i love how the lady doing the treatment was not judgmental about anything and was so patient and happy to answer any questions. what a lovely woman
Totally agree! I’m an Licensed Massage Therapist, and I advocate never treating your clients with any judgment. We all have “issues”, lol.
True
That’s her job
That's what a professional should be! If any nail/skin/hair care "expert" shames you about your body, LEAVE. They should try to gently educate you on better hygiene etc, sure. But they shouldn't make fun of you.
What did she have to be judgmental about?
Also, it is her job to not be judgmental, patient and happy to ask questions. You act as though it’s the most unusual thing on earth to see proper customer service
The lady seemed shocked that Jazz only washed her hair once a week but when youre biracial and have thick curly hair that's about all you have the time/energy for 😩
its a whole day process people dont understand 😭
Or that’s the amount your scalp can handle. Curly hair needs oil, you can’t wash it everyday like other textures .
Right? It takes a few days for our natural oils to get from root to tip too, well depending on the length of course
even my fragile fine curly hair can only handle being washed once a week, sometimes even once every other week. Curls need oil
@@FelicityBelle Hair should be washed at least once a week and even more when sweating. The sebum produced from the scalp does not moisturize the hair. Leaving sebum, dead skin, sweat, product build up and dirt on the scalp causes itching, flaking, odor and in extreme cases hair thinning and loss. Please watch the UA-cam channel Jennifer-Rose NYC ❤
Unrelated to the video but these two are literally the remaining OG Buzzfeed creators who are still attached to Buzzfeed. I really miss the good old days when Buzzfeed was in its prime. There were so many interesting personalities to watch back then. :/
Don't forget Freddie
Buzzfeed apparently didn't like ppl becoming personalities and ditching them
I miss Sara, Quinta, Ashly, Chantel Andrew/Ashly’s romance which was bs but I didn’t care I was 17!
I miss og ladylike
I do too, but im not suprised that they left as how buzzfeed treated them
This literally looks so relaxing. I would do this for sure.

I would probably fall asleep because it looks so relaxing. 🤣
@@sarahprince2412 ikr 😂
I completely agree. I would love to do this. Looks so relaxing and wonderful.
If I didn’t have sever social anxiety I would love to do it.. but tbh the anxiety part of my brain is in panic even thinking about doing this 🥺😳
When you have course hair...mostly Afro textured (type 4) you can not wash your hair multiple times a week. Once a week makes sense and is pretty standard especially if you have an Afro
the thing is jazz doesn't even have type 4 hair like in any way shape or form
And that’s not what she has.
I have 3B/3C hair and I wash it once a week because that's all I have time for. I've just stretched it out to two weeks and it's itching and flaking like mad and it's driving me crazy. Can't wait to wash it tomorrow.
I have LONG, HEALTHY 4c hair & I wash my hair 2-3 times a week…
Not true, I have 4c hair and have recently started washing my hair 2 times a week. and my hair has honestly never felt better. ive stopped using oils and butters too, only now using mouse or gel. And my hair is feeling stronger. There has been mixed information in the natural hair community. But following the 3 step method and regular trims, i feel like now my hair would be able to hair length retention.
Jazz should see a dermatologist for a follow up. Red inflamed areas of scalp/skin can be signs of skin infections that require medicines and/or skin issues like psoriasis. Salon scalp treatments are great, but sometimes there is an underlying issue that needs to be addressed. Personally, I have psoriasis and have 4 patches of it on my scalp. My hairdresser gives me scalp treatments, but it's only a temporary help, not a long term solution. Regardless, happy to see Jazz get pampered and feel special 😊
Do you think the scalp treatment help with your Psoriasis? Like keeping it managed? I'd love to do a scalp treatment but I've always been afraid it would make my situation worse!
Kaylynn Wilson may i recomend that you should ask your tricologist first (the area of dermatology that specializes on hair). Since those are the most qualified people to answer your question lol.
@@kaylynnwilson5879 for me and my particular skin texture with also having a genetic collagen disorder, yes it helps. but everyone is different. talk to your doctor about it first.
but she wont do it. Because she's hiding behind that fake body positivity. Like, yass girl embrace your clearly unhealthy scalp yasss
A lot of the times, dandruff is caused by fungus on the scalp, which gets inflamed when we eat too much sugar.
