Only 30fps on Xbox Series S?, I wonder if this will become more common as games get more demanding. I know the game is poorly optimized but that happened with Death Space Remake and other games as well.
Dead Space Remake also had lazy optimization. Even the XSX/PS5 versions relied on FSR to have a working resolution, with framerate drops being fairly frequent too. EA Motive is infamously lazy and unwilling to improve, Star Wars Squadrons proved that.
The Series S is a great console, you can get one for $250 and still get to play next-gen games. As with a Steam Deck, as long as you are mindful of the costs you should have a ton of fun at an affordable price. The Series S is also the perfect emulation console thanks to Xbox Dev Mode and backwards compatibility is top-notch.
Dead Island 2 went into a 9 year development hell with 3 different studios and the game released with a excellent otimization from the original Xbox One to the Series S to the XSX and PS5. A game with a troubled development managed to get a better release than many current triple A games lol.

Meanwhile Jedi survivor will need 6 months of patches before it's worth playing 😂. Typical respawn though they just don't have a clue what they're doing fallen order was also a joke.
I've got no chance in hell of running the game well on my i5 13400f and 4070ti then. I'll just keep playing dead island 2 a game running with the same engine as Jedi survivor but actually runs flawlessly
For anyone specificallg interested in the Series X version, I made a video showcasing some of the issues there. Performance mode is a mess with constant frame drops, and terrible texture pop-in and muddy models (as shown here). There's times during freeroam, when you stop and pan the camera to Cal's face, he literally looks like an oil painting... Overall, it's a very poorly optimized game, unfortunately. Some people have experienced few issues whole others have a gauntlet of problems. Hoping Respawn can get this ironed out in the coming weeks as there is clearly a gem hiding under all this mess!
Cal’s face! It’s true. Exactly my experience on Series X overall. Plus even when the frame rate is stable there is constant stutter/judder. Data streaming issues probably. I’ll come back to it in a few months. Real shame.
yes... performance mode looks like 720p to me on series X. I just came from Elden ring, and played in performance mode and it looked great, went to JS and I was like what the hell is this
I have a series s and honestly the first hour of the game played and felt great but after awhile it seemed like the game started getting choppy and I notice it the most when moving my screen while standing still or running and it’s honestly kinda disappointing and I was just wondering if anyone else has noticed this?
Thanks for telling me this, was going to buy the game today for my Xbox Series S, but now after seeing these performance videos, I'm probably going to wait until EA figures out these performance issues, glad I didn't let my FOMO get the better of me, I was really excited for this game to come out.
I'm currently playing on my series s and I wouldn't say the experience is bad because is not but I do have to say that it does need some optimization because the graphics seem too grainy , there are some times " outlines " to stuff including cal and lastly in some parts and cut scenes the textures load slow or don't load at all
I hope they add options with no ray tracing to help keep a higher base resolution and steadier frame rates. Ray tracing is icong on the cake that we gamers don't need yet until 4k/60 is no problem.
Exactly, ray tracing really messes up with performance, they should at least offer the option of turning it off, but that would have meant making other forms of illumination, which takes development time.
Why didn't you do a performance graph for the area after the giant animal? That is the real stress test, and that's where the quality mode introduces screen tearing and serious frame drops. This video makes it look like it's solid, and it's far from it.
For anyone wondering how it effects an actual playthrough of the game this is my experience. I ran through the whole game (Xbox series X) on 4K quality mode and only had frame issues in a handful of cutscenes, gameplay wise the game had little to no stuttering for majority of it. Running back through new game plus I decided to turn performance mode on and that’s when I started running into a lot of frame drops. Constant 60fps would certainly be nice but the problem with this game is performance mode is not optimized almost at all. I would recommend just running quality until we get a patch for performance mode as you will find significantly less problems and issues.
@@drowz9825 just turn off performance mode in settings and it auto adjusts. If your trying to turn on 4k, atleast on Xbox you have to go into your Xbox settings and find the tv option
It has nothing to do with RT reflections, it's just poor optimization in general. Watch Daniel Owen video about this game, he explains that it's a massive CPU bottleneck even for 7900X3D.
RT ambient occlusion is also turned on on performance mode. Performance is actually good when you think about it. Whether using 2 RT effects on performance mode was a good idea or not is quite something else.
We need Quality Mode with 120hz mode at 40fps. Why devs are not adding this to all games is beyond me, especially when there's such a budget... it is the perfect choice for those of us who rather have better graphics while having a MUCH better performance and smoothness
@@ConservativeJuggaloPodcast you clearly never played with this mode before. It is far from Choppy. It has a much more fluent gameplay without it feeling too fast like 60fps feel. Those extra 10fps make a crazy difference

