    This thing is cheaper than most pro lenses and looks like it would be just fine as a b-cam.

    I'm looking for a camera that has two things, great stabilization when on the walk and most of all great audio. Audio when there was no music sounded great. I have the Canon Legria HF R806, good stabilization and picture but the audio goes really tinny, like your voice drops in and out in high and low pitch when the wind comes across which is not great. What's that like in steady wind. Does the audio do that?

    Guys I have this cam as well and I put an external mic on the cam (Panasonic VW-MS10 MIC)
    In the Menu /record setup/MIC LEVEL I have 3 choices,( Auto, SET AGC ON, SET AGC OFF) I leave the mic to AUTO. the audio indoors is horrible, and the outdoors isn't great . What are the best overall audio settings I should use? (I don't want to be adjusting anything for different scenarios like indoors and outdoors, up close, far away.)

      Not sure on its recording length normally Camcorders will continue recording depending on how much space you have and battery life Can be plugged into mains to run continuously. First of all thank you for the answer.
      I've contacted with Panasonic, sent them some few secs footage samples, they said it's a "perfectly acceptable level of microphone base noise" (even if it's disturbingly loud for anyone who hears it). Well I just bought 2 months ago, but they won't replace it, my only available option is to send back the camera for maintenance.
      Anyway...
      I tried to set the AGC off with -15 to -21 (db), the "noise" is still there. The problem occurs with my Rode videomic NTG too after I connected the two device.

      @HighcountryFlylife Рік тому

      @Nature Shepherd What do you mean by loud hissing noise? I think I might know what you are trying to say, if it is what I think I wouldn't think of it as a hissing noise. I have a Canon Legria and it has this microphone background base noise where how id describe it as back ground road noise when sitting inside a car if that's what your referring too. If it is that's just part of the territory of these style of camera, particularly hand held cameras with stereo 2channel inbuilt mics. They all have it, some slightly louder than others. The older models are slightly louder. I don't find it a problem if your filming outdoor activity because there's so much going on in terms of back ground noise you don't notice it really but if your filming indoors when you want your mic too sound completely silent these cameras are not great for the indoors. GoPros for instance don't do it.

    Does the VX1 have any autofocus issues? This footage looks great, but do you ever find that some of the footage is not as sharp as it should be? If it focuses reliably then I wold agree that it is underrated. But then Canon and Sony have been getting so good with camcorders lately that it is hard for Panny to stand out. But it is even worse for JVC. Remember when. The were a big deal in video? Not anymore but because of it their camcorders are great value for money these days, and the VX1 really appears to be a gem.
    PS, where are those bay and river scenes filmed?

    • @OzzieTech
      @OzzieTech  5 років тому +2

      No focus issues at all. Scenes are taken around the Cleveland area in Brisbane

    • @artistjoh
      @artistjoh 5 років тому +2

      OzzieTech Thank you for the focus reassurance. With their GH-5 focus issues, Panny isn’t trusted with autofocus so much these days, especially now that Sony and Canon are getting so good at it.
      Cleveland? No wonder I didn’t recognise any of it. I don’t think I have ever been there. Nearest would have been passing through Capalaba on the way to Wynnum. I’m a Syddney boy so have limited experience of Brisbane. In some of your videos I saw blue and white barges and had assumed they might be on the Brisbane River. UA-cam videos are generally about other things, in your case a camera, but I find it fascinating to see the places where people live wherever that is in the world. I am sure many people would find your part of the world a very beautiful place with a surprising amount of birdlife. Thanks for sharing it.

    • @OzzieTech
      @OzzieTech  5 років тому +1

      Focusing with camcorders are always done differently than on Camera's such as the Gh5. I have the Gh5 and its focus is not nearly as bad as some make it out to be.

    • @artistjoh
      @artistjoh 5 років тому +2

      OzzieTech The GH-5 AF has improved a lot since its first release but they made a mistake in releasing it with the issues it had at that time. It was noticeably worse than the GH-4. I have the GH-1 and GH-2 and they are okay with AF. The problem for Panny is that they are now compared to Sony and Canon who are getting close to AF perfection and so any imperfection Panny has gets magnified. It is very easy to plaster the internet with any problem that someone is having, and yet far fewer people demonstrate the improvements when they come along.
      I remember, however the video AF on the Canon 5D mark 2, which was often frustrating, but few complained about it back then because by the standards of the day it was considered cutting edge. Phase detection, and Dual Pixel technologies have revolutionised AF perfection, however, and raised people’s expectations. I think it is a mistake for Panasonic to keep using the older technology in the hybrid cameras when they do so much better with camcorder AF. And they should never rush to release before teething problems are fixed.
      My “big” camera is the Panny DVX-200 camcorder. It has a MFT sensor, and AF works perfectly so I know they can match it with Sony and Canon when they get it right. Just the same, I have mostly moved to Sony gear from Panny, mostly because of slow motion, larger sensors, and AF worries. The VX1 is the first Panasonic camera in a while that that I have seriously considered for purchase. It would fit well into my “small” camera bag with GoPro for adding better low light and and optical zoom but still be small enough for easy mounting in cars etc and small enough to be always with me. I have the Sony AX53, which is a great camcorder, but is just that little lit longer, and quite a bit heavier, so isn’t quite so easy to work with the GoPro’s.

    I have this camcorder. And I am definitely not happy with it. For a 4k camcorder it's terrible the video is all washed out very gray the autofocus is very slowly. Thinking of sending back to Panasonic and let them take a look at it before I throw it out. . This is my 3rd Panasonic camcorder and it's not good. My older one was just HD and far better in every way.

      I would love to do a comparison between the two but I do not have access to a AX43 and cant afford to purchase one for the review.

    Does this camera have a pause and restart feature during video shooting? I just bought this camera and could not find this feature.
