Some 3 years ago I also bought a beautiful second hand, early 2000’s Speedmaster from Japan. Absolutely fantastic condition & since I bought it, I really haven’t considered buying a Subby. Each time I wear it, I just drool over it. So I know the 50m water resistance does work!🤪🤣🤭
A good review with a bit of humor, I really like that. The Speedmaster is a very beautiful watch. I bought it in white, and I’m so happy with it. I also left a subscription! Keep it up!
Very nice - what a beauty! I don't think it detracts from the watch but I can't understand the previous owner dropping thousands on it then scratching the lugs. I sometimes get a cold sweat swapping straps on a £500 Seiko ;-)
Me personally I was never that obsessed about Rolex. Rolex makes super nice watches and I like seeing them with other people, but I don't want the super recognizable Rolex brand on my wrist. It's just not my brand or image that I want myself and i don't like that everybody (mostly non watch people) recognize it straight away (personal opinion). The Speedmaster Pro was also my grail watch and my first luxury watch that I bought. I wear it everyday and will never sell it. Now I'm looking at the FOIS to add to the collection.
My wife gave me the 2020 version in Hesalyte for our 40th. I‘m a child of the space age. All other watches are trivial. In a thousand years your descendant can wear this to an air & space museum and see that it was the first watch worn on the moon. All other watches will be forgotten. This is really the only watch. It is a permanent icon of mankind’s greatest achievement: the first steps on another world. This would be a handsome watch without the moon landing. But with it…..

Im not saying rolex are the most appealing watches especially for a watch guy, but the sound of their name, the crown logo, the myth about that brand is too seductive. I like e.g. Omega but they lost their power for me after the swatch collab. Imagine a CasioxRolex for under 500 🫥
It’s a great pick up, I think the retail price is crazy though. Picked up my 2024 Hesalite for £4k almost 3k below retail. I also have a Submariner, it’s a great watch but I do worry wearing it out as it’s so obviously a Rolex. The Speedy I can chuck in and not worry about

These watches were never to the moon. They never left earth. If it even is a true story, only one omega was ever to the moon . Along with a bulova. This is just a ham an cheese story . “Oh”, these omegas went to the moon. They never left the earth atmosphere. An personally, i do not believe “man” ever walked on any moon. Its all lies…….

Until I had this I didn’t realise how much I hated manual wind only watches, it didn’t last long.

Current Speedmaster prices are a bit crazy...I bought my Hesalite new with an Omega dealer below £4k back in the days.

A few careless bracelet/strap changes on that one unfortunately, those lugs are pretty scratched. I trust it will be looked after better now!
