Sorry guys for light glare I did look at it before shooting but it turned out worse than I thought , oh well hope you still enjoyed the conversation tonight
I thought you were just playing with the lens to set a cinematographic mood; never underestimate your creativity.
It doesn’t matter Rick…
As long as we can hear you and Chuck give great advice!
It was like a halo 👍
So angelic!!! Sent by the Archangels to help us understand Corvette!
But seriously Rick, I for one am very glad for all you do!
Don't worry Rick, It's the brightest you have ever been! Thanks for all of your hard work and videos!!
I like the catch can explanation by Korey. I don’t track but sounds like there would still be a benefit.
Happy to help Brad & I'll be sure to get one on your car next time you swing in for more Red Carbon Fiber : )
Hopefully soon, weather permitting. Will be there for the blade turn indicator install (when they come in) and a "few" other things. 😁
Welcome 2023 and Tech Tuesday with Chuck and that Rick guy.
I love tech Tuesday, but to throw a different opinion on things how about getting Steve from LMR do a phone in session with you guys. It could get interesting as we would have a top GM mechanic and a top Corvette hi performance tuner/mechanic. They may see things differently? Great content keep it up.
Hey Rick, I had both my headlights replaced because of what looked to be moisture in the lenses. It actually is a know issue with GM. It is an anti fogging spray the manufacturer sprays on them but some of them did not dry and ran. A new process was developed to dry them so this doesn’t happen. He can take it to any dealership and most likely GM will replace them under warranty.
Tech Tuesday is back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks Rick… we can never get enough of you & Chuck 🤣 Thanks for starting out 2023 with your buddy 😃
It may sound odd, but the Ron Fellows track is probably one of the safest places you will ever drive a Vette.
no, you are right, they do an amazing job keeping us safe and educated - incredible experiences there
I LOVE WATCHIMG YOU GUYS AND CREW! SO MUCH BETTER THAN TV! THANK YOU FOR CORVETTE INFO~😀
I don't know how you do it Rick once again another very important and informative tech Tuesday
Wow thanks for that Matt really appreciate that , as I said in the closing slide - this Corvette is a way of life for me
They're back. Thanks Rick & Chuck.
Once again a great video by you and Chuck.
GM can eliminate the need for an oil catch can by simply designing a ninth injector that sprays fuel into the intake system at designated intervals . This would keep the backside of the intake valves from developing carbon buildup.
Great Tech Tuesday, as always! Happy New Year!
Great information Chuck & Rick - Nice Job guys!
Great to see both of you in action again. Thanks for the great info and updates 👍 😀
Thanks, Rick, for the little jab you gave me for the DCT filler plug question. LOL But, seriously, thanks for the extended responses to my two questions. You and Chuck are the greatest! Looking forward to catching up with you on the details of our build. "Can't wait!" ... Marsha 'n' Ralph in the Middle of Nowhere, Nevada.
look at the Dodson fill line. I have done the additional fluid and a change at 9.5k without taking rear trunk tub out. Only panel comes down for drain and fill. A must have
Just a suggestion, sit at a different angle next time. The lights on the wall behind you guys washed out the screen. But the info was great!!
Noted! I thought that too...damn it....LOL
Just had my c6 G.S. 2013 with the red light bandit installed. Its like a new car. Plug and play. Best mod I ever put on my car. Be careful when first using. Will bring the butterflies and a big o!d smile on your face. Got mine from C&S corvette. Ask for Lyle. Paid 100.00$. They sold out quick. Give them a call. You're welcome in advance.
Michael's white Z06 looks really good @ 21:38. Especially the matte finished Spyder wheels
😎🤔
Awesome show👍👍
Thanks Rick, Thanks Chuck... you guys answered some question I didn't realize I needed to know. Ha!
Great Footage! Love the TREE'S! We don't have that where I live! 2
Enjoyed the segment. I installed a catch can on my C6 and would capture about and inch between oil changes. Also a pedal controller from Soler engineering. Made a big difference in trottle response. Planning on doing both to my C7.
Just love Tech Tuesday! Great content and enjoy you and Chucks comradery! Keep up the great work!
Rick Happy New Year to you both. You sound better, but because of the glare, (which I know you already mentioned,) I couldn't tell if you were looking better LOL. You could have done the video in the dark and it would have been just as enjoyable. Thank you both, for taking the time to inform and entertain us.
hi rick and chuck thanks for the tech tue. bin looking forward to it seeing you guys between the c8s was a nice touch however next time turn off the bench lights take out bulbs whatever
Another fantastic informative tech Tuesday Rick & Chuck and it is still hard to believe over two years and most dealerships are still dealing with inventory issues. 15 or 20 vehicles in transit and 17 of them are already sold before the reach the dealership it's just crazy.
Happy new years guys love your show just got my c7 out of the shop p0700 and p0711 code .replace transmission harness filter and fluid.
Glad to see you both… Happy New Year! Hope your feeling better Rick!
Great video as always, Rick! Happy New Year to the both of you and your families!
I have a 2020 and I have had the catch can on the car from the first couple months and I have done oil change 3 times. Every time I open the catch 1/8 of the catch can is full. So I look at it like this, if the catch can didn’t catch that it would be baking on the intake manifold.
I understand dry sump lubrication has catch can built in.
Great tech Tuesday guys! Still working with a local dealer on our C8. Reverse/front cameras still not working intermittently. GM had the dealer pull two pins from the body control module and replace them to try and fix it but that didn’t work (they did a software update as well). Now the convertible top doesn’t work which I think is related to the pins being messed with. Luckily it is stuck in the up position. Hoping to get this sorted out soon so we can start enjoying the car more.
The Paragon Performance catch can works… period.
