He fell 500 feet off a cliff... On August 8, 1975, Williams was nearly killed in a mountain-climbing accident in southwestern Montana. While climbing Ajax Peak on the continental divide (Idaho border) west of Jackson, the snow beneath him collapsed and he fell almost 500 feet (150 m) onto rock; he suffered multiple skull and facial fractures. He spent two years in recovery, having several reconstructive surgeries in addition to having to learn to talk and sing again. To hide the scars and the disfigurement from the accident, Williams grew a beard and began wearing sunglasses and a cowboy hat. The beard, hat, and sunglasses have since become his signature look, and he is rarely seen without them.
•The guy on the cow is the late great Jim Varney. Also known as Ernest. (3:02) (He's also in the hot tub at 4:33) • George Jones on the lawn mower, obviously in reference to the infamous story of him driving one into town. (3:33) • The late great Jimmy Dickens in the white hat. (3:43) Artist, and a hilarious guy. • The late great Grandpa Jones (4:30). Artist and starred in the classic comedy show Hee-Haw. • The bearded guy from the Oak Ridge Boys (3:41) (I have a cowboy hat signed by him). • The late legend Waylon Jennings and legend Willie Nelson at the poker table (4:26) (Again at 4:54) • Cheech and Chong coming out of the car. (4:36) • Singer and songwriter Kris Kristofferson. (4:44) • Honorable mention to many more I'm sure I missed. • The car at the end is a symbolism of his dad, and biggest legend of them all, Hank Williams Sr. Who passed away at the age of 29 in the back of his Cadillac on his way to a show, within the first few hours of New Years on January 1, 1953.. Hank Jr was 3 years old when he passed, and references him A LOT.
The guy on the lawn mower is George Jones, I think. During his alcoholic years, he once drove a lawn mower down the highway into town and back to buy alchohol. Tammy Wynette hid all of the vehicles, including the tractor. But George said he looked out the window and saw the lawn mower. He also rode a horse into town for alchohol.
I'm new to your channel and I gotta say you are an amazing young lady you seem so cool down to earth gosh I wish there were more of you bless your heart darlin I hope life is all you deserve and more God bless
Gotta remember who his dad was regarded as one of the most significant and influential American singers and songwriters of the 20th century. But died at 29 from to much... Been there. Well we almost lost ole hank Jr to when he fell off a mountain...he had his face reconstructed. glad bocephus is still with us.. that's a nick name his dad gave him
Yayyy! Glad you enjoyed this. Welcome to the 80's! There are a bunch of country music videos that start this way now. Luke Combs "When it Rains It Pours" kind of starts this way. For another great weekend starter, check out Travis Tritt "T-R-O-U-B-L-E". Not as raunchy, but very Rowdy. In this video from Hank, the guy on the cow is Ernest, who was a HUGE star for a hot minute. Big dude from Hee Haw, as well, and GEORGE JONES on a lawnmower. Kris Kristofferson, Willie Nelson, Cheech and Chong. This would be a hell of a party.
This was a real party. According to the one's there it lasted 3 days. You've done George and Dolly's version of The Blues Man. You need to do Hank Jr's version. Hank wrote the song after his mountainfall in 1975 about his life and then girlfriend (later wife) Becky. It is so heartfelt.
I love Hank jr one of my favorite artist, from country, to blues to southern rock he is amazing. My favorite slow song is the Blues Man. If you want a upbeat rocking song do Man to Man (referencing his father Hank Sr which is a country music legend himself).
You might also check out the bookends to this song (IMHO). 'Family Tradition" is the precursor and 'All My Friends Have Settled Down' is the successor. They are a couple of favorites.
Knowing that Hank back when was every bit as good at partying as was at playing his music, he went full throttle party on this video & of course the partying part of video is all real & lasted at least 3 days reportedly. I 100% believe that as Hank never did anything half-ass, It's done all the way baby!!
When you asked who’s that it was his dad Hank Williams Sr which passed away when Hank was 3. There was so many stars in the video Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, George Jones, Kris Kristofferson, cheech and Chong, Mel Tillis, Grandpa Jone and most of the her haw cast
This is such a stark juxtaposition from what his father (Hank Williams Sr. of course) was. Sr. Drank so much he was banned from the Grand Ol' Opry (so the story goes), but he was so secretive about it. Jr. shouts PARTY from the rooftops and gets richer than his dad could imagine.😂
I saw him in 1985, he opened up with this song, he got so rowdy that he actually ripped the seam of his pants and had to go change! Concord pavilion.....🤣
The car riding into the clouds was Hank Williams, Sr. This video was introed by Paul Williams and is chock full of Country Royalty. Thanks for the reaction.
This song came out my Jr/Sr year. We played the life out of it, back in the woods, we’re only the guy with trucks could get us to, much underage partaking of adult beverages (Bone’s Farm Strawberry wine, sigh), until the cops found us, told us to break it & go home. Good Times.
My wife and I went to see Bocephus in the late 70s. He was so wasted he couldn't get off the bus. Thankfully his opening act, Claude King, did a double shift. I always did like Wolverton Mountain. :-)
on the phone, Paul Williams on the cow, Ernest P. Worrell (Jim Varney) on the mower, George Jones on the pulling tractor, Gailard Sartain (Hee Haw show alumnus) hitchhiker, William Lee Golden (Oakridge Boys) Man in white hat helping with the keg, Little Jimmy Dickens chauffeur, Duane Allen (Oakridge Boys) man arriving in, Frank Zappa poker players, Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson window cleaner, Grandpa Jones (Louis Jones Hee Haw alumnus) hot boxers, Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong guy hooking up with girl, Kris Kristofferson bartender, Bobby Bare blue suit by the pool, Porter Wagoner string of celebs and Mel Tillis and the last was Hank Senior's ghost, in a Cadillac.
Back in the day, Hank was drunk at his concerts and most of the crowd was out of hand. I saw him last summer in Huntsville. He was sober and put on a show. His band was great.
I've been lucky enough to see Hank Jr. 4 times and I was supposed to see him at my State Fair in 2020... Obvioulsy canceled because of Covid... but he came back to our State Fair last year... I had tickets for not just me and my Hubby but 8 other ppl... came down to our farm for the weekend motor homes, guest rooms all loaded up... There was some kinda problem at the fair that night... this is the Fair I've gone to every year of my life... my grandparents lived on Fairground Rd.. for heavens sake.. first time ever... traffic was so horrible... never made it to the concert.. 1.5 miles away from the fair traffic stopped... we waited 2 hrs and hadn't moved.. we just came back to the farm and played him and had a BBQ
Yeah alot of Country singers and rowdy party friends of Hank's. Willie Nelson, Cheech and Chong, Waylon Jennings just to name a few. Even Kentucky's own Jim Varney "Ernest" from Ernest goes to Camp.
Back in the day, I had front row seats for Bocephus, great set by Delbert McClinton and The Kentucky Headhunters, and only a song and a half of an intoxicated Jr. When things started flying towards the stage, we left.
Well you had Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson , Chris Christoherson, the outlaws of country music. Paul Williams was the little guy that called him on the phone.
Gotta check Hanks vid with Van Halen =VH=, My Name Is Bosephious (probably didn't spell that right) it's so hilarious. Alex Van Halen (drummer) shaved his head bald. The vid is awesome.
It's a little sad in a way to watch this video, even though it's a party, a lot of those folks have passed away. Porter Wagoner, George Jones, Waylon, Grand Pa Jones, Jim Varny, just to name a few. One thing I have always liked is the 53 Cadillac, coming in, A tribute to his dad Hank Sr.
You’ve got to do the official video for Hank jr’s song “My name is Bocephus”. There is a surprise appearance by another artist you’ve reacted to. You’ll never guess it.
This video is PACKED with cameos of famous people... But it's been so long since it was made it needs Cliff's Notes.
Born to boogie is one of my favorites from Hank
Hank rewrote this song to become the theme song for Monday Night Football for over 25 years. Are You Ready For Some FOOTBALL!!!
You beat me to it!

