Im a trumpeter and I’d always played the National Anthem the same traditional way before. Ever since I’ve seen this, I can’t help but (attempt to) model after it. I can’t compete with Botti though, this is a pure masterpiece.
it somehow reminded me of Taps. I always felt an overwhelming sense of pride to stand and salute the flag at sunset in remembrance of my fallen brothers and sisters...I remember seeing this live (Colts fan) and before it began, I was a wee bit disappointed that a trumpet player would be doing the National Anthem. I can honestly say, I have never been more happy to be so incredibly wrong. To this day, I come back to this performance time and time again, and the emotions still get to me. Such an amazing performance!!
@@GuzZz1725:AMEN! I used to play it just like Mr. Sandoval (Can it be?) fifty years ago. "Double C" was the holy grail of trumpet players then, and, on a good night, I could hit the G above it. I'm an old man now, and I haven't played in many years. 😢
I discovered Chris, after my Father died. Missing him and all the years growing up in our home listening to Dad, play his trumpet. I saw an Ad with Chris on the cover. I asked a friend to go with me and it was magical ! So grateful for his talent.🎶🎺
Mr Botti is definitely on my “bucket list” as a concert attendee before I “check out”… the emotion I get from his horn magnificence… is only paralleled by Joe Satriani’s mastery of the guitar (fortunately been to MANY of Joe’s performances)…
Brilliant !! I Fell inlove with his music at 21 yrs old. Now I'm inlove with smooth|contemporary jazz because of this man Chris Botti from Jazz radio in 2011. He demands your ear! So immaculate!
Missed when you posted this. Thanks for sharing the original. Your talent, grace, poise, and skill are so beautifully shown and stated here. So beautifully given. Thank you for this wonderous rendition. I have listened to it literally hundreds of times. Keep it up sir.
This man IS SIMPLY a National Treasure. 🎉 I saw him play last Sunday in Newport Beach. He told a funny story about this actual night …and how totally freezing it was that evening and he was so worried that his lips were going to be too cold and it would sound bad. He came up with a hilarious solution involving hot water and trying to keep the trumpet warm. Then he said he had a fear it would turn into a Dumb and Dumber moment. As you can see it all ended well!! Chris, your humanity and your humility won me over for life. Not to mention…so easy on the eyes too ❤❤❤
The crowd overwhelmingly appreciated the performance and responded in kind. Did you see Reggie Wayne crying? Did you see the tranquil smiles on the faces of coaches and players? The song was gentle. So too was the crowd response; a gentle reverence.
Perfect rendition. Only way to improve it would be to let challenger the eagle fly over the stadium and onto his handler. The bird was awesome. Thanks Chris
@@qdog568 I wasn't alive in the 60s, but I think the people from then would say you have to have soul to get the Marvin Gaye version. Or be a musician. To put it to a beat and make it work is a technical challenge few would try. Some singer attempted it recently and she crashed and burned pretty hard. It's just one of those things you either get it or you don't and if you get it you love it.

My wife and I went to see Chris Botti perform at Greenville's Peace Center March 8th, 2022. He didn't play as much as I expected and he missed many of the notes. His lips were noticeably shot from playing night after night on tour. I will continue to listen to and love his music, but the price of two front row seats wasn't worth his performance that night.
Chris Botti is an excellent musician, but I prefer the National Anthem to be played straight as it was originally arranged, with no "ruffles and flourishes". Herb Alpert's rendition many years ago was the best.
He played the National Anthem, and it became a love song. How perfect.
It already is a love song...
My guy Reggie Wayne felt it deep in his heart.😢😢😢😢😢😢❤❤❤❤❤❤

I’ll never forget seeing this live on tv. Best rendition I have ever heard.

Same.
This rendition never fails to make me cry.
Always gives me chills. Botti is the best.
Seamless, crystal. Clear and not over the top. Purely graceful.
One of the best renditions of the National Anthem ever!!
Yes
@@chriswalther7329 Nope. Unhappy valentine. Uncool runnings. Nope nope nope. Absolutely not. I want to die. I caught Diabetes from this.
Arturo Sandoval ❤

So smooooth...like melted butter
This is a rendition worthy of the Super Bowl. It and Whitney are the gold standard.
Nothing more heartfelt than the sound of a lone trumpet.
Beautiful 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Words cannot explain how beautiful this is.
The best performance I've ever heard in my life!!! Oh God!!!

What an unbelievable musician he is!! Bravo😊
The classiest version of the national anthem ever.

I agree
As a trumpet player who has played this many times, what a different and pleasing rendition of it. Great job my friend ❤
That was absolutely beautiful. It made me so emotional, the serenity of it.
The best rendition of the National Anthem I have ever heard. Amazing.
Chris plays the National Anthem with the reverence it deserves. Fantastic.
wonderful thanks Chris!

This is a Superbowl-worthy rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner!
Sorry, but the alcohol affected crowd would not be truly appreciative of his over the top performance quality… imho
@@seminolerick6845 At least we on the other side of the video are hopefully sober and do appreciate his performance.
Bravoooo 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 que som maravilhoso,

Ever heard of Dr Jesse McGuire?
Buenísimo!!! Desde Argentina. Genio Chris Botti!!!

That version! ❤️
Great again America and Chris botti
Happy Veterans day to all who served.
I don't know why but I feel sentimental.
Chris can play anything and move my emotions....Oliver Luck At and Jr too.
Bien Chris Merci 🙏
So smoothly performed 👏👏👏
I don't believe I have ever heard a trumpet player put so much feeling and emotion through the horn! Thank you Chris Botti! 🎺🎵🎶👍
Chris is a master of his art… lost in this venue …
People were crying lol, what do you mean lost.

This guy can swoop all the girls and bring peace playing the Star Spangled on trumpet.
Very, very excellente...just too good really...ha!
i saw him on Sf with just 7 people in the venue when he was just becoming famous.
Este som é raridade muito difícil de tocar
Wonderful 😀
Best. Version. Ever. Check out all those big, tough men on the sideline gettin' misty!

Beautiful! When is the next album coming out?!?
Now what really impresses me is how he played high E and doesn't have a red face.
💕💕💕
So much better than the tired marching band version.
Perfect rendition. Only way to improve it would be to let challenger the eagle fly over the stadium and onto his handler. The bird was awesome. Thanks Chris

Best version of the song original composed in England
I can never decide whether this or the Marvin Gaye version is the best all time.
Arturo Sandoval is up there.
Marvin Gaye's was awful. Don't know what some of you were drinking, but it was awful.

😢😢❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🎺🎺
just pick up a trumpet and practice it for 3 years, i swear you won't play like that !
The best American national anthem rendition is by a Canadian
Who is that?
Botti's anthem in 2014 sounded so beautifully tragic, it almost sounded like he knew something we didn't.
Arturo Sandoval still the best playing the national anthem 🎺
w trumpet player
👁👁💪💪💪
Diferença de respeito pelo hino da pátria né aqui no Brasil nós estádio de futebol eles não respeitam o hino nacional uma vergonha

Stop trying to change the song. It's fine the way it is. Arturo Sandoval did it better.

Herb Alpert's rendition was not the original. You are contradicting yourself mid sentence.
Wake me up when hes done.
