Excellent body work again, buddy. Probably not much left now until you can paint and mount it on the chassis. Also great to get a glimpse of the actual speed you're working at. Thumbs up!
Awesome series. I have a 78 FJ40 in the barn that has been on hold. Was just going to get a 3/4 tub, but after watching this series, I will replace the rear quarters & supports like you did. I will take it down to the frame & do a full restoration. Thanks for the education. Looking forward to the next video.
Great job! Thanks so much for the 40 rust replacement tutorial.Going Smurph blue on the paint? Some of the new Tacoma colors are eye catching if you dont go original.Keep it up!Every 40 should come with a can of por15 in the glove box on general principal.
Great call on the rust converter! Perfect for unreachable nooks and crannies. Also the frame coating and the POR15! That thing won’t rust in our lifetime!!
Awesome work! That's a lot of work done in fast speed that it can be missed how much time and effort you're putting into these vehicles. Love it. Keep it up.
Saludos, he visto todos los episodios de restauración del TOYOTA, todo un clásico del los 4x4, espero pronto ver hasta que lo termines, excelente trabajo!👍💪
Fitzee's Fabrications here on UA-cam has a brilliant method for butt welding that I'm about to try on my Karmann Ghia boot lid. Definitely worth a look.
I am glad that you are well, I hope to see that you finish your restoration hoping that everything goes well for you, I am a lover of those and restoration work of the Toyota and the military Williz, in fact I want to dedicate myself to doing restorations of jeep Toyota and trucks Double cabin and that if I change more modern engine I want to export them to Europe and other countries. I want to know what brand is your welding machine that you use, I want to buy one of those I thank you friend, greetings.
Question: I noticed on the inner rust hidden (15:23) u first neutralized it, then rust reformered it, then weld through primered it... then welded in the patch... did it weld nicely? because I always assume the primer to work for welding had to be on both metals without any paint barriers?
İlk video ile son video arasında 1,5 yıl var.Ne zaman tamamen bitirmeyi düşünüyorsunuz? There is 1.5 years between the first video and the last video. When do you intend to complete it completely?
What kind of drill bit do u use for creating hole for spot welds? I seem to break a lot of HF bits, and the spot weld remover specialty cutting but always gets clogged and broken. Any advice welcomed! Yes I’m a repeat binge viewer…. Love this series
I just love watching your fj40 videos. I wanna start with my bj41 soon. Question: what setting do you use on the mig welder. I'm guessing 40 - 60 amps? (Maybe 60 is kinda too high) please share your inputs. Thanks a lot and more power.👍💪👌
@@Jerod_Helt I bought one and went through it quick. And now a generic DeWalt bit has been at it. I was checking to make sure I hadn't missed something. Thanks for the heads up.
@@Jerod_Helt I dont suppose that the next time you're in your garage you could give me a measurment on your brace across that back of your tub could you?
@@Jerod_Helt Perfect. I braced mine but wanted to confirm dimensions. Just in case of pre existing sag. I looked a few other places and got the same info. Thanks for posting all of the work you're doing. I'm helping my brother work on his FJ40 and we both wish we'd found your vids months ago.
Did you just get the Eastwood Contour SCT? Do you mind expanding on different applications you have used it and what drums you might recommend getting for similar work that you are doing?
I bought it for this project. I’ve been using the black stripping wheel. It works great at removing paint and rust without damaging the metal. But I am on my second wheel already and they’re not cheap
@@Jerod_Helt thanks for the info. I’m considering getting the 80 grit stripping drum, at 1/2 the price of the black one. Between my FJ40 and VW Bus projects I think this tool will be good for all the flat panels. Cheers!
Ive not watched many of your other videos but Ive seen all of this series as Im about to start working on mine. Whats the status? Do you still have it? Did you finish it?
It's the 80 grit media form Harbor Freight, but I reuse it over and over, so it's probably smaller now and definitely has some metal flakes in it. I just sweep it up and run it through a piece of screen then reuse it. 👍
I wish someone on UA-cam would do a video on how to correct a rusted main center beam that is rusted out, while the tub is on the frame... I’m so paralyzed and intimidated with no idea how to racket it without diving into a huge frame off resto... I have a fugly yet fun runner that I’m slowly patching back together and just don’t want to go down that rabbit hole of taking off the tub... because that’ll take it off the street for years
This series has become my favorite and a “go to “ for information

Great job !! Without saying a word you are teaching .. the video lasts 22 min, but how long did it really take? how many hours ?
It took a few hours a day for about 4 days 👍
You gotta pick this project back up!
I’ve been working on it slowly, I should have a new video out before too long
Nice work! Pretty much the same thing I had to do to my brothers 40. Woulda have been so nice if I had the body off of the frame!
Whens the next episode cant wait awesome workmanship
Not sure yet but hopefully soon
Este chico de verdad tiene herramienta vocacion juventud pasion y dedicacion por el trabajo, mi muy buenas vibras y bendiciones.
Hey what company are you buying those panels from?
Please, please go back to the 40! I’ve nothing against sports cars or jeeps, but I really want to see how this ends up!

Any updates on the land cruiser? I paused mine at the same stage around the same time as you, looking for some motivation to get back into it.
I will be back on it soon

Haha I was thinking the same thing, it’s all about that 45 degree angle!
I hope you are well greetings and that you continue to make restorations.

It welded fine. I use a flux core welding rod, it will weld through just about anything👍
Checking daily for your next FJ video to be uploaded, you must be taking a break, any idea when you will be back on it? Love what you are doing.
İlk video ile son video arasında 1,5 yıl var.Ne zaman tamamen bitirmeyi düşünüyorsunuz?
There is 1.5 years between the first video and the last video. When do you intend to complete it completely?
It’s usually takes a few years for a full restoration 👍
Thanks for the clip. So helpful.
What's up with updates ? We need our weekly feed.. Good work,
by the way
Interesting are you using por 15 in lieu of seem sealer? Clever
I will also use seam sealer where it was originally used👍
where did fj40 go, will u be finishing it up? loved the episodes
I’ll get back on the FJ after I finish the fiat
I didn’t know they made vises like that.
What kind of drill bit do u use for creating hole for spot welds? I seem to break a lot of HF bits, and the spot weld remover specialty cutting but always gets clogged and broken. Any advice welcomed! Yes I’m a repeat binge viewer…. Love this series
I just use a regular drill bit 👍
I don't know if I will get a response but what is the point of putting the POR 15 on the interior on the corners and all that?
To protect the bare metal and prevent rust
Jared, what happened with the Land Cruiser? Awesome built!
I still have it, I’ll be working on it again soon

My welder has a chart with settings based on the thickness of the metal. I just use the recommended settings👍
Are you using a particular bit to ut the spot welds?
No just a regular drill bit. I’ve tried the spot weld bits, but they don’t seem to last very long

So what color will you paint it when completed? I love the Toyota Orange. Great videos. Thanks for sharing your builds.
I’m painting it it’s original color which is a grayish blue👍
