- Day 3 of our ride to Borrego is here!! & We basically just explored the desert and ran around being chopper brats on our bikes!
Melissa Gee is on her 1976 Honda CB 750, and Kahli Gibson and I (Becky Goebel) are on early 2000's Harley Davidson Sportster Choppers.
This is the 3rd part of a 3 part series of our ride out to Borrego Springs, California to watch the Eclipse & see the Super Bloom.

I just found your channel. I saw day 2 first then had to back and watch day 1, then this one. Great videos! It was fun until the bike wouldn't start again. I know what its like to be stranded in the mountains with no cell service. Had to hunt down a landline. Same thing as Melissa. I stopped for a break, went to start back up and nothin'. Three hours and $400 later got home with a tow truck. Actually met a lot of nice people that day. Definitely coulda been worse.
Get a test-light and google how to use it, that bike had no spark/ignition...and a test-light would find the fault. Love the vibe!!!

I enjoyed your ride to Borrego Springs. I was born and raised in San Diego. I went to Carlee's all the time, hung out at The Hideaway and spent time up in Julian. Keep the rubber side down and enjoy your rides.

only premium for my Italian Princess, '03 monster 800sie, btw, bring a foot of battery wire with you for extra stretch, you could swap batteries if its the alternator and push start one of yours
If the battery is boiling the regulator/rectifier is bad , look for Burt wires where they connect, get some pod filters on there keep the dust out

Was it the alternator? Had a 77 CB750 and had to get it rewound. Apparently it's a common fault. Glad to see everyone got home safe in the end.
maybe the rectifier is fauty... it makes the battery goes hot! then this fry and melts the circuit.
That's what I was going to say based on the sound it made the first time. Sounds like the regulator is overcharging and cooking the battery.

So I only use 93 octane preferably from Chevron in my 2013 Trail Hawk Jeep and it's getting freaking expensive 🫰🏼

Tell Melissa she might want to try an antigravity cell . They are half the size of a conventional battery so you might be able to insulate it or mount it in a cooler place. I had a cb 750 chopper years ago and was always worried about the battery overheating.
Always Chevron 94 if I can find it for my bikes. My trucks can suffer with whatever’s cheap tho lol
Nobody has a battery pack to jump start ? A must have along with a tow strap to tow for emergencies. Left your friend sad news !

It would be nice to have some innertube rubber to cut up and wrap around the battery and Insulated it so it does not short out on something.
Funny, At the Start of this Video I almost commented that the Honda would be the most reliable bike if it didn't have cobbled wiring , you could use it to tow the HD's

Up here in Canada they rate the octanes a lil different. I have an old car that needs 94octane from petro-canada or it'll ping, but the bike runs on whatever.
Edit: while trying to bump start the blue bike, did y'all try swapping batteries between the bikes?

AAA is a game changer. First 500 buck for each of your available tows for bike, if you have RV added to your policy. I did ride out without it. No doubt. No need to curse and shout. Just reach out...and wait, hope you Skate. 😂😂
