One thing I usually appreciate about WLL reviews is that I don't necessarily feel as though I am being sold a product. I am learning about it, making a decision, and may buy the product. Having a sales person who feels the need to repeat the term super premium--which is a market class, not a reflection of how humans speak to each other to describe the value, features, or benefits of an item--diminishes that feeling of learning and replaces it with a feeling of being sold.
"I'll program my milk temperature at the hottest at level 10"... I'd really like to know what the milk temperature is when dispensing. I had a previous Jura model (I think it was the E8 but don't remember for sure) and had to return it after trying 3 different units. The milk reached a MAX of 115 degrees on all units. I tested myself and at a local Sur La Table. When we called Jura the customer service person was told they were not allowed to talk about milk temperature problems.... very shady. I'd like to know if they've fixed that for these units. While I was very disappointed in how Jura handled the issue back then I am interested in the 6 if it can heat milk to a proper 140-150 degrees.
I tested it myself on the Giga 6 and it cannot heat milk to a temperature higher than 60 degrees Celsius, even on the maximum setting. Pretty disappointing.
If I set the grinder 50/50, is that mean two beans from the left and two beans from the right? Or is it mean one bean from the right and one bean from the left? I am asking this because it seems like bean two is stronger than the last model.
Wow!! THAT is a VERY NICE machine! Is there any other model or manufacturer that does the exact same thing, but at a slightly lower price point? My friend wants the refrigerated milk, the smart phone feature, and the true americano brewing.
Love how they say makes 2 coffees at once. It doesn’t, it makes 2 half strength coffees at once, cause they both come from the same coffee puck. They never mention the Luke warm milk and foam. No matter what you do. You need to add extra hot water to have a decent milk drink. Try it your self. Make a glass of only hot milk. It’s barely warm. But Jura never admit this. And never offer a reason.
Hi RA, Thanks for the comment. Half strength is not entirely accurate. Jura machines like the Giga 6 use a larger coffee dose maxing out at ~14g per brew cycle. That's the traditional dose for a double espresso. The machine has very precise control of milk temperatures with 10 levels. In cup milk temps are subject to a number of variables like source milk, ambient and starting cup temperature. Machines are designed to heat milk into the sweet zone. Temperatures which yield the most apparent sweetness due to heating. Heat milk too much and apparent sweetness quickly fades. That's why properly trained professional baristas froth milk to 130F/54C to 140F/60C. A well made traditional cafe latte should be at a temperature which allows for quick consumption. That said, I know many people expect a hotter drink. IMO it's mostly people coming drinking straight coffee. Milk heated to that temperature would be near or at scalding and have no increase in apparent sweetness. Professional tasters would reject a drink with milk that's too hot. Marc
What a lovely machine ! I'd love to see a 'taste comparison' between the GIGA 6 and a regular 'Manual' machine. I'm pretty sure it would be very close... Thank you for making the video.
Hi Paul, You are welcome and thank you for the comment and request. I generally do not do comparisons between super-automatic bean to cup and semi-automatic machines. In a nutshell, Supers are about consistent convenience. And the Giga 6 is top of the line in that respect. Manual machines take more effort, a bit of knowledge and perhaps some passion to achieve consistent results. But if you've got the time, get it right on a semi-auto machine and the results are generally better. That said, the Giga 6 makes without question some of the best drinks you can get out of a super auto. 2 milk based drinks at a time with mixing of different milk densities, true americanos, bean mixing...the list goes on. Marc

"Maintenance is simple" Sure, it just takes way more time with such superautomatic machines than halfautomatics. I really dislike those notifications when I'm in a hurry. Preparing coffee with a superautomatic is easy but that's it. Owned a high end one, but since I own a less high end and less expensive halfautomatic and a decent grinder, I'll never go back! Better tasting coffee, better milk foam, less maintenance notifications and easier cleaning. Probably the only reason to buy such a Jura machine is for a small office, but home use... not for me anymore!
Hi Peter, Thanks for the comment. Automatic coffee machines are about convenience. Semi-autos can potentially up the quality a notch but it takes knowledge, skill and effort on the part of the user. Milk drinks on the GIGA 6 are the best in the business. The ability to make 2 milk-based drinks simultaneously is just the start. The GIGA 6 can combine 2 different froth densities in the same drink automatically with 10 temperature levels. IMO Jura leads the industry in ease of maintenance. No descaling, RFID chips in water filters so machine knows when it's been changed, simple tablet cleaning of coffee system and easy milk system cleaning.
i know someone who have had one for around 4 years, not a jura, but a Melitta, not up to jura quality maybe, but then it is not in the same price bracket, but it works well and makes ok coffee and is used a lot as there is three people in the house using it. As long as they are cleaned and descaled, they should keep going. the thing that will wear out in time is the Grinder burrs.
I have a high end superautomatic. Never failed in the past 4 years. But since I've switched to a grinder en a fairly cheap half automatic machine, I'm not using the superautomatic anymore. Far better coffee from the halfautomatic and even cleaning is easier. The superautomatic is quicker tho, but that's it.
Hi Peter, Thanks for sharing your experience with automatic coffee machines. As z mentioned take care of these machines and they are very reliable. We regularly get customer reports of 10, 000 cups made with no issues.
The term 'AI' is not really being used correctly here. Populating the beverage selection screen with the most frequently requested beverages isn't 'AI'. It's just good user interface design. AI would be seeing you select the programme for Alice, noticing that statistically you are highly likely to brew a coffee for Bob soon after, and immediately adapting the beverage selection screen to make Bob's programme easily accessible, but then returning the screen to 'most popular' the next morning after neither of those programmes had been activated for a while. Also, what a puny little milk fridge, it's 2.5L or go home if you ask me. *8'

Hi Wiktor, Sorry to hear you are having connection issues. Sounds like you are working with Jura support to resolve the issue? Were you told why you cannot connect with the App? Is it a device compatibility issue? I do not have the tech skills to diagnose the problem. I did have a look at your videos. It appears as though you may have done a reset on the Smart Connect. There isn’t an infinite number of possibilities because the settings number is finite and the steps per setting too. But there should be at least 80 000 which is already too much 😜. The device looks great , the inside looks very high tech and the young lady is doing it very well despite the basic marketing material she has received. Don’t you think that when you are ready to spend more than 3000 €$ for a coffee machine you deserve a value proposition that avoid IA and other BS ? 😬
