after 10 yrs with the same lineup they can read each other like a book, and they enjoy it, also since they are all top tier musicians there's none of the rock star ego crap about 1 or 2 members carrying the band, they also all collaborate writing the music, of course it starts with Kanami, but she gives them "suggestions" of what she is hearing in her head so they all can participate, the drum line the bass line, she doesnt let her ego get in the way of making the song sound right, the lyrics (word placements and cadence) are up to Miku and Saiki
I agree with you 100%, you can hear when a musician or a band is having fun doing what they do! Saiki outdid herself that night! Not just vocally, but especially when it comes to coming out of her shell. In the past she was called 'Ice Queen' and there were reasons for that. She was shy and reserved. In recent years, you've seen little or nothing of that. And that is reflected in her vocal performance and her presence. She always has been, but now more than ever (imo) she is irreplaceable for this band. ❤🔥🤘🏻 _____________________ 「 _"Our rock never dies ever. Forever!"_ 」 - from *BAND-MAID* - 'Manners' 🎶🕊

I am the old school rock fan. I stumbled onto Band-Maid just before they released Unleash and it did not take me long to figure out that these ladies know exactly what they're dong. "Thrill" was good, "Manners/Black Hole" was impressive, and then I watched "Onset" and realized I was in the presence of legendary talent. I immediately looked to see if they would be touring anywhere near me, because I already regret the number of bands that I've missed seeing and will never be able to see. Then I saw "From Now On" and I was on my hands and knees searching for my dropped jaw. The Maids are flat out amazing and they top themselves with every new release. Most bands go through a 3 year cycle and then either fade away or fall into a rut, but Band-Maid seems to have figured out the formula for keeping themselves fresh and innovative. I joined their fan club - something I have never done in my entire life - and I do not regret it. That's how I know when Band-Maid are touring or streaming. That's why I was able to get tickets to see them in May of '23 on the "10Ant" tour. I got up early on the Sunday after Thanksgiving to watch the live stream from Yokohama Arena where "Don't you tell me" was number 8 on a set list of 33 songs! They kept that energy level up there for 3 and a half hours with never a dull moment. There were several Misa-Kanami duels and there was even a Miku-Kanami dual lead on one song. (reminded me of Hide & Pata!) You have to admire their work ethic. You have to admire their willingness to reexamine their music and try new things, experiment, and tweak things. Yes, young rockers: look at THIS BAND, they're doing it the right way, and doing it with smiles on their faces. The happiest metal band on the planet.
You get it. Even after ten years, these ladies still care for each other deeply and they LOVE playing together. You can see it. You can hear it. You can feel it. They just bring happiness, plain and simple. 🥰
Absolutely spot on analysis. It's amazing how many old pros watch their live videos and they're just grinning from ear to ear by the end. 5 very talented people who seriously rock and have their own unique sound that straddles different sub genres.
This is a Japanese band (I know, duh) that has spent 10 years growing a super loyal fan base online. The maid concept may raise an eyebrow here but listen to the music and it's just pure, fun rock that generations of us have missed. They are simply really, really good and have worked their ass off to be that way. They live streamed this concert from Yokohama Arena in Japan and there were 30+ songs and strong from beginning to end. They spent most of last year touring Japan and the US with 3 or 4 festivals sprinkled in like Afteshock and Lalapalooza. I saw them in Nashville and Chicago and will again when they come through.
I completely agree. The guitar dual is ao welcome. However the musicians must truly be having as much fun (or more) as the audience for it to actually pull it off. I can see (and hear)that they like and care about other. They actually smile and laugh with each other and the Maidiacs. I really don't call this a "battle" . I think that it's more of a debate with Minchu and Misa, with Akane playing the role of moderator on drums. I have been fed to the teeth with tatted up scowling ugly guys dressed in black playing everything at 230 bpm showing us everything that They know how to do in 20 seconds. Band Maid are not the best or fastest musical shredders. However I think that they make the best musical choices in song structure and song writing.
