flight with you both again. It's great to know people who know your call sign
Thanks Bernard! It is nice to hear a familiar voice. :)
great night views of Chicago ..... speaking of distracting - that right front gopro in the first half of the video is a mind bender ..... blinky blinky reflections ...... surprised Jamie didn't complain/or is it just our angle?
Glad you enjoyed it! I love night flying but haven't gotten out much at night lately. That was just the angle from the GoPro...in the plane it was hardly noticeable. :)
@@310Pilot good, I'd be hanging my hat on it if not ................... ;-p
Another great video!
Thank you Jon!
"I can talk super fast too!" Lol
That’s such a nice set-up!

Thanks Chris! Glad you enjoy how we operate. :)
Ehmm... that looked so romantic!
Two of you and in the dark sky!
It felt like a date in the expensive restaurant with an expensive vine.
Nice Flight..nice at night!!
Thanks John! Glad you liked it.
Nice vid my friend. The Blue Moons are on me.
Thank you Cap'n! I can dig a little moon...not an orange fan in them but I know most are. :)
at 17 minutes and a few seconds when the music was playing and you were fast forward taxing... that bright light ahead of you in the middle of the shot was that another plane???
Night flying is great and that's what I need to do more often
I agree and I need to do it more often as well!
