As an Overwatch player, I truly wish for Marvel Rivals to succeed because healthy competition is a good thing.
This is like when Intel didn't do anything for years and AMD came out of nowhere with Ryzen
Ow is so bad that flats made a video of him and bogur just talking about the game and considering playing other games till overwatch gets it shit together

I want Marvels Rivals to succeed, if only to bring more competition against Blizzard. However I have no faith in Marvel Rivals being anything other than a casual, poorly balanced microtransaction hell. Marvel licensing + Netease previous monetization and poor quality games is all I needed to see.
third person also means that money is not as much wasted on skins as it is in overwatch
As an ex overwatch player who hasnt touched the game since OW2 drop, i am excited to have another game to play without all the blizzard baggage
Want this to be good so badly (and on cosole). Literally a dream game idea i had when i first played Overwatch. There's so much you can do with Marvel in terms of characters and mechanics, and from the looks of it, they're already tapping into that potential.
Valve has also had a leak of a new hero shooter by them. Not TF3 a whole new IP. SO the hero shooter market is being diverse with real backing. Overwatch needs real competition.
Marvel rivals felt like old overwatch.
One of the things that OW1 did that I think the OW2 devs don't understand is it appealed to non-shooter gamers. People like me and all of my friends who I played OW with were not the COD or CSGO gamers, we were the PVE gamers who found a shooter that did something for us. OW1 had great character design, amazing world building, and the promise of a deep story to come. OW2 was sold as them taking that story to the next level and finally letting us see what happened after OW returns. But that promise is gone now and we are left with just them pushing out barely developed characters and no furtherance to the story. If they can't sell us PVE players on the characters and the PVP players are begging for a return to 6v6 because 5v5 is a disaster they are burning their player base at both ends.
It’s a very good game with a lot of potential. It’s gonna be a replacement for OW for me
I just imagine the creators of Marvel Rivals, for the past couple years just observing the Overwatch community and everything people have complained about/asked for for years now (even stuff that wasn't in OW1 like a tournament mode) and they're just like "These Blizzard guys don't listen to their fans at all. We got you guys"
so much fun watching your streams on the game, those pop off moments with the black panther was crazy!
OW2 was exhausting for me to play. I’m not a crazy good player (high plat/low diamond) But the game just didn’t feel fun as a tank main. It felt draining, almost pointless. Not even the wins felt rewarding. It didn’t use to feel like that.. Hopefully this game taps into the fun aspect and keeps the game fun to play again and again. The monetization route they go will say a lot for me about the longevity of the game.
There won't be 30 characters at launch. That leaked list was a list for launch and planned characters before for the next ~2 years.
Biggest gaming hope of 2024. Absolutely amazing looking in every regard.
I love everything about this video. You make great points while not minimizing the impact Overwatch has had. I am personally really excited for Rivals and I hope it does incredibly well. This has massive potential. I can’t wait to play it on console!
Agreed with everything you said, waiting for Marvel rivals makes me feel like a child waiting to open the presents on Christmas day. I really hope it's good
