Study up on night fishing and give it a try. Easily double the size of your biggest brown trout. I once landed a 30" 12 lb. brown trout fishing at night. I won the Sports Afield magazine annual fishing contest in 1980 in Colorado.

Set the hook in the downstream direction whenever you can. So in this case don’t set the hook over your right shoulder.

@@anglerspursuit I only say that because whenever I fly fish and throw a fly to fish downriver to me I swear I pull the fly straight out his mouth half the time. Whenever it’s upstream of me I lose way way fewer fish.
If your pulling the bait up stream try to point your rod at whatever you’re reeling in and set the hook upwards if you can’t set it downstream

I like to paint and customize my panther martens pink chartreuse with a little bit of yellow and red for some odd reason the brown trout can’t resist those colors, especially gold in chocolate, muddy water, you will slay brown trout

My favorite lures hands down are mepps spinners panther Martin too you can catch every species on these Yamamoto a close second with the double tailsand skirts.

I like to buy 1/8th ounce panther martins, paint them silver and add a strip of white reflective tape to the spoon, and oh yeah downgrade a size on the treble hook.... Works wonders for browns, brooks and rainbows!!!!

How you caught that fish is beyond me.... You couldn't have done anything more wrong!!!! Your rod tip was down, your reeled through drag being taken and you had your rod tip in the water while netting the fish!!!! Lol. But hey, it works for you I guess!!!! Keep fishing bro!!!

Im pretty damn sure I'll never beat my pb brown trout. 14lbs on a worm completely by accident. I was fishing by an old beaver damn and thought i was snagged almost cut my line then my grandpa told me give it a good yank so i did and this monster jumped out of the water. Ive been trying to beat it ever since but havent came close just a bunch of 3-5 pounders and smaller ones
That’s a great story and I don’t know if I’d ever want to beat it because memories like that are what fishing is all about! But I’d sure want to tie it A LOT! Most of the places I fish have restrictions on live bait. Thanks for watching and sharing!
