thank you so much for highlighting this great piece of history, btw I was there, I was at this show, and many more like it. American audiences would have loved them, but the relationship with what could have been their US record company was not helped by the band's, lets' say "staunch" behaviour....
Brilliant! Got these songs on my playlist. In fact, every Cold Chisel song ever released. Yes they were blue collar, although the band moved states when their oldest member, Don Walker went to university. The band stuck it out playing music whilst Don attended university (he was several years older than other band members) but he came away from that time with some great songs and the band took off. Amazingly, every band member has contributed songs to the catalogue. Home and Broken Hearted and Conversations are such great songs. In regards to the song Dresden Blues, i thought it interesting to note that apart from Australia, the band was big in Germany...this band never gets it wrong live.
Glad to see you're getting into them. Please remember the list I left you in the comments. It's a list of the best quality Chisel videos on UA-cam that you are not likely to find on their official channel.
Once you get into Part 2 of this reaction you’ll discover that their is another great voice in this band …. The lead vocals in Cold Chisel is Jimmy Barnes..( solo career too)…. And then Ian Moss ( Lead Guitar)…. Has an equally great voice ….also ( Solo Career)…. This makes this band great because you have two distinctly different voices…..
This was Jim’s birthday, they had just finished mixing the Breakfast at Sweethearts album. The band hated the mix of it and wanted to play the whole album the way they wanted it to sound like.
Am glad to see you covering chisel but personally feel it would be more appealing to people if you covered either ‘the last stand’ concert or “ringside “ concert with video footage of them onstage as people feel more of a connection with footage being shown to see the emotion on the bands faces whilst they perform 🤷♂️
I will get to some of the live stuff but I am a bit limited on how long the video might be. I'm non-monetized and I just do this for fun. If I paid for UA-cam premium I wouldn't have to worry about YT commercials but I'm much too cheap. That's one of the reasons I like these live radio concerts from archive.org. I can just kick back and listen and not have to worry about anything. I've played a bunch of these for a lot of the bands that were active in that era. KSAN FM out of San Francisco aired a lot of them.

I know I said it, but I was at that gig. Bombay Rock was an great venue that housed a lot of great Aussie bands.

Don Walker is the best song writer that Australia has ever produced.

They went to the US in early 80s. And rejected their offer. They wrote a song about it. You Got Nothing I Want
