Hi, don't worry caladium have dormancy period. Yes they will come back just don't throw the bulbs away, keep it watered but no need to soak. This is a good time to propagate it too, cut the bulbs in pieces to create more plants. Hope this helps.
@@Mayaloves-123 Hey also how do you know which direction to plant the tubers when you cut them. Does it matter which way you plant ar will the leaves just follow the sunlight when they grow? Hope this is nit a dumb question 🙄 😆 🤣
nice video po, very helpful, gaano po katagal dormancy nila? kaya pala thai beauty ko sobrang ganda dati biglang namamatay mga dahon, mauubos na nga, so di ko muna pala galawin yung pot taniman ko na sana e
Usually within 8 to 10 weeks po. Medyo matagal din kaya minsan kala natin patay na we are re-using the soil for other plants tapos biglang may tutubo nalang after dormancy. Basta iwan lang po sa pot and wait for it to re-emerge. 👍😊
Hello great tips! I hv a caladium thats been loyally growing for past year or so, started wf huge leaves, now leaves are getting smaller n smaller, n no more new leaf growth since past few weeks :( i think is going into dormancy. Do u think is a good time to dig out the bulbs and propogate now, or should I just leave it alone n let it do its thing?😅
Hi! Yes your calads are going into dormancy, and yap now is the best time to propagate. Once they start sprouting you'll enjoy lusher plants. Good luck with your propagation ❤👍
I bought bulbs from the store..So I wanted to know if can I still cut them like you did? Or do I need to wait for the caladium to grow into a plant first and then propagate? Thank you for your time and helpful videos 😁
Hi! Since you bought the bulbs, absolutely Yes you can cut them at least half before you plant. This is the best time to cut them instead of waiting. Good luck with your calads! ❤
@@Doggland I'm curious, did you try cutting your bulbs in half? Did they grow? For others reading, when cutting dormant Caladium bulbs before planting, it's better to let the cut dry for a few days before planting to reduce risk of rot. And if planting outside, night temperatures should be consistently above 10°C.
Very informative po. May "right side" up po ba when you plant the bulbs? I have an expensive red emperor, i want to propagate it, hati-hatiin ko lang po ba yung bulbs? Nakakanerbyos baka di tumubo, mahal pa naman...
Hi! Thanks for dropping by ☺. For the "right side", preferably nakaibabaw yung mga "eyes" dun kc lalabas new sprouts. Sila yung mga nakaumbok. Don't be scared na hati hatiin, d mamamatay yang bulb and mas Dadami kc if u cut them, better chance of propagation too. To be safe para d ka masyado matakot kahit cut it into 2 lang muna and 2 separate pots. Yung iba gumagamit ng vacuum method for expensive caladiums para easier mag sprout, balutin mo lang yung pot in plastic. There are a lot of tutorials din here on YT. @@patioplants679 hi, wag babad sa water ha, keep it moist but not soaking wet. I don't use fungicide e but usually they use it with cuttings para d daw madali mabulok and protect the cut. I use rooting hormones for other plants but not for Calads.
Hi! Even growing tubers I keep the soil moist. Then tuloy lang pag tumubo na. There's another method which is propagation box, walang butas for drainage and misting lang mas mabilis tumubo ang tubers dun.
I did this and now my caladiums that I cut the Tubers on are dying :( They are dropping and loosing colour, any suggestions? Do yours die after cutting?
Hi! You may have cut too much and hurt the plant, you should leave a portion of the tuber to the mother plant and the roots. While recovering don't put them in direct sunlight. But if you totally remove all the tubers and roots from the plant I'm sorry but it won't survive. Just wait for the new babies to grow from the tubers. Good luck!
Sugiro que corte em 3 se o bulbo for pequeno e em 4 se for grande, e passa pó de canela, no local do corte e espera pelo menos 24 horas para coloca-los na terra. Espero que de certo. Where do you get your bulbs from? is there a specific online store that you would usually go for? I have purchased some from shopee and lazada, but they are all fake seeds.
Yap I've tried purchasing seeds online and they are all fake. My bulbs are from my old plants purchased from local suppliers but I have tried purchasing from Mindanao thru a shopee store, but I bought a plant not seedlings. They ship the plant with the bulb attach, the leaves will wilt but as long as you have the bulb that's ok. Try caladium lovers group on FB, there are a lot of online sellers there and at least you'll know that they are legit based on the member's experience. Hope that helps! 😊
Or 1 bulb then locate the eyes mag de-eyeing ka, ukitin mo mga eyes ha, para gaganda usbong nya.
Hello! Please help!!! I recently visited a tropical country with absolutely gorgeous plants and saw caladiums plentiful growing, I uprooted some without any bulbs or roots and I currently have them in a glass with distilled water and sphagnum peat moss soil. Do you think it will eventually grow new roots and can potentially survive? I notice the green and pink color getting lighter :( Thank you for your advice!
Hi, oh no, I'm so sorry to tell you but there's a little chance those will grow roots. You should have taken the bulbs, they are more important. There are a lot selling bulbs for overseas shipment you can buy online. I hope your that one you got will last a while. Sorry to burst your bubble, but keep them in water, maybe they are a part of that small %. Keep your hopes up! Good luck!
Try again with new tubers! I am happy with mine from a shop called Blue Buddha Farm. You can look them up. They shop from South Carolina and are a small business.

Omg i bought a bunch of bulbs from a caladuim festival and cane home and chopped a few up and my arm and neck was burning... I had no idea until now that they were toxic should i be worried.i had no gloves
Oh no, observe it first. If still burning after a few hrs rub on some ointment, if getting worst then consult a doctor. But normally it clears after a while. I hope you'll feel better.
@@carissajohnson5994 hi, that's great to know. I don't think it will be that bad, it normally fades after a while. Take extra care next time. Enjoy your beautiful caladiums soon!