BAND-MAID are now the touchstone for what it means to be _Rockstars._ "All right you primitive screwheads, listen up! You see this? This... is my *boomstick!"* - MISA, Army of Darkness
I agree with you 100%. And because of that Joy and Glow, it's the reason you will always have a smile on your face when you see or hear them. No matter how happy or dark the song is. You will be smiling.😎🤘✌️
Hi Eric thanks for the great reaction to my request. Yes I am Issanman, confusing as I have a different handle on Discord and Twitch to what I have on UA-cam. This was one of the songs from their 33 song 3.5+ hours set at Yokohama arena on November 2023, the finale concert of their 10th anniversary tour. The ladies were fabulous for the whole concert and Saiki was just on fire and so engaging with the audience, really enjoying herself. In the early days a lot of people nicknamed her the Ice Queen, but I think that was totally mistaken, she was just not very confident and shy. However all their constant touring in Japan,Europe and USA etc has given her vast experience and she is now very comfortable as being a fantastic frontwoman. You are correct as well in that her vocals keep getting better, they are now more powerful (they would have to be to last for such a long concert, and I have noticed she now introduces some grit and rasp into her voice when required. Kanami is such an unassuming sweetheart until she straps on a guitar, and she will eitheer be away in a world of her own when soloing or have a smile on her face. Their one hour live performance at Lollapalooza has a double song Dice / Hate where again Kanami and Misa have an epic conversation on guitar and bass, Saiki just smiling in appreciation all the way through it. These members really like and appreciate one another. You are also probably correct about why a lot of older fans like them so much. My music from about 1967 onwards was mostly guitar based bands/music, e.g. Santana, Led Zeppelin, Frank Zappa, SRV, Cream, Rory Gallagher and a lotof the blues guys like Muddy Waters, Freddy King, Buddy Guy etc. A quote I love from Rolling Stone about their Lollapalooza performance that I love - !They lured curious onlookers into the fold when highlights like “Domination” and “Don’t You Tell Me” got huge reactions from the crowd, but it was the bass solo-versus-guitar solo duels mid-song that got the biggest cheers. This is what those guys in Guitar Center think their ridiculous riffing sounds like. Turns out it’s done best, and most effortlessly, by women in black-and-white maid dresses and frilly hair-pieces as they smile ear to ear
@@vanessalore9942 It IS crazy, right? I woke up at 3am to watch the livestream of this show and I was like "How many frickin' songs are they going to play?!" They clearly put everything they had into planning this show (months and months of preparation I bet) because ten years as a band is a big deal and it only happens once. They did not disappoint. 😁
Watch DICE/HATE? from Lalapalooza 2023 if you haven't seen it yet for a great bass/gtr battle. You'll enjoy it. I'm 72 and they reignited my love of rock, at least their brand, when I was 66. I'll keep listening as long as they keep playing and I think greater things are coming from them. As their lyric from Unleash says, "We are holding up the flag."
I completely agree with you, and your assessment of why so many "rock veterans" like this band. I can only speak from experience, but I'm a musician who's agonized over what part to put where and maybe how to phrase something when writing a song or even a riff. As such, when I listen to music I am naturally going to pick up on things like compositions and arrangements. After years of this, you can become jaded at the lack of creativity in this department. A lot of people feel this way I think. So, when a band like Band-Maid comes along, writing songs the way Kanami does, it is literal honey to your ears. Kanami is literally the artist that I always really wanted to be. Hearing Kanami's compositions is like watching Jordan, Kobe, or Lebron play basketball. That's on top of her G3 level skills as an individual player. I think that it could even be argued that Band-Maid are actually a prog band whose songs just happen to be short and catchy. I've also joked that Band-Maid are the best 90s band that I've ever heard. I say that though not because they sound like anyone in particular. Rather because it was very common at that time for bands and artists to be highly diverse and draw from many different influences, and then present those influences in yet unimagined ways. The ladies are experts at this. I enjoyed your review, but I enjoyed your statement about this even more because you touched on something about this band that I totally agreed with. Cheers Eric!
Wonderful discussion, Eric, of the sheer joy that Band-Maid exudes when they perform on stage before a live audience. They were born to do this, and it shows.