George Thorogood, Bobby Bare, Porter Wagoner, The Georgia Satellites, Mel Tillis, Grandpa Jones, Merle Kilgore
Willie Nelson was there too!!!
Three singers from Alabama
Just saw Hank live in a Concert a few days ago, the guy is a FREAKING LEGEND.
I'll be seeing him on July 6.
There's a tear in my beer by Hank Williams Jr and Hank Williams. Its awesome.
The celebrities in this video were phenomenal..... Lots have passed on.
Hank did 'All my Rowdy friends are coming over' then he did 'All my Rowdy friends have settled down'.
Actually Settled down was long before coming over but yeah both great Hank songs
No.....then he did ,are you ready for some football, for Monday night football
Switch those around. They settled waaaay before
"Settled Down..." came out after he fell off the mountain, it was his return to singing.
The man fell off a mountain and lived broke so many bones , but JR is a legend
This aong was the opening credits for 20 years on monday nite football
The guy on the lawn mower is George Jones, I think.
During his alcoholic years, he once drove a lawn mower down the highway into town and back to buy alchohol. Tammy Wynette hid all of the vehicles, including the tractor. But George said he looked out the window and saw the lawn mower.

This was the national anathem to MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL
I saw Hank Jr. at the ROT (Republic of Texas) Motorcycle Rally a few years ago.... no video can capture the diverse and captivating talent he has....
I'm new to your channel and I gotta say you are an amazing young lady you seem so cool down to earth gosh I wish there were more of you bless your heart darlin I hope life is all you deserve and more God bless
In 1981 the product company I was running a mechanical bull for had a party and Hank Williams Jr was there, we had a pig in the ground 😊😊
A dream that I would NEVER want to end!!! You are hilarious Britt!!!!!
Gotta remember who his dad was regarded as one of the most significant and influential American singers and songwriters of the 20th century. But died at 29 from to much... Been there. This song was released in ‘81. It probably is the morning after but also the day of lol. It’s also the origin of the Monday Night Football song.
Only Hank Williams Junior could pull that many famous people together for a music video lol
Yayyy! Glad you enjoyed this. Welcome to the 80's! There are a bunch of country music videos that start this way now. Luke Combs "When it Rains It Pours" kind of starts this way. Yes it took 3-4 days to do this video because everyone was so drunk and high.
@@cliff_rogers7919 Considering Hank and all his rowdy friends, why would that be note-worthy??? 😂🤣
Especially with all them celebrities there
I love Hank jr one of my favorite artist, from country, to blues to southern rock he is amazing. My favorite slow song is the Blues Man. If you want a upbeat rocking song do Man to Man (referencing his father Hank Sr which is a country music legend himself).
Soooo many cameos. I had forgotten just how many.
I love Hank Williams Jr.
NFL Monday Night Football anthem!! My parents loved this song!
You might also check out the bookends to this song (IMHO). 'Family Tradition" is the precursor and 'All My Friends Have Settled Down' is the successor. They are a couple of favorites.

If you'd like to more fully appreciate Hank's singing talent, try his cover of "Ain't Misbehaving "

I think their like a sequel to this song that Hank Jr., and it is call "All My Rowdy Friends Have Settled Down."
My wife and I went to see Bocephus in the late 70s. He was so wasted he couldn't get off the bus. Thankfully his opening act, Claude King, did a double shift. I always did like Wolverton Mountain. :-)
