When asked about influences, Kanami always sites Santana. The solo on Don't you tell ME (whether on the studio version or all the live versions I've seen on video or in person) feels the most "Santana-esque" to my ears.
Guys, this was so epic, and enhanced by the looks on your faces, lol. As we all know, Kanami likes to throw the kitchen sink when she does solos, but this time she really outdid herself. I heard Carlos Santana, some Deep Purple/Rush tones, a touch of Lynyrd Skynyrd and even a hint of surf rock. And what more can be said about Akane that hasn't already been said..........her fills not only during the entire song, but during that solo also, were sheer perfection. And the sight of her smiling and laughing continuously from start to finish is just the epitome of Band maid in a nutshell. And Sai-Chan.........wow, just WOW !!!!!! She was literally luminous out on that stage and she was in total control, which is just want the crowd there and at every other show they have done wants, to be led by a master. She has made herself into a bonafide star !!!! Watching her strut her stuff on that stage was worth three times the price of admission. And those new glam maid outfits were just perfect and brings out a slightly different and more mature look and feel. Seeing Kanami standing up there at the beginning with that sly smile on her face showed she was definitely on her game. Everyone was just perfect.
This was Band Maid's 10th anniversary tour finale at Yokohama Arena in front of 18,000 fans. They played for 3 and a half hours. Members of other bands such as Lovebites and Nemophila were in attendance as well.
Chris and Sam, I'm so glad you guys got a chance to react to this song. As one former long time DJ said while reacting to the song, said "for all you young rock bands out there, this is how you do it!" I really love the most unnoticed part of this song, Akane understated but perfect drumming during Kanami and Misa's solos, accentuating their performances.
I can see that the playing ability of all of them is top level in the world. However, the most amazing thing is that all the members are enjoying playing music.
Saiki was on fire for the entire show! I've been to a bunch of concerts and I don't think I've heard her better. All the Maids gave it their all in this Okyu-ji! PO!!! 🕊
That was a perfect place to stop to discuss the solos: Look at the huge grins on the face of Akane and Kanaimi. One of the best descriptors for this amazing band: sheer joy for the and for us.
This was the conversation between Mincho & MISA about music. Later on they had a full blown argument. In the end, they agreed that both could be the lead guitarist in the band. That is the Band-Maid sound. It works so well, they have created their own genre. The BAND-MAID genre, which is however they want to play is what they play. Thanks for the reaction guys, it had been too long. Cheers!
I think this is the only bass with the PJ setup MISA has. It's a monster. Hey, Otoboke Beaver is playing The Beacham in Orlando on Saturday March 30. Last show of their North American tour before heading to Europe.