I'd be interested to see a camera before and after during a normal home hair washing session. Not sure the results would be much different. Also, I'd be interested to see this session with someone who is more informed about Black people's hair due to her mixed heritage. As others have mentioned, her surprise at the frequency of Jazmine's hair washing indicates that she isn't familiar at all.
Yassssss
Exactly. She also isn't taking into account the products involved in textured hair.
Exactly!!
I said they same it seems she's doesn't have much knowledge about black hair. I would love to see someone with a kinkyer texture get a consultation
That’s who was doing the video though, I think she did great, and it’s about the scalp and skin not the entire hair
As an itchy scalp sufferer, this looks like pure, absolute bliss and I"m very jealous 😂

Suggestion - Have a dermatologist check to see if you have yeast on your scalp.
@@CrixusHeart …yeast??? oh hecckkkkk nahhh
@@livtherese It's very common. It's not the same as vaginal yeast. 😆
Jazz being so honest about her dry scalp has me crying! I’ve always had this issue and never felt like other people had it!
I definitely need some tips on scalp care. Bet my scalp looks just like that Before picture. My head is itchy and flaky like thirty minutes after I wash and condition, regardless of whether I use hair products or not.
how often do u wash it? also look up the nuetrogena dandruff shampoo it’s a little bottle with a brownish/orange liquid and you mix a little bit with ur regular shampoo
Here’s a tip. First of all, shampoo is for your scalp and conditioner is for your hair.
Shampoo: rub it between your hands and put it and wash your scalp with it.
Conditioner: what you should do, is also rub it in your hands and wash your hair with it. If you wash your hair with shampoo, it dries it and the ends.
*DON’T FORGET TO LEAVE BOTH IN YOUR HAIR OF A COUPLE OF MINUTES*
I use a comb across my scalp pre shower to physically loosen flakes and dirt, then use a cleansing scrub shampoo (has salt to scrub the scalp). I then use a calming normal shampoo. Helps heaps with my dry scalp, but obviously everyone is different
@@AviDragonLady no you need to wash your hair
@@AviDragonLady Felt 😭 I recently learned that I’ve been doing it wrong and those tips have helped me so much! 🤣
this is normal in Japan and you can get this kind of treatment in any hair salon! and also i think arisa seemed surprised when she said she only washes her hair once a week because most Japanese people wash their hair everyday
Japanese genetics means naturally curly hair, like Jaz has, is nearly unheard of. And people with genetically straight hair often find that scalp oils build up on hair quickly, causing the hair to go greasy. So cleansing those oils from straight hair scalps helps keep the hair looking its best. Curly hair people actually rely on that scalp oil (called sebaceous oils) to protect their hair. Because of curly hair's structure - which is thick and thin texture on the same hair strand - can get dried out and become frizzy without the protective layer of oil. That's why many Curly people use the co-wash method of cleaning their hair, with occasional cleansing washes for scalp health.
@@dawnchesbro4189 I'm sorry I don't get your first sentence? Did you mean Japanese people have never heard/seen curly hair like Jaz? But thanks for the info on how people take care of their curly hair.
@@ayame7424 sorry I worded that sentence strangely. What I mean is that curly hair, like Jaz’s isn’t common in Japan. Even my 3C hair isn’t common. Naturally curly hair isn’t common in Japanese genetics, so it makes sense that Japanese hair stylists don’t have as much experience with it.
@@dawnchesbro4189 thanks got it! i’ve also never heard of “curl types?” like 3c probably because most people have similar types anyways here
@@ayame7424 Jaz is of colour though so her hair type doesn’t need to be washed multiple times a week. In fact that makes it worse for her. Also you shouldn’t wash your hair everyday that’s bad for your hair…
For all the natural girlies and guys co wash and scalp treatments! no you don’t have to wash your hair more than once a week but you should be treating your scalp and rinsing out gels and styling creams. Adjust your routines accordingly.