I'm one of those types that dig through music to see what makes it tick. Back many decades ago I went to school to be a musician. I studied music theory and music history, I played orchestra and jazz and took any gig that paid money (and some that didn't). Genre doesn't mean as much as some people think - there are some fundamental truths that apply to all music. They applied to J. S. Bach as much as they apply to W. C. Handy or Miles Davis, or Kanami Tōno. You don't have to know it's being done, it still works. It seems like magic; it still works. One of the fundamental truths is that music is emotional. Your teacher tells you how to vary the tempo and connect notes, how to get louder in places and softer in other places, and all of that is to express the emotion in the music. How did Angus' practice become a song? Even though it was "only" practice, he was playing it musically and Mal recognized that. _Every_ member in Band-Maid does this. Drummers notice how Akane plays - not that she does anything impossible but she plays musically (and she's not a piker by any measure)! The same for MISA - she's my favorite bassist not because she plays notes nobody else can but because she plays musically, with style and grace. The whole band is a sum greater than the parts _because_ they are all equals. Saiki gets noticed because she stands in the spotlight but Miku is doing the exact same things and it works. Even if you don't notice it, even if it seems like magic, _it still works._
Just your smile tells me all I need to know. Yes, it is an "everyday occurrence". BAND-MAID incorporate guitar conversations but they do it the correct way for me. Peace. 18.3
I've probably got you by five years and have seen a hundred great bands ranging from Bowie to ZZTop, but I've found the band of my life in Band-Maid and it was totally unexpected. If someone had told my 18 year-old self in 1975 that I would become all-in for an all female Japanese rock band later on in life, I would have asked them what they were smoking, and do they have any more. 😵💫
Best take on Band-Maid to date! Misa vs Kanami= Clash of Titans. I miss those days as well, and these ladies get it, and deliver! Maid service extraordinaire!
Love it ❤. Don't know why but bands like this and Aldious ,Baby Metal, Mary's Blood etc etc makes my 60 year old metal ❤ very happy. Keep rocking 🤘. Greetings metal Raven, Netherlands
I agree 100% with everything you said. Every time I watch this video I can’t help but think how Saiki has matured and become an amazing front woman. And you said about breath control is on point. There’s an early live recording of this song and a couple of times you can hear her run out of breath on a couple of phrases. And that is not an insult because if you try to sing this song some of those phrases are hard and there’s few places to catch a breathe. It doesn’t happen here and you get the feeling that she is so comfortable now, just like you mentioned. And what more can be said about the “conversation” (as I like to call it) between Kanami and Misa? Just as the first concert I saw them do this song and this song the pure joy you see on their faces is a captivating as the solos themselves. There’s a cool moment that flies by so fast it’s hard to catch the first time one watches this video. Just at the end of their duet, as the camera pans out, you can see on the large projection screen that Akane looks of her shoulder to them and smiles. Well, she’s always smiling that’s a given! 😊
From Japan BAND-MAID is celebrating its 11th year with the same five members. They are a group like a college basketball team. They respect each person's abilities and continue to make efforts to improve their own abilities, and when all 5 come together, they demonstrate great strength. They sometimes describe themselves as a sports group. During their activities, Saiki and Miku underwent throat surgery, and Akane injured her lower back and changed her playing style. Miku couldn't play the guitar, but with Kanami's guidance she came to where she is today. With the support of her friends, Kanami continued composing for over two years before finally being allowed to record it. They are bright and smiling, but have various dramas to achieve success. And they are continuing to work hard towards an album that will be released in August. And every time they release an album, there are more surprises than expected.
Great react. You said Thunderstruck...watch Puzzle (live from Tokyo garden theater). Also yeah the exchanges, the intros, and the interludes during their concerts are amazing, and to see them all smiling and laughing while they do it, it's an atmosphere I've never experienced with anyone else.
Band-Maids genre is Band-Maid. Hard rock, punk, pop punk, thrash, metal, alt, prog with blues and jazz sprinkled in because MISA likes jazz and why the hell not.
I feel like the last 3 years I've been rotating Band Maid, The Warning, and Jinjer in my listening choices. I've seen 2 of them live, and they are phenomenal, but I have to see Band Maid live. They are on another level.
Yes you are correct , I`m 70 , discovered BAND-MAID 5 or 6 yrs ago , saw them twice once 2022 n 2023 , about the energy thing so true , saw them in Seattle 2022 first stand alone show , they weren't expecting the reception they got n love from the audience , they felt it and we felt it from them , thats why , Kanami started writing the tune for Memorable so soon during the tour , every show I think they were shocked by the audiences .
