Spot on! But when you reheat it in the pot, put your almonds and raisins in at this point - not in the mug. It will make it much more tasty, and the traditional way we do it in Denmark :-)
Btw your glögg doesnt have any alcohol in it, you boiled it. Here in finland we usually boild the glögg and then add some kind of booze in to it after the boiling.
Quick tip on the cardamom pods: Most Asian grocery stores will carry them. Used quite a bit in Indian and Vietnamese food. I buy most of my whole herbs/aromatics from a local Asian market. Saves a TON of money. Awesome video Jack, will def be trying in the near future! A Mulled Cider is also a great drink for the Winter!
If you have trouble finding certain spices try your local Arabic or Indian store. The Arabic store near me has a plethora of spices ( including cardamom pods ) at very low prices. If you live near a Trader Joe's around the holidays they will have vanilla beans as well.
I remember trying Mulled wine at a wedding years ago and ever since then I was hooked. It's nice to make it but sometimes I just don't have time so I buy some bottles already made up
This drink looks (and probably tastes) a lot like Sangría, it's a drink invented in Spain i think... Nice video Jack, glad to see you are bringing international dishes back !
Hello Jack Love your show! I check out your videos every day after work. Glad to see that you are making Scandinavian dishes. Remember to serve the "æbleskiver" with powdered sugar, and strawberry or raspberry jam. :) Dip the "æbleskiver" in the sugar, and then the jam. Bon appetite'.. Thats how we eat "æbleskiver" in Denmark :) Happy holidays from Mathias
You normally drink this relatively slowly, and eat the raisins with a spoon towards the end (at least how I do it). At that point they are quite soaked, but of course, drink it however you like it :)
Jonathan T no. It boiled only for a moment. Simmering doesn't remove all the alcohol. Then it's chilled and warmed. There is plenty of alcohol in this bad boy.
Hey, Jack! I just found your show last-night and I am addicted! Keep up the good work, your lazy man series is great for this engaged college student. Keep the uploads rolling out! Could you maybe tackle a turduckin? :D
This is a great recipe to help me survive the holidays with my family. You can get cardamom pods on Amazon, as they're on my wish list. Good luck finding them elsewhere. Thanks, Jack.
Scheefinator. Å dry vine is a more sour or bitter vine and yes you can use other types of dry vine for this recipe :-) thanks to Jack for this awesome Gløgg recipe. Its fun to see Scandinavian stuff being made in other countries as well :-D love and support from Norway :-D
In Denmark, they dont let it boil. Otherwise all the booze boils out---so then there would be no point of making it. ;) Also in Denmark, you add a good amount of Danish snaps (aquavit). Skål!
Could you use Red Moscato instead of Pinot Noir? I don't like that one. I have never had Zinfandel. Can someone describe that? What does it mean to be a DRY wine? Admittedly, I'm a terrible alcoholic, as in I don't know Jack and I don't really drink.
yo yo yo. The scandinavian method includes boiling it in order to release all the flavours in the gløgg. iwe usualyy add more alcohol at the end, once its boiled and serve it to maintain some alcohol in it. chill, yall will get your Ethanol!
It depends. Our family normally prepares gløgg with just red wine (no booze), so alcohol percent is down to around 8-10 percent, which is just a big beer. This year I'm going big though with the booze, so smaller servings doesn't sound that stupid again.
***** Scandinavia is a large region of Northern Europe that is mainly made up of the Scandinavian Peninsula. As such, it includes the countries of Norwayand Sweden. In addition, Denmark, Finland and Iceland are also included in Scandinavia.
Cooking With Jack Show We how live in Scandinavia include Sweden Norway and Denmark in Scandinavia. The bigger area tied together by cultural similarities should be called Norden or Nordic countries.
This is the perfect Christmas drink!
Spot on! But when you reheat it in the pot, put your almonds and raisins in at this point - not in the mug. It will make it much more tasty, and the traditional way we do it in Denmark :-)
You're not Scandinavian so it doesn't matter 😁😂
We spend Christmas at our winter cabin. I am thinking Glogg would be the perfect addition to our Christmas eve - thanks Jack.
Lyndsay Wells, The Kitchen Witch enjoy. Tammy had a whole mug of it when she got home. It warmed her right up
So awesome that you made glögg! The best holiday beverage I know. Greetings from Sweden
DonPedram this was so much fun to make
Btw your glögg doesnt have any alcohol in it, you boiled it. Here in finland we usually boild the glögg and then add some kind of booze in to it after the boiling.