Dandruff is actually a symptom of an oily scalp! It just looks very similar to dry flakes but has a completely different cause and solution.
i can’t tell if my scalp is oily or not, my hair doesn’t seem oily but i get a lot of flakes for some reason and i don’t even put products on my scalp im so confused lol i have curly hair as wel
I feel this. I don’t use products in my hair other than shampoo and conditioner and I still got flakes. If it’s oily ish flakes as opposed to dry flakes it could be Seborrhoeic dermatitis
oily or dry scalp. i have dandruff bc of a dry scalp
I'm Japanese and this is like a standard head spa in Japan.
Having your scalp massaged is a heavenly experience here, would definitely recommend
A lot of that could b bcuz if hard water
Please use squeaky sound effects with caution… my dog thinks I’m hiding a toy from him 😂
😂😂😂
my dog also freaked haha
Aww 😂😂
Everyone's hair is different but since I started shampooing my scalp and conditioning the last 2/3 of my hair only once a week, my hair has never looked better. At first I was pretty oily towards the end of the week, but after a while it subsided. Doing a scalp treatment of apple cider vinegar once a month was a big game changer too! Clears out aaaaaall that buildup and it feels so good :D
Do you dilute the apple cider vinegar with water and spray it all over your scalp? I’ve never heard for this treatment and am wondering if I should try it out for myself.
@@michi._.2654 yea you dilute the apc with water depending on how strong you want it to be. if you do try it DO NOT let it get in your eyes. i've learned it the hard way 😃
The realest fan base I’ve ever witnessed. proud to be a part of this community even the dark times.
i love how after that woman sees all those scalps and still manages to be so kind and still touch all the scalps without hesitation!
"It's 7 am."
That pretty much summarized EVERYTHING right there.
The treatment looked so relaxing but this is definitely something I could probably afford to do sparingly. I use more clarifying shampoo once a week with one of those shampoo/scalp massager brushes and I feel like it does the trick of getting build up out. I've been using the Carol's Daughter Wash Day Delight.
I am mixed and only have 2b/2c hair but getting a scalp massager brush has changed my damn life, it's really helped with thinning hair on the crown due to pineappling my hair in the same spot all the time. I also like to use an AHA/BHA serum on my scalp the night before washing.
I love the idea of a salon offering scalp only services! I would totally do this! I have curly hair so I use products a lot. I cleanse my hair myself but I'm sure something like this would be great!
natural girls shouldn't wash their hair loads, it dries our hair out, unfortunately.
We have to be careful saying that tho. While it’s true, the amount differs per hair type. Jaz has less course hair. I wash my hair like every 2 weeks but that obvi wouldnt work for her
Yeah as a natural hair girl, when she said that she should wash her hair more than once a week I was like “so like,, twice a week then??” bc no way I can do more than that my dear 😂
I wash every 5 days. It depends on your hair and scalp needs. Being natural doesn't mean don't wash often. They are not mutually exclusive. This is what her issue was. Fine hair needs to be washed more often because of increased build up and the strands tangle easier.
@@izzywoods794 I wash my hair once or twice a month but I have locs and it’s incredibly difficult to dry my hair especially because I don’t always have access to a blow dryer
Everyone has different hair needs and goals. Jaz may have to wash her hair twice a week and/or get a really good clarifying shampoo. It also depends on the styling products she uses. I’ve noticed with my hair certain products require me to have to deeply clean my hair while others a normal shampoo and conditioner does the trick.
I forgotten about this tip in a Korean variety beauty show, that says washing your scalp with carbonated water help to remove all that built up. So you can do your own carbonated water rinse at home with seltzer water. It does not have to be full on seltzer, you can mixed it a bit with plain water and clean your scalp
Awesome
Like a Schweppes, La Croix, or Pellegrino? That kind of carbonated water?
@@Erik_Emer like club soda, unflavoured.
If I had the money 1000 percent I would get this treatment every 6 to 8 weeks! Looks so worth it not just for the scalp health but also the relaxation and self care!
Same I would love this
When I was in cosmetology school the month of our scalp treatment was my favorite! We were using each other as practice and to get our required quota in. My hair grew and extra 1/2 inch that month.
Finding a school to get scalp treatments is less $ and helps the students learn.
In the summer months I wash my hair in conditioner mostly using shampoo about twice a month.
FYI when painting I will put conditioner in my hair fairly heavy after towel drying, then braid or ponytail. Paint doesn’t stick to hair and sits on conditioner instead so it rinses off.
