- Here's a rare recording of Jaco's WOM sextet's complete first set at The Bayou in Washington D.C on June 28th in 1982. It's an audience recording that sounds like it was recorded pretty far from the stage so the sound quality is not great, but all the musicians including Jaco were really "on" performance wise. The quality of Jaco's soloing falls somewhere between the filmed Montreal concert and the gig at Toad's Place( which you can find in its entirety on my channel) in terms of fluidity, execution and phrasing ideas. The highlight of the show is in my opinion Jaco's solo on "Mr Phone Bone" where he's really in the zone and his legendary facility is on full display. In other words a fine performance that I'm sure you'll enjoy :)
Full band: Jaco Pastorius - bass, Peter Erskine - drums, Don Alias - percussion, Bob Mintzer - bass clarinet and tenor saxophone, Othello Molineaux - steel drums, Randy Brecker - trumpet

Thank's a lot for this jewel : Jaco was a novator for elecric bass players like Lester Young/Charlie Parker/Jhon Coltrane for saxophones ; Lee Paul or Jimmy Hendrix for electric guitar/Duke Ellington ; Théolonious Monk ; Mc Coy Tynner ; Cécil Taylor on piano/Gene Krupa ; Lent White ;Anthony Williams or Joey Baron on drums
You're welcome. He was an innovator for sure. Greetings from Norway.