Your comment that great performance with joy on the stage was missed so long is exactly what I felt. We shouted out for guitar/keyboard duel of Richie Blackmore and Jon Lord and two guitars of Judas Priest at that years. BAND-MAID brought us the joy of live rock music with the great musicianship. Like as Deep purple's Made in Japan has never bored, BAND-MAID music is always fresh!😍🎀
They understood the assignment and then redefined what the assignment is. Yes, you're 100% correct its the little things that Band-Maid does that makes them so appealing to us gentlemen of a particular age. This little call and response pales in comparison to what MISA and Kanami do later in the show during the song Hate? It is FUCKING EPIC. I am so happy that I got to travel to Japan to be in the audience for this show, six rows back on the floor on MISA's side (wearing a fluorescent green shirt so I can see myself in these videos).
Man you nailed this! This band absolutely drives me wylde! It has been so long since I have heard good/great metal/rock. Thanks for pointing out Saiki's growth as a performer. I originally was a bit offish about her, but God I now absolutely LOVE her voice. What a performer she has become and what magic she brings to the band. These women are superb and I can't wait to see them again live in the states. As always Eric, I love your reactions and the insightful analyisis you bring to them. Please don't stop!
Saiki reached another level at last year's Tokyo Garden Theater okyuji and she's been bringing it ever since. She has definitely found a level of comfort and confidence. Thanks for the reaction!
Thumbs up, great as always. If you want to see the perfect proof of your description of Band-Maid then check out their performance of "Hate" at Lollapalooza 2023. A true delight and something the world has yet to see in this century. And that's no exaggeration.😊
Great observations. Good to see you come back to BM. Your spot on about Saiki. Her voice just keeps on getting stronger as does her confidence. All five members are top tier as well. Gotta make a comment on the Bad Company CD. One of the best first albums of all time. 8 great songs, no fillers. Paul Rodgers and Robert Plant are my favourite rock singers of all time ( Saiki is closing in though). Keep on rockin Eric!
We do miss the old school guitar duals so much. The Japenese bands like Lovebites, Band-Maid and Nemophila have taken up the cause. Nailed it again Eric.
Band Maid are master chefs blending classic rock ingredients into a brand new delicious dish we’ve never tasted before After your mention of AC/DC “Thunderstruck,” I enthusiastically recommend Band Maid’s official live version of “Puzzle”
I'm old enough to get what you are talking about, and I just hope that they younger generations will too! All music can't be made in hit factories and by AI. If so, music would mean nothing.
Great point on the ramps and drops in rock vocals. Saiki's vocals are so consistently steady and strong. And for every song of a show that can be 19-25 songs. For more typical and frequent ramps and drops, compare, for example, Bono of U2. I caught BAND-MAID live in Minneapolis, and was impressed by her endurance and control of her voice. And, my being about three rows back, it was easy to see she was having fun performing, too. Just like the whole band!
You are spot on about Saiki. Having followed Band Maid, almost from the start, her confidence has indeed grown. Her whole persona oozes confidence these days. Apart from Miku, the musicianship has always been good. In the early days the songs were written for them but Kanami, arranged them and was already writing songs and teaching Miku, guitar. It did not take Band Maid, too long to all become proficient song writers and arrangers in their own right. It is not just guitar battles it is the joy and fun that Band Maid, have when they perform on stage. So much better than what many old school rockers were weened on.
I am older than you are, it was Hendrix at that time, he played alone but he was a 1 1/2 musician. I love Band-Maid probably because of their interactions.
I haven't seen anyone do a guitar/bass exchange like that since Vai and Sheehan went on tour with David Lee Roth. The era of 12 min progressive tracks may be over, but these ladies know their strengths and stretch it out live.
Yes yes yes! 53 year old hard rock/ meyal head here, love and uaed to miss the guitar back and forth! Then came these amazing ladies from Japan! I have fallen in love with Band Maid, Lovebites, and Nemophila, all for the different aspects that each band delivers! Absolute KILLER music! Love your insight and reactions as well. Even though there aren't any guitar duals I love the sisters from Mexico as well.