I do have dry hair, skin, and products seem to not only make my scalp itch, but build up is fast.
Even if this did nothing for your scalp, it looks so nice. I see why she was saying people fall asleep… I would !!
I've been here before and Arisa did this treatment for me! It was definitely really relaxing and she made things super comfortable for me. Would 100% recommend for anyone who struggles with build up or dry scalp.
Thank you for being so open about this sort of thing!
A lot of that looked like conditioner and product buildup in the water initially.
I’ve got 2c/3a hair and i wash my hair once a week. My scalp used to get lots of buildup by day 3 or 4, and it would itch too. I started using a shampoo brush to gently massage my scalp and remove the buildup, followed by applying oil (almond oil) on my scalp for a massage, leaving it in for at least an hour. After that I shampoo and condition as usual, and my scalp has shown a LOT of improvement in the past 2 months of doing this. There’s a lot less buildup and itchiness, and I’m able to stretch my wash days further apart (7-10 days now!). I hope this helps someone!!
I have naturally straight hair but I want to try will it still work
Love you guys!!!! You are both such bright lights in this world! ♥️♥️♥️
Jazz should have her own comedy hour; her commentary had me cracking up the entire video 😂
Thank you Jaz, I have been dealing with dandruff on my scalp for as long as I can remember. I have always been self conscious about it. You are an inspiration!
if dandruff shampoo ain't working it could be a different issue. maybe go to a specialist and see if you are going about it the wrong way.
Wow! This sounds awesome! Would love to try this 🙌🏼

This looks so amazing.
I love this . I’m curious how the products used would affect type 4 hair.
I would love this! Thank you Jazz for doing this video. I've suffered the same with a flakey, itchy scalp from a teenager and through to adult years.
Loving Jazz and her positive attitude!
That looks like it felt incredible!!!
Even if you don’t notice any scalp issues I highly recommend getting your scalp deep cleaned!! It’s so relaxing and a form of self care we should all practice
I absolutely love this channel, they help people grow up and how to figure out the body of a woman, when I had just started my period, I came here. They make interesting videos, and videos that are VERY helpful. Especially when my parents don’t talk about growing as a woman, They helped me a lot when growing up and I really appreciate that.
I love how sweet the ladies doing all of these beauty treatments are in these videos
First, I love seeing Jazmine and Lindsey together. So wonderful to see a video of you both. Next, thanks for doing this type of video. I have had scalp build up issues since I was in elementary school. I would use various dandruff shampoos and that would not alleviate the build up. Since the pandemic, my scalp has gotten a lot more build up, even after shampooing every day. I even stopped using hair products. It has cost a large amount of hair loss on the top of my scalp. I have a medicated shampoo, but it is not able to do much. Perhaps a deep clean might help, so thank you for doing this video.
You've probably already seen some comments about it here, but you should look into organic apple cider vinegar rinses. You can mix them at home and add some herbs/flowers like rosemary, lavender or camomile to reduce inflammation and nourish your scalp and hair. I personally have 3a type hair but I've also made some for friends with various hair types and they've all loved them.
You should try a clarifying shampoo. It will get rid of all the excess buildup and cleanse your scalp and hair. Just remember to follow up with a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner
@@Elisabear I have used clarifying shampoo before and my problem with those is exactly that: Everything is squeaky clean afterwards but my hair is dried out even though I use a sulfate free shampoo. And then I really need to deep condition which just means that there's new buildup. That's why I've been making my own apple cider rinse: it's completely natural and cleanses by restoring the natural pH balance without drying your hair out. At least that's what I've found.
Oh, and by the way, @Melissa: I'm sure that since you've been using some medicated shampoo, you've been to see a specialist and your issues are due to something medical, but just in case you haven't and thy aren't: No matter what type of hair you have, please do not wash it daily. And please use silicone and sulfate free shampoo or shampoo with a gentle sulfate (like coco sulfate).
@@RoibenRocks I understand. Most clarifying are too harsh. I use Melanin Haircares African Black Soap which cleanses my hair by doesn’t strip it. I have used AVC as well and it works great. Glad you found something that works
This reminds me of years ago when Oprah shared a story that a newscaster her job came with a hairstylist. The stylist had no idea what to do with her hair. When she asked the lady had she ever did black hair, the stylist said - yes, I do black hair, red hair, brown hair, and I can do your hair.