@DEV The first one is a good game, you don't need to know THAT much about the star wars universe, it'll set you up to follow the story of the second, it's on EA play/gamepass if I'm not mistaken and by the time you're done then probably survivor will have received a couple of patches and will be a better experience than it is now.
@@daplon You misunderstand, I’m referring to before the video released, I couldn’t find a clear answer about RT. Hence why I was waiting for his video, because it gave me the answer.
I am playing on tge series S, NGL pretty smooth. So definitely recommend on this platform (Will update if anything goes wrong). Probably not running half as smooth on PC though. The port is not great as of now. I think what's bothering people is that first and foremost it's like the closest to a perfect star wars game, with only the optimization completely ruining the experience.. And second, the fact that they said all they had to say when Cyberpunk released. EA literally chose to get their cash first and fix it later. With console gamers relatively not being affected that much, but PC gamers having a sour experience. They honestly had a hard job, because it's a star wars game it's like freaking George Washington's picture on the one dollar bill, it has to be something that everyone has access to, so I get that it was never going to be a console exclusive. But that makes a title all the more hard to develop right? Plus, it's been about 3 years between the release of the OG and this one, that's a very short development cycle for a product this big, so NGL I'm still rather impressed. If they optimize everything in a couple of months, I think they have themselves a GoTY contender. The only "flaw" in this game is the optimization, everything else is perfection I swear. And this isn't becasue of Disney and EA, it's because of Respawn, who deserve to get a lot of credit for this IMHO. EA though, Pfffff they probably forced Respawn to release early... I can't eblieve they were trying to release earlier!!! Have you seen how ambitious this product is?! No freaking way this was coming out in 2 years, heck the mere fact that it came out in 3 is like... Insane
@@samf.s.7731 nah, they already had good base with first game. 2 years is more than enough in such case, but even with 3.5 years they fall miserably, even dropping pastgen.
I've seen a lot of "I'll wait for updates" comments about this game. It's funny that for the last 10-15 years, those who pay the least amount of money for a game get the most complete version. If you can get over the new game launch hype, and play one of the other 500 games in your backlog(whose now probably better after patches) then you get a better version later. Heck, waiting a couple of weeks to play RE4 apparently meant that my performance mode had slightly better graphics
Very very impressive they are using RTAO and RT Reflections at 4k30 and 1440p60 at high quality settings. Yea I know there is performance issues etc but this is probably the most a game has pushed next gen hardware and making use of features.
It's EA guys what could you expect? A flawless game like GoW or Naughty Dog's games? It's filled with bugs/glitches/performance issues and microtransactions. If it doesn't have microtransactions then all of the above
With VRR enabled, Series X plays great on quality mode. No judders or screen tearing. PS5 has an issue with it's own VRR implementation however, it won't work below 48hz so you'll get stutter.
The point is that the game drops below 48fps....and the resolution in performance mode can be close to 720p...in currentgen machines! This is a terrible job from the devs, a total mess.
The first reflections comparison makes the XSX version look very close to the PC version (mixed lighting colour), while the PS5 looks like its missing a light or two).
seeing first tests on PC i though its another bad PC port. but apparently its just another badly optimised game overall. i hope there would be some backlash
Series X is just a poorly designed console compared to PS5. It is why even 1st party games like Redfall look average and are launched with 30fps max. PS5 is just a better designed console and its first party games look and run so much better than anything on Series X Having said that, this game is poorly optimized for both consoles it seems.
It’s the Series S, its specs are struggling now. 10 GB RAM and a weaker GPU than the Series X. A mid-gen update is definitely needed, and I wouldn’t mind if it’s $100 more than the original. As for the game itself, it’s running like poop on every platform. Just look at PC.
It seems that this is another game that had PS5 as a priority, Xbox with serious texture loading problems and unstable performance, and Broken PC version!!!
But this always seems to be the case. What if Xbox just isn’t what it claims to be. At some point if every developer is having an issue…including Microsoft maybe something else is going on.
Before these consoles launched people in the know did warn us and say there are bottlenecks with the Xbox that could surprise. Bottlenecks with the CPU and how it basically sends data down the pipes.
No me has preguntado a mí 😂.
I feel worried for the upcoming games on the ps5 ,soon it will no longer be able to hold steady 60 on newer games and they might went the same route with the ps4 again
Pc will give the best performance as always but the difference of price with consoles is never justified and add the gpu problem and all kind of stuff that PC gamer has, not saying console has zero bugs, but in 13 years of xbox service I only had minor problems. And to me its way more easier to play on consoles bcs you just had to turn on the console and in 15 seconds you play, the TV is in front of my bed, I just had to pick the controller next to me and it's finished, while the PC I have to get off my bed, sit on the desk turn on...boring as hell.
It depends on if you can deal with screen tearing and abysmal frame rate. If so then go with performance. If you want rock solid frame rate and better image quality go with quality mode.
Why there is reflections in the puddles on the PS5 and XSX even in performance mode unlike the PC, which doesn't deliver reflections in no RT mode? Is it so complicated for the devs to make SSR instead of RT when it turned off?
The reflections in performance mode are still using RT, not SSR. I'm guessing they just fall back to cubemaps instead but yeah, it would be nice to see SSR it's place when switched off.

Baked in reflections would have been fine. This whole RT gig on current Gen should be flipped off.
How do you switch back to quality mode
@@drowz9825 just turn off performance mode in settings and it auto adjusts. If your trying to turn on 4k, atleast on Xbox you have to go into your Xbox settings and find the tv option

I love how we went from Dead Island 2 one of the most optimized games of 2022 to worst in just a matter of days
Wait, so RT Reflections are turned on even on Performance mode? This might explain the poor performance all around.
Yeap i preffer to choose rt off on consoles cause it’s overrated to me
It has nothing to do with RT reflections, it's just poor optimization in general.

I've seen a lot of "I'll wait for updates" comments about this game. It's funny that for the last 10-15 years, those who pay the least amount of money for a game get the most complete version.

It's a shame of optimization, and on the xbox serie x where are the 12 teraflops?
Why are the games so poorly optimized on this console?
Series X is just a poorly designed console compared to PS5. It is why even 1st party games like Redfall look average and are launched with 30fps max. PS5 is just a better designed console and its first party games look and run so much better than anything on Series X Having said that, this game is poorly optimized for both consoles it seems.