This was the opening song from "Just Bring It", their fourth album and the first on which they had full creative control. You can hear the full "Band-Maid Sound" already. They have kept it on the set list ever since and added the duelling solos just for live shows. Thanks for checking this out!
Yes dude ,😉and if you want from this incredible band listen another probably better guitar duelle check they live performance from Lollapalooza festival last year!!!The song Hate... you can find here on YT with together another song it's Dice 😉 Enjoy!!! And again YES DUDE!!!
Yes as folks are pointing out..DICE/HATE? from Lalapalooza 2023..Camera work is not great at times...but you'll get the gist!. ..Article in "Rolling Stone Magaizne" "Japanese Rockers Band-Maid Put Guitar Center Showoffs to Shame" "There’s a pun to be made about how much Band-Maid ripped, but the Japanese group goes even harder than that. Fluctuating between hard rock, aughts nu-metal, and pop rock, each member of the quintet is a virtuoso in her own right with more than a decade of practice in Band-Maid alone. They lured curious onlookers into the fold when highlights like “Domination” and “Don’t You Tell Me” got huge reactions from the crowd, but it was the bass solo-versus-guitar solo duels mid-song that got the biggest cheers. This is what those guys in Guitar Center think their ridiculous riffing sounds like. I know I'm biased but why isn't Band-Maid bigger? It can't be just because of the language barrier because look at acts like BTS. When a band is this talented, this tight and this memorable how are they not dominating the radio right now?
Language DOES play a factor. That cannot be disregarded. Bigger factor, though, is that they are playing a genre of music that is not popular anymore. BTS may sing in (mostly) Korean, but their musical style is essentially R&B/Hip-Hop, which IS the popular genre these days.
Sorry to break it to you bud, but talent alone is not enough to guarantee you'll go big. Glad you mentioned BTS. They're the biggest male Kpop group in the world right now, and BlackPink is their female counterpart. I've been a Kpop fan since 2011, and I'm telling you that there are groups that are far more talented than both BTS and BP.

Great reaction and that you big up Saiki. The last couple of years she has become a real force. The Yokohama Arena show in Nov 2023 was a peak of all elements of live performance- particularly Saiki's voice, but also the power of Miku's rhythm guitar playing. The DVD of the show is due for release soon.
Sometimes they expand the middle section like this, sometimes you get disappointed because there was no "conversation" or drum solo in your fav song, then boom, they bring something special in the 😊 transition to the next song or completely change the whole intro of the next song. They always give you something special to look forward to. I wouldn't mind if they release the collection of every single mid-section "chat" or their different intros sometime in the future😊
Love Band Maid. My favorite band. Being that you like the guitar dual, I was going through your videos and didn't see a reaction to their song "Hate" from Lollapalooza. Awesome back and forth between MISA and Kanami on that one. Though the camera operators could have done a better job of capturing the whole thing. They probably didn't know what was going to hit them. Anyway here is the link: ua-cam.com/video/OvtKRZ9xt3E/v-deo.html
You nailed it, Eric. There are a couple of bands that I do like, but I'd LOVE them if they had a guitarist that could play a solo and if they'd give their drummer (one of the best on Earth) a freaking drum solo. (cough - Pineapple Thief) That said, I've heard younger folks, including reactors, go on and on about how they hate guitar solos and how it's so "boomer-esque" or cliche or whatever. I'd like to tell them hey, your band doesn't do that because they can't, dude. They flat out can't do it because they don't practice. But I'm too nice to say that 🙂
I can only compare BAND-MAID with Deep Purple 68-75. Nothing else comes to mind. (I've seen and heard a lot. Started studying music in 1970. Played in a band since 1975)
Nice one 👍 Akane is a Deep Purple fan and while she has her own amazing unbelievably talented style every now and then I hear a little bit of Ian Paice come through and that's fine by me, cheers 🍻

I agree with you 100%. And because of that Joy and Glow, it's the reason you will always have a smile on your face when you see or hear them. No matter how happy or dark the song is. You will be smiling.😎🤘✌️
Excellent reaction and analysis! Thank you so much!
