Tbh if Raeleen has a baby it might bump up her reading to new extremes lol. I listened to over 100 audiobooks and this entire podcast twice last year when my baby was born. I needed lots of company while I was on maternity leave and especially during those first few months when you barely sleep and you need something to keep you awake while you nurse and wash bottles and pump parts at 3am lol.
Would you guys EVER consider releasing a Certified Reader / Books Unbound book stamp?? I would stamp every book I own… imagine someday coming across a Certified Reader stamped book in a thrift store people!! The dream!
Oh the pure joy at seeing this thumbnail! 😍 Love you guys and books unbound so much. Congratulations on 5 years and hope for many many more fun years of books unbound!! 🎉
I loved the question about favorite podcast memories because I definitely have one! We were in the trenches of the pandemic and one week you both decided to get bangs and you called them pandemic bangs. I don’t know why but you two giggling about your pandemic bangs made me laugh out loud back then and it’s just one of those stand out moments for me! Love you both! Happy 5 years!
Ooh I remember another favorite memory! It was the first book debate segment where one of the questions was deckled edges or no deckled edges and as we know Ariel hates deckled edges! And Raeleen didn’t mind then them and Ariel goes “how do you turn the page?!?” And Ruben goes “at the top”. Ariel was too stunned to speak 😂 So funny
This is so special. I listened to the first episode way back in October 2019 and then didn't continue until March 2020, when after quarantining with my parents in Ottawa, I headed back to Kitchener I marathoned your first 20 episodes. And I have a visceral memory of driving down highway 7 and then an abandoned 401 listening to you guys and falling in love with your friendship and reading. I've listened to every episode since. It's been so special to see you read and grow and laugh over the years. And just have Canadian women in their 20s/30s reading. ❤
This episode made me so emotional. I have been watching Raeleen since the early booktube days, I even remember her responding to one of my comments that I left on one of her videos. I feel like I have grown up beside the two of you. Books Unbound is by far my favorite podcast ever and it truly is a comfort podcast for me. I am so happy that the two of you began this wonderful project and shared it with all of us. It's so funny to say that two people I have never met and a silly little podcast mean so much to me. Thank you for 5 years of Books Unbound and to hopefully many more!
Happy Anniversary, you two!! You are endlessly delightful; I enjoyed every minute of this celebration! Cheers, and here’s to many more years sharing your enthusiasm for books, and beyond!!🥂💐📚❤️❤️
As someone who's been in bed with flu all week, this extra long episode really lit up my cold-ridden soul! Thank you for bringing me so much comfort and joy, and congrats on the five years, ladies! Look forward to still listening to you when you're eighty-year olds on your porch
Congrats on 5 years! I love the pod and adore the both of you. I have read such a different books than I would’ve normally read because of your recommendations. I’ve opened myself up to graphic novels as well. Oh what a joy this journey has been. May it continue! ❤❤❤
Happy five year anniversary! I've been here from the beginning and it's truly one of my favorite podcasts ❤️ Also, Ariel, I finally finished all the Jane Austen books by reading Mansfield Park last year, I was a bit bored at first but then I listened to it on audio and actually enjoyed it quite a lot so I think you should go for it. Also, fellow Ruth Wilson and Toby Stephens Jane Eyre lover over here, and Brontë fan in general - I read Jane Eyre the first time when I was 12 and then read it like 4 times during my early teens 😂 - but I would really recommend The Tennant of Wildfell Hall, that book does not get enough credit for how groundbreaking it is for its time.
Funny thing about the kat Deming's effect is that the episode of the kamogawa food detectives was the first one I ever heard. I liked the concept of the book, read it bought it and was midway reading it when Ariel said "well oups it's only okay" 😂
I lent my copy of Inkheart to my grandma and she read it in the bath and returned it to me absolutely destroyed-I was so upset! Also my copy of Four by Veronica Roth got run over my a car the day after I bought it 😂
Congrats on the anniversary guys! Today is my birthday so I'n celebrating with you ❤️ I've loved the pod since the beginning and will see it out until the very end!! Here's to the next 5! 🎉🎉🎉
I’ve been listening for two years, and now I’m going back and listening to the ones that I missed, and it’s a blast. My fav podcast, it’s like talking to friends
I can’t believe it’s been five years!! Congrats to you both :) I remember when I first listened to the podcast it was right around when i first saw Ariel’s house plant tour lol. At the time I lived in a bedroom with two very skinny windows inset about two feet into the wall. I had no plants and dreamed of your collection hahahaha. I love this podcast and I have been a consistent listener for its entirety and i cannot wait to keep listening for as long as the pod continues to live on. You guys are the only podcast I listen to because every other one I try doesn’t compare 🎉🎉🎉🎉 no offense to those other people I’m sure they’re lovely. Happy five years!!
Wow it's been five years! Congratulations 🤗🎉 Thank you for making such a wonderful pod and cosy space on the internet 🌟 I have so enjoyed tuning in these past years. Here's to the next five! 📚
Been here since the 1st episode! I started watching in high school and now I'm married and finishing a college degree. Currently reading The Sound of a Wild Snail Eating! And loving it!
Happy Anniversary! I just realized how long I have been watching the podcast. I found it just before the shutdown of the pandemic, early 2020. Which means it was early in the podcast. I have enjoyed every one. I have a suggestion for the 'feel like you have to read the book asap' and sticking with the potato theme, what about a Hot Potato? Love your Pod and hope you are still doing it when you are 80 and weathered all the things life bring you.
True deceiver has turned into a mash potato book for me because I bought it in summer and it's a winter book! His dark materials, the secret commonwealth, that's like a kettle book, I get excited to read it, and it's so long, I try so hard to finish it but my excitement runs out! I've tried twice now. I'm probs gonna get the audio book to help me out. But that's a hard cover I never read fast enough too.
For me, red or yellow flag books are any pseudoscience books or books from religious or political cults that are meant for people who believe in those things, not the kind that are meant for anthropologists or curious outsiders
Have y’all read Revenge of the Librarians by Tom Gauld? He is a cartoonist and he’s in The New Yorker a lot, it’s basically just book cartoons and genre puns. It’s very cute!
Books Unbound drama should be called “Biscuit Tea”

2019 was 5 years ago????
I know I’m like 😮😮😮😮😮
Happy 5 years! :)
Your episodes should be at least 2 hours long from now on.
Please and thank you.
1:08:53 Oooh. I’ve just planned to drive out to Haworth this coming Wednesday to visit the Brontë’s home! Very excited for it 😊
Happy anniversary!🥳I wish that Raeleen would move to Nova Scotia so we could have more videos like this one.😁

If you stopped reading the pod could be renamed 'Ideas Unbound'.