I installed mine, directions are easy, bolts right up and I was amazed how much oil was in the thing… about a 1/4 inch after just 1500 miles. I know that oil is in my trash and not on the back of the intake valve. Sorry environmentalists, it’s in the landfill now as will be future catches… unless I want to kill some weeds here.
Rick I get what you are saying about the inventory and cars showing up on the website that are not available. Simple fix upload picture of the car with a sold stamp on it. Have seen many dealers do that and it helps consumers understand what’s going on.
Hey Rick great video as always! Nice to see you and Chuck! Very informative as usual. Thanks for all you do. Take care! 🙏👊
For any C8 buyer shipping into CA, who has to get SMOG cert, you HAVE TO drive and get over 1000miles to trip O2 sensors, and drive at all the various speeds etc. GM put out a tech bulletin in 2021
We had extreme cold temps recently and my left side headlight did fog up on the bottom when I took it for a drive but it disappeared after an hour or so and has not happened since. It definitely had to be condensation.
Good info as always Good to see you both back again. I'm a big fan of catch cans. Especially in a gasoline direct injection engine of performance application. I do keep a few extra o-rings around for the can to replace it as needed. You are in-line with the PCV system and any vacuum leak can effect it.
Just a heads up, the glare from the lights behind you guys made it hard to see your faces clearly.
Yeah I know should have done something I said something to Chuck but it turned out worse than what it looked like on camera - oh well
How does a dealership in California have 4 new C8 Z06s all dealer ordered? They are not yet offered for sale but they are thinking of $50k to a $100k mark up?
Connel Chevrolet - Costa Mesa - Prior ownership was outstanding - new folks including GM is setting this crazy buying.........Just received a call from the dealership asking if interested in entering into the bid buying for this weekend. These guys are nuts.................and GM should not be letting these folks have four Z06 allocations. IT"S all about gouging customers. FYI - These are not fully loaded Z06 cars -NO Z07 packages.
Rick , I’m interested in changing the alignment on my C8. I’m planning on putting my car on a track (for fun not competition) a few times a year. Once a month during the summer. I understand the 2023 C8 comes with a street alignment . Is this correct? My thought is to putting the alignment setting halfway between street and track. Your thoughts. Thank you. Tony S.
I put a catch can on my car at about 350 miles and at 1500 miles I had at least an ounce or so of oil/whatever in it.
The GT 500 has some system which avoids problem; Ford racing has catch cans. I put one in a Bullit I owned. Rick on your new C8 I’d put one in. Keep that nasty oil out!
As to catch cans, keep in mind that any oil captured by the can would otherwise be recirculated back into the engine, potentially gumming up the intake, throttle body, etc., and possibly worse, causing deposits on the valve stems in direct injected engines. I agree that they are up to the individual, but I personally don't want my fresh air charge contaminated by burnt oil vapors, simply because the EPA says so.
So does GM VOID Warranty if you install a Oil Catch Can? My understanding is that YES Warranty Void.
Maybe... Since the oil catch can is such an easy Install ... If you have any warranty issue ... Just Uninstall it before you take it to the dealer ... How would they know??
Hi Rick and Chuck… I installed an oil catch can on my C8 Corvette… It’s been great for months… Recently, when I stopped at a traffic light, the car would stall and I have to restart… Could this be an issue because of the oil catch can or something else.
Ray Hamm (Rancho Cucamonga, CA)
This is serious. A engine recirculating any oil back through the intake could very well reduce engine life by half or more with major carbon deposits from the start of the cars service. You might have gotten away with burning oil in the past when tolerances were not as tight, but now?
I do not track my cars, I check it every 6 months and there is always oil in the can.
Hi Rick, almost at the point of having my C8 delivered to me. Unfortunately, there appears to be an issue with the instrument panel so the dealer is ordering a new one and installing it before i get delivery. Had the opportunity to look at it before I take possession of it and I noticed a blemish on one of the doors as i did a walk through. It looks like something that was caused by the mold at the factory. Question is can I request the dealer replace the door before I take delivery? I can't see myself happy with this blemish knowing how much I'm paying. Thank you!
I have an issue with my new to me 2009 c6 automatic?. After sitting a few hours if you start it and put it in drive it is a VERY had slam into drive. If you let the car warmup 15 to 20 minutes it does not do that. If you driving around shopping or whatever it will never do it again. Has to sit 3 to 6 hours before it does it again. No check engine lights. Shifts fine other than first start up. Any thoughts?
I don’t track my C7 Z06 and every oil change I have oil in my catch can. So for this I keep it on. Plus the Corvette mechanic here at my local dealership recommended a catch can?
I will never own one of these cars OUT of warranty.
Computer crap is getting ridiculous. Sounds like a lot of issues.
What is Chuck frequently putting in his mouth?
Zora Zora Zora. That's the 1 I want.I will wait patiently.
Keep reminding Chuck he owes me 😂 a lot of Michael’s on the rides segment but the best one wasn’t featured 🤷🤦🧐🥹😄
You mentioned a DCT service every 7500? I had my first service done at 7500 but I now have 17,000 other car and my dealership hasn't recommended any service. Didn't think it would need a service that early. Can you clear that up was that what I heard?
Coughlin Chevrolet has sold 533 Z06's.Rick does'nt tell you this. And I am sure that they are way over MSRP.Where is the list?
Rick has a list for the Zo6.He is playing favorites and selling to only certain people.I want a Z06 and was never put on any list.I will wait 6 or 7 years when the prive of a Z06 is worth nothing,Never ever over list price.I do'nt want iot that bad.I want a Ford GT with 1200 horse power.
INCORRECT...I am not playing favorites..my name not on the building and handling things as per upper management, believe what you want, but many have no idea what I try to do for folks
