Videos like these make me wish I'd bought a Sportster instead of my Dyna (which -in all fairness- I love) Sporties are badass tho, good work! Thanks for the vid, Imma keep it as reference.
I love your approach man - very relatable for someone just getting into customizing. Mistakes will (and prob should) be made in order to figure things out. Support yourself, but also, don't take yourself too serious. Keep it up!
Thank you! I love the lowbrow hardtail and adding the extended forks really dialed it in. Best part about it is it handles super well, all things considered.

Had an iron head that ran like crap after extending the front end because I determined that the carburetor float bowl was on a too extreme angle. My solution was to run the intake manifold through a bandsaw to separate the outer flange and welded it to a level position. Took about an hour and cost me nothing. Bike ran as good as it did before longer tubes.
@@SUPPORTYOURSELF Probably others have figured that out also. Built lots of bikes over my 61 years, was a bike mechanic for 5 years. In 1976 I helped an older friend ( I was 13) build a 1951 panhead “61inch” chopper with a 15” over girder, raked and stretched frame, jockey shift that he still has. I’ve rode it several times and he is leaving it to me when he’s gone, so I can take care of it.
awsome im just beginning my motorcycle adventure. Ive been a Trucker for 20 years; currently a fuel truck driver. Im going for my motorcycle license next month and hope to get a used sportster. I gave loved them since i was a kid and now is the time to get it.
Just stumbled on your channel. I don't know why, because all I've been watching is Goldwing reviews Lmfao, Awesome build. I want to build a sporty chop in the near future. I feel a good connection with this, especially since I do my own work on my bikes and always lose parts in the dirt/grass.
Currently doing a ground up build on my sportster I'm in Australia it's cost way more than I imagined probably would have been cheaper to Go on a holiday and build it there
@@SUPPORTYOURSELF yea I start watching because my dad gave me his old Suzuki intruder 1400 and im trying to make it more mine and Tahoe/ El Dorado county road are the best
Nice bike, I have a couple of questions, I hope you can help me, in addition to the long bars did you put anything else? Like dampers or something extra? I'm about to set the bars +6 but I want the look you achieved, it's great, but my bike is not hard tail, is only with the 10.5 rear shocks lol
Thank you! When you install the extended tubes, you will need to make plastic spacers for the springs. It can be done really easily with PVC pipe. Everything else stays the same!
My chopper was 10" over, with 34 inch wide touring bars, easy to handle, with fork braces on the tubes, narrow Z bars look good while standing, rubbish to ride with IMHO.
Ride quality seems about the same honestly. Moving around in a parking lot has it's challenges but besides that it's all good! I'll be getting a vendor booth at the next sac swap, stop by and say hey!!

Great result, the classic "Billy Bike" geometry! Would love to have such tubes in 35mm for my Honda.

just found your channel..I do my test rides on those same roads.
Heck yea! Let's link up and ride!
I ended up with about 15oz oil each with 31” tubes. Kept the air gap about stock.
did you need an extended kickstand after you put these on?
You do not, however it LEANS like crazy. I ended up extending the kickstand 1.5" to reduce the lean
@@SUPPORTYOURSELFi can handle a little lean haha, thank you for your response!
Awsome video brother, love the narration and honesty. Not everyone is lowbrow or tc bros.
Thank you! I try to keep it down to earth
did the fork change alter the steering performance much?
You notice the change really when moving the bike around or moving at very slow speeds. Riding around it feels great.
Stance check convinced me to do it on my project. Looks rad man, what tubes did you use? Im thinking of using Tc Bro's.
Thanks! Forks by frank
Love the handlebars, whats the brand ?
Thanks! Biltwell brand bars
where is this? scenary looks beautiful.

Lol I know the feeling. Some of my friends have much longer bikes with taller bars and those things are hard to move around in the parking lots haha