33 songs is just mind blowing to me
@@vanessalore9942 It IS crazy, right? I woke up at 3am to watch the livestream of this show and I was like "How many frickin' songs are they going to play?!" They clearly put everything they had into planning this show (months and months of preparation I bet) because ten years as a band is a big deal and it only happens once. They did not disappoint. 😁
@@billb.5183 Yes the livestream was awsome
I have never seen a band who loves their fans as much as Band-Maid does and we love them just as much 😁
Watch DICE/HATE? from Lalapalooza 2023 if you haven't seen it yet for a great bass/gtr battle. You'll enjoy it. I'm 72 and they reignited my love of rock, at least their brand, when I was 66. I'll keep listening as long as they keep playing and I think greater things are coming from them. As their lyric from Unleash says, "We are holding up the flag."
Holding the flag for sure!!!
You nailed it I am 67 seen Zeppelin , finally Band Maid from 6 feet away I love them they make rock fun again.🤘🤘🤘
Akane is spectacular during the guitar/bass duel. She's always doing the right thing in every section of the song.
I could listen to you talk about Band Maid all day.
When you talk about saiki and her breath control. In puzzle you can hear her out of breath but even vocal trainers have said "where does she breath"
Kanami Tohno is the greatest composer of the modern age. Full Stop. Great reaction/analysis!
I was amoung the grey-heads in Seattle in 2022 - right in front of Misa, and I'll never forget that show. Nothing like them since ELP or Rush.
Fantastic , I was about 6 rows behind n a little left of you , great show , also saw them in Spokane in Aug 2023 .@@Zirrad1
Five amazing Japanese ladies giving we seasoned gentle people absolute joy every time we press play.
They are the best band I have heard in decades. I love them. Great reaction 🤘
Don't You Tell Me! Oh, wait! You just did. 🤘😂Thx, Eric! We're all looking forward to your next Band-Maid reaction and remarks.🧐
Great coment! Rock is not dead at all!!!.
After seeing them live 3 times it is still hard to tell who is having more fun the girls on stage or fans on the floor....
The song "Memorable" is a thank you to their fans. A ballad. Of course, very good.
Thanks Eric, love your insights 🙂
Saiki reached another level at last year's Tokyo Garden Theater okyuji and she's been bringing it ever since. She has definitely found a level of comfort and confidence. Thanks for the reaction!
honestly, just a great analysis and explanation of everything. well done
Thumbs up, great as always. If you want to see the perfect proof of your description of Band-Maid then check out their performance of "Hate" at Lollapalooza 2023. A true delight and something the world has yet to see in this century. And that's no exaggeration.😊
I love the battle between Kanami and MISA. Of course, it is Akane who is instigating the battle between the two❤❤❤
Great observations.
Best Math Metal band: Sokoninaru
Best Neo Gothic band: Yousei Teikoku
I have to tell you how much I have appreciated your reactions.
They are 💯. You've really nailed the Band Maid elements
Yes dude! We miss those duells 🔥🤘❤️ God..I love these amazing ladies 🙏🏻🤘🔥❤️
Band Maid are master chefs blending classic rock ingredients into a brand new delicious dish we’ve never tasted before
After your mention of AC/DC “Thunderstruck,” I enthusiastically recommend Band Maid’s official live version of “Puzzle”
Great words!
🤘😀🤘
You are spot on about Saiki. Having followed Band Maid, almost from the start, her confidence has indeed grown. Her whole persona oozes confidence these days.
Apart from Miku, the musicianship has always been good. In the early days the songs were written for them but Kanami, arranged them and was already writing songs and teaching Miku, guitar.
It did not take Band Maid, too long to all become proficient song writers and arrangers in their own right.
It is not just guitar battles it is the joy and fun that Band Maid, have when they perform on stage. So much better than what many old school rockers were weened on.
Yes! 62 year-old rock fan who loves the classic feel these ladies bring to their music. Love the dueling guitars like Skynard and Eagles!!!
The girls were STELLAR that night. Awesome.
I am older than you are, it was Hendrix at that time, he played alone but he was a 1 1/2 musician. I love Band-Maid probably because of their interactions.
I like that you take notes.
Dude we are just DYING to hear your reaction to HATE which is one level up from this incredible song.
But we'll be patient- maybe lol.
Yes Yes Yes guitar bass dual.
"Guitar battles with flying V's"!!!!!!!!!
