Man, 42 movies in just over 25 years, it took Disney over 60 years to get to that number.
This means dreamworks produces random movies
That does not mean anything mate
Fun facts:
- 14 films were distributed by Paramount Pictures (Over the Hedge to Rise of the Guardians)
- 10 films were distributed by 20th Century Studios (The Croods to Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie)
- 6 films are currently under the Universal Pictures banner, starting with The Boss Baby (a homecoming. Dreamworks characters appear in Universal Studios Singapore)
- 9 franchises have theatrically released films
- 6 films have a Rotten Tomatoes rating above 90%
- 3 films have a Metacritic rating above 80
- 5 films are Shrek films
- 4 films are Madagascar films
- Kung Fu Panda and How to Train Your Dragon have 3 films each
- 4 (5 if you count Joseph: King of Dreams) films are traditionally animated films
- 3 are Aardman co-productions
That being said, you should do rankings for Illumination Entertainment films too.
I think personally, this could've perhaps benefitted with including some workprints of unreleased films as an incentive for the purchase, with "Me and My Shadow", "B.O.O.: Bureau of Otherworldly Operations", "Monkeys of Mumbai" and "Larrikins" bumping up the number to 46… Could probably even make for a good limited-time single 4-Movie Collection release, I think
I’d also have included some of the more noteworthy TV series, like She-Ra.

The dream would be if they established a separate studio dedicated to finishing these cancelled films, I'd call it, "DreamWorks Vault Studios". But alas, not meant to be.

It's so cool to see characters on this collection like Shrek, Alex, Oscar, Everest, Toothless, Moses, Jack Frost, Barry B. Benson, Wallace and Gromit, and so much more!
That's a nice looking box set. I can't wait until DreamWorks re-release their entire library on 4K Blu-ray. Well, maybe not all of them will get the 4K treatment. Knowing DreamWorks, they'll put their money on 4K remasters for their most successful films.

By the time I can get my hands on an all region player this set probably won’t be around anymore.
You get many 4K/DVD sets we can’t even purchase in Australia, That’s why 80% of the media I purchase is from the States or Europe

It's a great set! I'm so happy that Dreamworks even remembered their direct to video sequel to Prince of Egypt Joseph King of Dreams. Not to mention other underrated films like Megamind, Shark tale, Over the hedge and others! 🌙

This boxset looks incredible! Dreamworks is my absolute favourite animation company outside of Disney and Pixar! They were the first animated company to implement adult orientated humour and comedy into their movies and I absolutely adore them for it!!!
I actually like DreamWorks more than Disney and even Pixar.
@@bighand1530 hmmm I have to agree in some aspects. Disney is kind of getting really predictable nowadays. I also love Sony pictures animation, Laika, Aardman, as well as illumination despite their divisive nature…

I feel like Australia and the UK get the best DVDs and Blu-rays. Here in the US, we don't really have a lot of big collections like this. It's pretty annoying, but what can you do🤷♂️😅
I feel the opposite at times. Some of your Best Buy and Walmart exclusives are amazing and feel very left out. The hunger games steel book 4k Collection, for example.

Warner Brothers should do this with some of their older movies like The Quest for Camelot, Cat's Don't Dance, The Chipmunks Adventure 1987, An American Tail, All Dogs Go to Heaven, The Secret of NIMH, The Land Before Time, the Iron Gaint, and also Rover Dangerfield!
Joseph King of Dreams was included in Random Space Media's 2D collection, I have it. Spirit was released on Blu-ray in Australia before by Fox but Universal has never reissued it until this collection. Antz is the one that's on Blu-ray for the first time here.
It's a great collection I only wish they did it sooner. I already brought all their collections with the exception of the one from last year and have been buying the the ones they do release in 4K so I'm still without Antz.
Spirit has been out of print for a very, very long time. Hence why I singled it out here. I singled out Joseph as it is never considered as part of the DreamWorks “canon” and is a rare inclusion in the boxset.
@@DaveLeeDownUnder Oh I thought you said they were released on Blu-ray for the first time here that's why I pointed those out. And yeah, I was lucky enough to find Spirit on Blu-ray at JB last year. Surprised me quite a bit.

This boxset is kind of gonna feel pointless within the next year as the bad guys and puss in boots 2 are releasing in 2022! Two more animated classics added to their canon and I couldn’t be anymore excited!
Unfortunately this is the case with basically every franchise. There’ll never be a “complete” or “definitive” box set of anything as long as there’s new movies. However, this will still sell, and will be welcomed by a lot of fans who want a quick, easy, and affordable way to get all the current movies.

They already have. Although, it’s a boxset more like this DreamWorks one - not a large book.
Not sure why Kung Fu Panda seems to have the central and biggest image on the box. Shrek is still their flagship character. He is recognized all over the world. I like them both, but Shrek is their Mickey Mouse. It looks cool. I always felt DreamWorks should have their own streaming service.
Good news is that it has The Road To El Dorado and Over The Hedge

My favorite one to this day is still "Shrek". If I was forced to pick a recent one, I'd go with "Abominable".

1:37 technically dreamworks animation made 43 movies since although 42 is accurate for the films that were physically released. The 43rd movie was Trollhunters: Rise of the titans on Netflix but that movie was meant to act as a conclusion to a they're tv series tales of Arcadia.

do all these movies have the option to change the audio as a Hispanic i grew up watching most of these films in Spanish and it would be a shame if i got this and i couldn't change the language to Spanish
This is great because I'm a big fan of DreamWorks but sadly I'm British so us in the UK will get a similar set just without Chicken Run (since Pathé has European distribution rights to that film).

Uhh… the Dreamworks movies released between antz to wallace and Gromit were distributed by Dreamworks pictures, over the hedge to rise of the guardians were distributed by paramount, the croods to captain underpants were distributed by fox and the rest from httyd 3 were distributed by universal.ñ

Disney Animation has 60 films, Encanto being number 60 and Pixar has 27 films, Turning Red and Lightyear being number 26 and 27. But I guess if you mix them all together, both studios have made 85 films.

Personally I wasn’t the biggest fan of Joseph king of dreams. It always felt like a watered down version of prince of Egypt. The ending felt really predicted and corny too. I know it sounds weird but I think it’s pretty obvious why it went straight to dvd and not theatrical. Plus when he was younger Ben Affleck wasn’t always on my watch list but has definitely matured as an actor over the years! Batman anyone?

I gave up on dreamworks many years ago. I think they’re for little children. The “comedy” is always bad. They rely on popular too much.
DreamWorks Animation hasn’t relied on pop culture references like that for years now.
