I read this will yield more from a tuber but had no clue exactly what to do. Seeing your demo on locating the eyes and creating the scar bolstered my confidence to do it. The tip to wait 2 - 3 days before planting was valuable too. Thanks!
I really like the caladium plant. I want to ask, after the bulbs are matched, how much longer can it be planted. ok greetings from medan city, indonesia
It was difficult to determine what was up or should be pointed to dirt. I’ll have to try some more. Mine I purchased are way smaller and less easy to determine position in soil.
Thanks! I'm new to growing caladiums, didn't know any different and bought #2 bulbs. I thought the smaller tubers meant the leaves would be small. I have only a small strip of garden ground. Can I cut out eyes in store bought small bulbs?
My question is the the part you cut (flower that was growing ) that was taking up energy , what it would've looked like (leaves or flowers) I'm just wondering &twill they continue to grow ?
I have a Caladium I bought from Lowe's home improvement and I brought it home and planted it and we did have some wind . I live 20 miles outside of Houston TX and I did't know these plants where for shade... I have no shade where i live and im 100 yds from the bay .. we had a kinda strong south east wind blow for a few days , i kept turning the plant around and yesterday I saw them and several of the stalks where flopping over.. what should i do.. cut these back these that are dropping over and let the growth go to the others that are still standing ???
put A stick in ground tie string around the flowers that are leaning i cut mine back grew stronger and bigger in shade i do have some growing in full sun not as good the caladums in shade
Ok, never mind I just researched it. Planting the eyes top side up in the soil will be better in its growing process. I am new at growing Caladium, it will be my first time helping them come out of dormancy. Thank you for this video!
I never even knew these could be outdoor plants we’ve only had them inside because out 25+ mph winds rip them apart the second we step outside same with roses sadly
Oh never mind about how flower look that's grows on the caladiums , i google image of them .. Not too attractive. Yes I think I would prefer to cut too if they grow b, but thanks again for your video. Blessings
Depends on ur soil mate caladium like well airated and moist soil mix mine I use rice husk and coco peat I scope some mixture in put it in a pot throw the bulb scope some mixture again and leave it in a bright shady area
Caladiums are winter hardy to USDA zone 9, meaning that they should be able to survive the winter outdoors. Even in these areas, though, a heavy mulching of 3 inches is the recommended winter care for caladiums to keep them from dying in the colder temperatures. In USDA zones 8 and lower, winter care for caladium bulbs involves digging them up and bringing them inside to go dormant. Put inside by a sunny windowsill
After scaring them and letting it scab over, do you place the eyes facing up from the soil?
Ok, never mind I just researched it. Planting the eyes top side up in the soil will be better in its growing process. I am new at growing Caladium, it will be my first time helping them come out of dormancy. Thank you for this video!