Yes band maid is a super live band nice reaction greetings from Germany 🎸🤘👍
I agree with what you said about the guitar duels , us " Rock n Rollers " love that ! Steve Vai is playing in Washington,DC in 2 months.
Yes dude ,😉and if you want from this incredible band listen another probably better guitar duelle check they live performance from Lollapalooza festival last year!!!The song Hate... you can find here on YT with together another song it's Dice 😉 Enjoy!!! And again YES DUDE!!!
Yes as folks are pointing out..DICE/HATE? from Lalapalooza 2023..Camera work is not great at times...but you'll get the gist!. ..Article in "Rolling Stone Magaizne"
"Japanese Rockers Band-Maid Put Guitar Center Showoffs to Shame"
"There’s a pun to be made about how much Band-Maid ripped, but the Japanese group goes even harder than that. Turns out it’s done best, and most effortlessly, by women in black-and-white maid dresses and frilly hair-pieces as they smile ear to ear."
Malory Archer:
Mr. Slater...
Slater:
Just "Slater"! And hang on. [to Archer] Excuse me, are you and I gonna have a problem?
Sterling Archer:
[pouring a drink] I mean, I'm sure we will at some point, but...
Shhhh! They are fine.
Because in USA people only listen to ENGLISH music and watch HOLLYWOOD movies. For them the world is America.
Lobby radio to carry them, like how Rammstein “Du Hast” got picked up
Sorry to break it to you bud, but talent alone is not enough to guarantee you'll go big.
Glad you mentioned BTS. They're the biggest male Kpop group in the world right now, and BlackPink is their female counterpart.
I've been a Kpop fan since 2011, and I'm telling you that there are groups that are far more talented than both BTS and BP.
Give a double feature on the song PUZZLE

You will see that SAIKI has had a great voice for quite awhile.
YES! the dueling/call and response of the guitar and bass are needed more. BAND MAID has been doing this in many songs. I think they just don't do it the same way in each song.
Some examples would be
HATE? - ua-cam.com/video/OvtKRZ9xt3E/v-deo.html
DICE - ua-cam.com/video/ZpAYnVJX9CY/v-deo.html
They are so great and I just know they make me happy

AH, the early days, notice the "Bad Co" cd. I took Gerald Wilson jazz class in college whereby had to attend two jazz/blue concerts. Saw Freddie King at the Stardust in Hollywood and Paul Roger, Joe Cocker and Maggie Bell joined Freddie on stage:)
Rocking performance, especially those drums.🤘😆🤘
MISA MISA MISA!!!!!
Very well said Sir!
Well said.
Musician loves the band because they cover all the details
Yes, yes dude yes, that's exactly what i believe
Best Power/Trash Metal band: Lovebites
Best Hard Rock band: Band-Maid

Love Band Maid. My favorite band. Being that you like the guitar dual, I was going through your videos and didn't see a reaction to their song "Hate" from Lollapalooza. Awesome back and forth between MISA and Kanami on that one. Though the camera operators could have done a better job of capturing the whole thing. They probably didn't know what was going to hit them. Anyway here is the link: ua-cam.com/video/OvtKRZ9xt3E/v-deo.html
"I need some more guitar battles." Have you heard "Play" official live?
Same concert HATE? you will enjoy that one too!
But I'm too nice to say that 🙂
Well Spoken Man! 😎
Great analysis
Check out the track Hate. Crushing song
Not a metal head, but totally agree with you Eric on the dueling :)
Saiki had vocal node surgery before the most recent tour. The confidence and vocal power is a serious weapon now.
🤘
👍👍👍👍👍
🤘🤘🤘
🤘🔥
I can only compare BAND-MAID with Deep Purple 68-75. Nothing else comes to mind. (I've seen and heard a lot. Started studying music in 1970. Played in a band since 1975)
Nice one 👍 Akane is a Deep Purple fan and while she has her own amazing unbelievably talented style every now and then I hear a little bit of Ian Paice come through and that's fine by me, cheers 🍻
BTW Deep Purple: This part was always so familiar- Then I realized: Listen to Turn me on 2018 Tokyo livet at 3:32 Mincho plays the same as in Highway star John Lord solo from 2:13
