RainbowRoad 64 remake is by far the best track on all of MK. The visuals, the layout and the music just all come together to create an epic nostalgia.

Johnny D_6471 MKWii really has the hardest, because it throws so many different elements at you and you just need to know how to react to them. It's easier once you've raced on it several times, but I still find myself screwing up every once in a while.

Yeah as classic as n64 rr is it doesn’t really fit to well with the other rr’s, as it is way too long and has pretty much no challenge
SNES: Quite good for its time.
SNES v2: Ok, music isn't that good, but it's still good to play
SNES v3&4: It has finally reached the summit. And it seems worn out... But still funny.

GBA: As someone who grew up with it, it isn't so great when you know how to drive on it.
GC: Such glassy effects. Much color. Very boosted. Jumping shells. Wow.

Wii: Well, hello there, "hard", bleached track... Just don't use Wii-Wheel and that's it.
3DS: Sure it was enormous, but it was excellently done. *Stares to N64.*

It's so boring, the entire race always took like six minutes to complete. That's why it was shortened to a single lap with three checkpoints in Mariokart 8.

Oh, you think GBA's Rainbow Road is boring? That's just how it looks, buddy. Super Circuit's Rainbow Road is actually awesome - You get to launch and bounce around everywhere using the ramps that border the road. With a mushroom, you can pull of some insane shortcuts that are fun to do. Boost pads are everywhere on the south and east of the track so you get to go super duper fast. Seriously, Super Circuit as a whole is very underrated by people who never played it.

catluvr2 mario 64 was made closer to the first moon landing than modern day.
For me 64 is iconic, the illuminated faces and the soundtrack is so nostalgic.
GC was pretty innovative, the pastel colors, the floating objects and the banging soundtrack do a wonderful job !
Wii is really memorable and the design of the track is pretty diverse and fun !
3DS is probably one of the best as it finally included planets on the track !
WiiU/Switch the remake of 64 is an eye candy ! The colors, bouncing chomps, the train and the fireworks were very welcomed additions/modifications,
and for the new entry in the RR tracks, it is also very good-looking, very sci fi-sh and fun to play but… personally, it doesn’t really feel like it’s a RR tracks.
For GBA, SNES and DS I’m pretty indifferent toward them.

Double Dash's Rainbow Road was pretty cool, but DS was a rollercoaster! Wii also had a good one, and I especially love how in 7 you actually leave the rainbow for a planet's rings, and an actual planet! Too bad 8 has such a boring one after the previous few being amazing.
At least 8's is playable, unlike Super Circuit's.

My favorite Rainbow Roads are:
MK 7: Because of how gorgeous it looks, nicely challenging, wonderful soundtrack, and it's well-designed!
Super Circuit: Because of how treacherously difficult it can get, and it's really fun to try and master it's shortcuts! Plus it's pleasing to look at.
MK DS: It looks phenomenal and tests your use of drift boosts to it's full potential!
Ds rainbow road has nothing special, it's not very hard.

With it being over 10+ years that I’ve been playing Mario Kart, MKDS and MKWii are favorite installments in the series, especially their Rainbow Roads. They’re just so memorable, and the nostalgia I have for them is so massive that someone might mistake it for blind allegiance.

Ngl, I sorta want the next Mario Kart to have a complete revamp of the GBA Rainbow Road. It’s the oldest RR that hasn’t been remastered, and I do think that adding anti-gravity elements to it would make it a short thrill of a track. (I like the SNES RR, it’s really fun online because of its length, but it’s been remade too many times, and nothing really changes about the track.)
agreed, i think that the mario kart after the next one coming up should have double dash's rainbow road because it was the game after super circuit, and it should go on like that for every entry in the series

My personal verdict (not counting remakes):
SNES: Never played it, seems pretty good; it's the original Rainbow Road, that's almost all that needs to be said.
N64: Most nostalgic. I especially remember the faces illuminating as you race as well as having to avoid the chain chomps.
GBA: Never played this one either.
GCN: Pretty good. Obviously you need to know the drift mechanics well in order to master this.
Arcade GP: Never played this one either.
DS: Pretty nostalgic. The spiral, loop, and corkscrew are definitely memorable elements.
Wii: Been a long time since I played this one. If I do again I imagine I'd fall off every corner. 🤣
3DS: Amazing. Planets and moons incorporate well with the fact RR is supposed to take place in space.
Wii U/Switch: Most disappointing. Yes, this takes place in space, but did you really need to make the whole thing into a space station?? You may as well call this "Space Station Road" at this point, there's almost nothing actually rainbow-y about this one.
Yeah, MK8's Rainbow Road was the weakest.

My Top 8 Rainbow Roads:
8. N64. Sorry, but its design is very lazy, even at N64 standards. But I'll give credit for being a recurring theme. Also, overrated.
7. Super Circuit. Meh. However, the music sounds cool.
6. Original. It's the founder, dammit!
5. Double Dash. Music is noice, love the rising part and that it's over a city.
4. DS. I GREW UP WITH THIS ONE!
3. Wii. Points off for being too hard, but the music is GODLIKE, and the track looks beautiful! (Also love how when you fall you catch in fire)
2. 3DS. I love the music, love the astronomic theme of this one, and how beautiful it is.
1. Wii U/Switch. I like the Space Station theme! It's good to have a small break every once in a while from the magic approach of it.
And the music always sends shivers up my spine. Also, proves that the Mario Kart League is FREAKING RICH.

Part of me can't help but laugh that one lap in F-Zero's Rainbow Road is faster than one lap of Mario Kart 64's Rainbow Road which are both essentially the same track.

2: 7 (great design, great music, a bit easy though)
3: super mk (simple but fun and challenging)

6: double dash (I haven't actually played it, I'm basing it of what I've seen, might be better than the others)
7: 8 (bland and dull)
8: 64 (WAY too long and tedious, good music though)

the Wii rainbow road was so cool I would fall sometimes just to see the burning animation
imo the hardest one when you're actually playing it is the gcn rainbow road because when the cpus use a shock it sends you skidding off the track uncontrollably. the physics in that game were weirdly slippery.
another hard track is mk8/dx *when in 200cc. the extreme speed makes the turns hard to pull off.

I hate how in all 3 of mk8 dx's rainbow roads the map is normal while in the Wii u version the maps for the rainbow roads were rainbow colored. I thought it was a cool touch that they just took out for some reason.
