    This is an ashtray mold ; I made several for Christmas gifts and everyone loves them! I suggest that they are fine to ash in, but never to put a cigarette out in.

    That is very neat looking. You could make or add a small gem or something in those three spots to cover the fact that it's an ashtray. And you are so right, resin should not be used for ashtrays.

    Hi Steve, are you aware that a sugar solution rotates polarised light? I'm curious whether epoxy will still set if mixed with syrup? Combined with a polarising screen, perhaps it would create astounding lampshades...

Adore you Steve ❤ I wish we could find that mold that isn't an ashtray! Hi there, love your videos. Need to ask you two questions 1st- can I buy resin on its own ? 2nd - my resin isn’t setting properly it’s still soft and bendable after 3 days even though I measured it exactly and mixed it for the correct time ?

    • @lindacondray7918
      @lindacondray7918 3 роки тому

      If it’s Art Resin brand resin, they will sell each part separately. Just email or call them and ask. I had accidentally used the weight calibration instead of volume on my scale (my scale does either, but changes modes on me sometimes on its own and I hadn’t noticed.) That threw off my part A & B ratios. My resin still cured but over the coarse of a few projects I ended up out of synch. They were very friendly about selling just the one part.
      As Steve mentioned below, check that you’re using the right measuring mode; volume or weight. Many resins are actually denser than the hardener so would weigh more than an equal volume of the hardener. Hope our suggestions help. Also, I would assume that many of the other brands will sell individual if you contact them and ask. They might also be able to help figure out why not curing.
      GOOD LUCK!

    No way! I thought you had to mix a bit of mica with alcohol to paint with it!, your way is much better I don’t like using isopropyl unnecessarily! Your way is much more opaque! Guess what I’m doing tomorrow 😁

    • @bloodycreekdesigns1419

      Cigarettes usually burn at 900c so that wouldn't be enough for a Cigarette. I dont know of any that are heat resistant to flames or Cigarettes

  • @jessicaraelene5276
    @jessicaraelene5276 3 роки тому +1

    Isn't there a heat safe resin that you can use in products like that? also I think there's a food safe one if you wanted to make the little shot glasses right? I've never really been too familiar with those so I'm not sure

    • @bloodycreekdesigns1419

      A cigarette burns st around 900c so no resin ive found is heat safe to that high level of heat / flame.

    • @bloodycreekdesigns1419
      @bloodycreekdesigns1419 3 роки тому +2

      Also with the food safe i dont think any are 100% safe as they say the alcohol can still break down the resin over time.
