Make yourself a portable table that will snuggle up to the machine for large flat things, or can be removed when needed for odd shaped pieces or shoes.
I just got one of these contraptions last week. The thing was amazingly easy to get along with. My biggest problem was shredding lower thread when I ran some polyester outdoor thread through it. Radius the holes in the bobbin shuttle and now runs flawlessly. Can't wait to see how it goes with 135 needles from my Sailrite. I'll probably be getting another one to set up like you've done in this video.
I recently bought one of these machines. It started off really well, then I suddenly had an issue with the top thread snapping every time I tried to sew. So, I changed the needle, no win. I adjusted the arm in the bottom according to one of your videos, no win. Next I'm going to go through and adjust all the running gear as per one of your older videos (from about 4 years ago). And if that doesn't work, I'll adjust the needle arm that goes from top to bottom. Hopefully that will get me sorted. EDIT; I have since sorted out the issue and now have no issues and have even sewn leather 4 layers thick with glue between layers: I just had to hop back and forth through your videos. Thanks for doing all the hard yards and research talking with other people. I was looking for a sewing machine like this and it was basically your videos that made me decide on one of these. Fingers crossed, I have a lot of sewing to do. From Australia. Edit; farkin love the t-shirt btw. Can't wait for Ukraine to send the Ruzzian Orcs back to the Kremlin, hopefully with a "love letter" for Putin.
@@justotalkalottashit8392 , it seems the second needle was already partially bent because I changed needles again and have not had an issue since, and I've sewn leather 4 layers thick with glue.
that is a cool stand. i wonder if you could make a removable table area at the front. that way you can have the flat area for stitching leather projects, and then remove it for stitching the shoes and hats.
i found the old treadle from the original 1886 design. you know the one. the treadle that spins the belt sideways instead of front and back. i notice the spinning wheel where you turn the cranks runs all the way to the other side of the machine. this is where i would be attaching a wheel to connect to the treadle? what are your thoughts on pontentially doing this?.
Thanx much for this video! However, I have a problem. The pressure foot on my machine does not lower onto the plate...thus, it isn't able to hold the leather in place to allow a stitch. Any advice on how I can lower the pressure foot?
I've learned quite a bit from watching your videos. I am writing to get as much help as I can for installing a servo motor. I don't want to so any cutting on the machine itself unless absolutely necessary. can you please respond with any info. I tried to under the video that included the servo but ther are many questions need answers. pleas help
I have not motorized mine, made to clamp OEM Juki bench. I have 20 +/- photos to add a knee operated pressor foot lift. Easy to make, $20 if a guy have to but some round bar stock + odds & ends at the home improvement store. Now, I welded my linkage in two spots but will work with you motor driven pulley on the back. Note; I am not good with any social media but I could email photos, draw a diagram that can adapt to your current set up. Just let me know as it is self exclamatory and visually obvious to see how it works. I drilled one hole in the back bar near the end that moves the presser foot up using you knee, even while standing. I use a bar stool type pedestal chair that adjust position using an exhaust clamp as I am a cheap bastard. Send me a comment to tell me if interested as I am 6’3” tall and have some back problems and sitting makes it more enjoyable for me. Also, I have a simple one piece add on to the pedal to make it more comfortable and I feel is better control as I put it on the “V” belt double speed reduction I put on my Juki to slow it down from a weed-water on meth, to a tame kitten with great power. I will look at you home page for your channel for a way to send you photos. Having a laptop quit, then an older iPhone loose Wi-Fi and a few more surgeries just to make it fun! Good new video. You have been busy! DK, Omaha, NE.
My bobbin isn’t picking up. I have followed all the steps in previous videos. It looks like the gear itself may be off and doesn’t rotate properly to catch the thread. I don’t know what to do.

Nope, my machine did not come with the groove in the flywheel. My father did that for me in his metal lathe, so I could run the machine off an old singer motor. Spoiler Alert.... That set-up didn't end up working so well. I went with a servo set-up on my final build.

I agree, that's my next project.
I have had my done like that for yrs now and it works great it's all hand crank
Nice that you are able to return. Thanks for sharing your upgrade. 👍

Yes
If you don't mind me asking does the belt come with the big pulley conversion kit? If not, what belt did you use? Thanks for the video. Good job!!
No, it doesn't come with the kit. The size will all depend on where you mount the motor, it will be different on your set up.
Гарна футболка
Hi, I have one of these & im looking for a bobbin winder. The one I got fits only bigger bobbins. What bobbin winder do you use?
I don't, I still hand wind my bobbins.
I got one of these machines but the upper thread keep going under the part that rotates the shuttle.
