Not bad for cars the still operating like the old horse & wagon days of the leaf springs, 😂 not a big fan of the left springs, but the convention kit from superior engenering is a great solution, and make them awesome tropies even more superb

There is a book titled, 'River of Gold', first published in 1967 that relates graphically how hard that track was for the old horses and coaches. And how hard it was getting the boilers and stampers in. I read it at a relatively young age and was enthralled. I have a copy in my small, 'don't throw away' book collection.

I lived up that way some years ago (1982) and the old track from Laura to Maytown was on my list of tracks to walk. I walked the Bloomfield track before it was the focus of the protests. It was a track cut along the original indigenous trail between Wujal Wujal and Cape Trib. An old bulldozer cut a trail through in the 60s with the intention of running cattle down from China Camp and further North down to the Daintree to ship them to the abattoirs. At the south end, the track started at the north end of the Cape Trib beach, just before the rocks, and went straight up the side of the hill/mountain. I also walked the CREB track, and once walked from Lakeland to Palmer River, back when the old dirt road/goat track wound its way up the range. It was right at the beginning of the works for the new road, in the dry season. It was the dustiest 8 hour walk I'd ever done.