Against her better judgment, she allowed the lady to do her hair. The lady was stumped when hair reverted during shampooing. Needless to say, it was a horrible experience by someone who had no knowledge or experience with black hair.
Thank you for this video, I’ve always experienced something with my scalp so this will definitely helpful even without getting it cleaned myself!
6:04 she was falling asleep lol 😂😂 she couldn't even talk that good so cute and satisfying
I’d like to hear how Jazz’s hair is after this new every day washing regimen. Scalp may be clean but how is the breakage?

Jazz you look absolutely stunning in this video! Your hair your skin everything 😍
My dandruff covered, oily haired head needs this! The only problem I’m concerned with, is whether or not the length of my hair would affect how clean it can get.
I had build up from back in the day using my beloved studio mega spritz when the big permed hair was a lifestyle! Lol! I found out using a suave clarifying shampoo twice a week got totally rid of it! Both great products on a budget!
I can't wait to try this. So excited!
I’d so love a follow up and like a series to see how well it works on hair, but also bipoc hair
WISH I HAD FRIENDSHIP LIKE YOURS
SO COMFORTING .
*I wonder if Jazz ever went to a dermatologist. Tons of patients enter with the same problem and can be properly diagnosed and given special shampoos and solutions to address and sometimes eliminate the problem. If it's a deeper problem sometimes medications can be administered to combat the problem from the inside, in conjunction with the topical products! A lot of spas charge tons for these types of treatments just for the problem to return shortly after. At least with the medications it can be more affordable, depending on insurance provider, and beneficial in the long run!* 😊
Such an encouraging video! I want a scalp cleansing as soon as possible.

Love the duo of you too
People used to say dandruff meant dirty hair but I would wash my hair everyday with dandruff treatments and normal shampoo and nothing would work until I just stopped caring and started using cheap shampoo 2-3 times a week and now I barely get it 🤌🏻
Makes sense!
Not everyone's hair is meant to be washed every day to maintain and promote scalp and hair health
Makes sense if you're Scalp is flaky from being too dry. The acids in anti dandruff shampoos are meant for people with actual dandruff from having a very oily Scalp, but for dry flakes it will make everything even worse.
Stranger: “Oh your scalp is so clean.”
Me: “Thanks, I wash with La Croix.”
Oh hi, same profile pic 😅
I have the same thing, I'm pretty sure, and I've been told by a dermatologist that it's psoriasis and there's not much I can do about it since it must be genetic, my grandma has seriously bad psoriasis all over her arms and legs. Mine doesn't look like hers, it definitely looks more like what Jaz has. I wish I could get a treatment like this, it looks really good.

Idk why the lady was surprised she only washed her hair only once a week. For curly hair, I thought you wouldn’t want to do it too often because it’s bad for the hair.
your right. her hair is probably so dry because she washes too much
I was shocked. When she said 5 days I was like WHAT (my hair is wavy-curly, my children's hairs are very curly) like of course your hair is going to be filthy if you haven't washed in a week. And then she asked is that too much? I was like NOOOO! lol So gross. I could never go without washing my hair every other day. At least. In part because it is humid where I live. Plus I'm too self-aware about not being clean. Regardless of what type of hair I had... I just can't. Especially if you wear products, are out and about, are exposed to pollution, get sweaty, etc.
@@rivap.4791 she has natural hair. I don’t think you understand how to care for natural hair. (I’m not Black so I can’t explain it to you either)
@@starlight8554 Yeah, I know. It doesn't make it any less gross to me, the idea of not washing your hair for a week. It's going to be dirty. The choice is between having dirty hair/scalp or have dry, brittle hair from washing too much. There are products one can use to maintain hair health even if you wash regularly. In hot and humid places it's really really disgusting not to be able to wash your hair regularly - your head will literally stink.
A lot of curly heads wash often than that
Jazz should go to the dermatologist for the redness. I laughed at Arisa's reaction to the once a week washing. I'm white with 2A hair and only wash my hair once or twice a week too
