    Amazing! Brilliant running and in "less than ideal" 😂 conditions. I have just signed up for this year and just watched your video with a 50/50 split of excitement and terror

    Excellent job 👏👏 Those conditions were brutal and to film while doing it just adds another challenge well done! 👍

      Thanks! 😊 pulling out the camera when it was horrible and difficult actually distracted me for a little bit! 😂

    Great effort and what bad conditions you endured. Thanks so much for sharing. That flooded last section from Windermere looked awful especially in the dark!!!! Hope everyone made it out safely.

      As far as I’ve heard everyone survived the Lake! Maybe life jackets next year!

      I was the final finisher and can confirm that the water was still deep in the dark. I'm a six-footer and it was up to my thighs at times. I shudder to think of where that muddy water reached for more compact competitors.

    What a run Francois & what conditions, Epic doesn’t do it justice. Huge congratulations 👍

      Many thanks Jon, It was epic, unrelenting at times but all part of the adventure. Have you done it? Or have I now put you off! 😂

    Thanks for putting this together. A couple of mates completed the course and following them on a map didn't really show how tough it was.

    • @CotswoldTrailRunner
      @CotswoldTrailRunner  Рік тому

      Glad you enjoyed it! I know what you mean! Seeing someone move so slowly on a map doesn't explain why! Those climbs were tough enough without the weather and wind! Glad your friends survived and made it back ok!

    Well done.. don’t know how you made that run look so easy on a brutal looking day. 👍🏼

    • @CotswoldTrailRunner
      @CotswoldTrailRunner  Рік тому +1

      Not sure I made it look easy, maybe just filmed the 'easier' parts! I wanted to convey the reality of running a mountain race, it's tough out there!

  • @BenNotley

    Almost looked part swimming race there at Windermere! And unpleasant conditions to be up the bigger fells - amazing time given those added challenges! Epic run!

      Thank you! It was certainly a challenge, but prepares me for my next mid winter challenge in January!

    Great to see those improving times over the years. I finished about 3 minutes behind you - I wondered if my voice would appear in your last clip! Again next year?

    • @CotswoldTrailRunner
      @CotswoldTrailRunner  Рік тому

      Nope, not next year, I found that tough enough, I may return in the future but 3 times is probably enough. You? Well done!

    Sounded like insanely tough conditions when the voice over said, "struggling to walk and covered in lice, Dennis and friends were in dire need of help..." but then I realised the video had been interrupted by an ad for a donkey sanctuary!

    Bossed it! Well done mate. Those wading sections looked horrific 😅 How did that black jacket fare? I have the same one.

    • @CotswoldTrailRunner
      @CotswoldTrailRunner  Рік тому +1

      I’m just glad I did it in daylight! Yeah the jacket is good. Still need a long sleeve on underneath if you sweat a lot like me but waterproof and wind proof which I really appreciated at the top of Helvellyn! Thanks for watching!

    Quality content and congrats on the race! I’d love to know what your filming set up is? Camara quality an stabilisation is nice 👌 I’m running The Lap next year 75km, looking for something of this quality to film training an the event etc👌

    • @CotswoldTrailRunner
      @CotswoldTrailRunner  Рік тому +1

      Many thanks for watching and commenting. I just use a GoPro hero 11. It has built in stabilisation and also horizon lock so gives a super stable image even if I’m jumping over rivers or getting stuck in bogs! Can recommend 👍

    What shoes did you wear Francois? I'm doing this in a couple of weeks.

    • @CotswoldTrailRunner
      @CotswoldTrailRunner  4 місяці тому

      Hoka Speedgoat 4 (or 5). I’ve only worn speedgoats for years now. Grip was ok and I’m used to how they react in wet mountain conditions. I’d did swap for another pair of SG4’s at Ambleside for dry feet and the flatter last 20miles. I’d say most trail shoes are fine, it’s the wet feet management that’ll get you! Best of luck it’s a great event!

    Only 3 aid stations in 50 miles? That's a bit light on assistance especially for that distance, I would have thought every 10 miles was safer?

    • @CotswoldTrailRunner
      @CotswoldTrailRunner  Рік тому

      That's fairly standard I'd say, although between CP1 & 2 was a long time, and to be honest, because it's in the high fells, there isn't anywhere they could put an additional aid stations. They did have crew out on the course in case of an emergency. Makes you prepare better and ensure you have enough supplies! Thanks for watching!

    Amazing Francois. What a stunning race, even if some of the views were obscured with a 'bit' of fog! Great achievement and especially in those conditions. Must be hard with those river crossings getting your feet completely soaked and then running on for a long time. Had you had these in races before? Congrats on a super race

    • @CotswoldTrailRunner
      @CotswoldTrailRunner  Рік тому +1

      Thanks Ben, yeah the river crossing so early really tests you as your feet are then wet for hours! I've done a few 'adventure' races like this before, but equally it's the luck of the draw with the weather! I've run in full waterproofs before, and in torrential rain so this was a mix really.
