The shire hall had a much darker past,as it was a place of hangings. The once beautiful street known as tindel street had the guts ripped out of it years ago back in the early 70s...it had a street that had the greasy spoon cafe,and the spotted dog pub..and the lovely cramphorn pet shop,all sadley gone now. Where the chancellor hall is stood ,there was the outdoor market,...much remembered from my past. Always hated the multi story car park. Spent many times walking along Central Park path there with my old mum.

Half-expected to see myself in this video, as you'll find me walking into town two or three times a week. i do admire your spirit in getting out and about as you seem to. I'm a bit too worried about being accosted and fined. This gives me a bit of confidence! I agree with someone below - a walk out of town, through the park to Writtle, would be (is) a lovely walk, especially with spring just around the corner. You can even get a bus back into town afterwards. (The walk in the opposite direction would work too!) For those who are thinking of visiting, rest assured that it is always as sunny as this in Chelmsford. Nice little tour, thank you. I'll have a look at some of the others.

Nice video. i feel sorry for the people who are begging in and around town when there is more help here out of that than i seen anywhere else. it doesnt have to cost thousands on rehab treatment like i had to borrow. Help at Sanctus, Chess and its a great city for fellowship. I moved here in 2017 from thurrock and love living here apart from people thinking im rich when i got responsibilities and debt myself.
I’m out in town every day for work, these ‘homeless’ people half of them have flats to live in. Get offered help all the time. Make more money from begging so they refuse the help. It’s like when you offer them food and all they want is money

Writtle grew when Chelmsford's bridge over the Can was washed away. If you were travelling from London to Colchester then the Writtle crossing was the next option upstream.
Okay for dog walking? I'm in Canada, and in Montreal, apparently, they have/had a rule that you could walk your dog. Some lady put a leash on her husband and both were fined.

@@susanbrown2909 it all depends on who you are and what you do to be honest, to a normal civilian going about their day-to-day business it would be a decent place to live. But i have seen the other side of Chelmsford- away from all the ‘sunshine and roses’ if you understand what i am talking about... over all it isnt the worst place to live- but there is very LITTLE opportunity left in Chelmsford, ever since it has become a City most of the opportunity’s have been taken up by others so it’s very hard to make it out if you are relying on only Chelmsford.

Chelmsford had it's heart torn out many years ago, some old buildings remain, as a monument of it's former glory. Gone but not forgotten, Amen.

@@susanbrown2909 it all depends on who you are and what you do to be honest, to a normal civilian going about their day-to-day business it would be a decent place to live. But i have seen the other side of Chelmsford- away from all the ‘sunshine and roses’ if you understand what i am talking about... over all it isnt the worst place to live- but there is very LITTLE opportunity left in Chelmsford, ever since it has become a City most of the opportunity’s have been taken up by others so it’s very hard to make it out if you are relying on only Chelmsford.