In Sweden we call that "Spice:a till den" Spice it up
Zarde Monstersson you add more booze? hhahahaha I love you, my good, good people!
You never let it boil. Just heat it up and drink.
i wiuldnt boil it since that will evaporate the alcohol. You want to drink it warm, not hot
I love glogg! I grew up in Norway and we drink it all the time. They sell it at Ikea.
lol XD
I have been looking for the perfect video to make this. This is video was straight to the point and entertaining. Thank you!

dankon2 thanks for the shopping tip. I'll remember that
Oh how fun to see you drinking glögg! im from sweden and sitting with a cup of glögg right now! so.. SKÅL!! :)
Good job saying the word Jack! Merry Christmas from Norway.
If you have trouble finding certain spices try your local Arabic or Indian store. The Arabic store near me has a plethora of spices ( including cardamom pods ) at very low prices. If you live near a Trader Joe's around the holidays they will have vanilla beans as well.
There's even a Swedish word for the state of being slightly tipsy, jovial, and warm from glögg: glöggfryntlig.
Hey cool =) We do drink a lot of Glögg in the wintertime in Sweden! =)
Here is my Christmas episode part 1. Enjoy! ua-cam.com/video/vkNFqZQzNzY/v-deo.html
There used to be an Indian spice place in the Bicentennial Park Mall straight downtown that should have those pods.
Bobby B thanks. I'll take a look
I remember trying Mulled wine at a wedding years ago and ever since then I was hooked. It's nice to make it but sometimes I just don't have time so I buy some bottles already made up
Nice pronunciation on glögg, Jack! Way to go!
Warwian thanks
Yey glögg!
I always drink a cup of glögg before i go to bed during the winter :) !
Nice video Jack!
hi looks like a mulled wine recipe thank you for shearing and have a great christmas
This drink looks (and probably tastes) a lot like Sangría, it's a drink invented in Spain i think... Nice video Jack, glad to see you are bringing international dishes back !
Actually there is a huge difference between Sangria and Glögg. Sangria has a more fruity taste and flavor than glögg.
Hello Jack
Love your show!
Thats how we eat "æbleskiver" in Denmark :)
Happy holidays from Mathias
Mathias Petersen Thanks. I did powdered sugar and grape jelly. It's my favorite flavor. The were so amazing. You will see on Friday's episode.
Would the boiling get rid of (some of) the alcohol? I think I'd also want to put the raisins in earlier so they'd absorb some of the liquid...
UniversityOfTurmoil yes it does cook off some and yes, adding the raisins and the almonds into the reheating step would enhance the drink even more.
You normally drink this relatively slowly, and eat the raisins with a spoon towards the end (at least how I do it). At that point they are quite soaked, but of course, drink it however you like it :)
I really enjoy drinking store-bought "Glögi" ice-cold! Cheers from Finland :)
Does boiling it remove the alcohol content?
Hey Jack can you do a review on the miracle peeler. Thanks so much.
Skål! Swedish for Cheers! They also don't let it boil, that's alcohol abuse.
Cardamom pods easy to find at international grocery stores or "Indian" Grocery stores.
So this is now non alcoholic? The boilng kills the alcohol correct?
Jonathan T no. It boiled only for a moment. Simmering doesn't remove all the alcohol. Then it's chilled and warmed. There is plenty of alcohol in this bad boy.
Hey, Jack! I just found your show last-night and I am addicted! Keep up the good work, your lazy man series is great for this engaged college student. Keep the uploads rolling out! Could you maybe tackle a turduckin? :D
did that. here it is: ua-cam.com/video/3uCVSMoP2NE/v-deo.html
I usually add the strong liquor just before serving to get a little extra zing. :P
This is sooooo cool! i remember i wrote an email to you last year requesting this! :) so cool!!!
This is a great recipe to help me survive the holidays with my family. You can get cardamom pods on Amazon, as they're on my wish list. Good luck finding them elsewhere. Thanks, Jack.

Our priest would make this to loosen up the wallets at the Christmas Bizarre.
Heck yeah! Æbleskiver! - This is a rather extensive version of version of my family gløgg, but will definitely have to try this one this year.
Hey jack im from Denmark and i find it funny to hear u pronouncing danish words ;)
Skoal ?
I love to try to make this, but the ingredients are quite(very) expensive ==
Seems pretty similar to Glühwein :) Which is a German/Austrian hot spiced wine!
Glögg is usually stronger than Glühwine and served with raisins and nuts in it. I believe a more accurate German term for Glögg would be Punch.
In Denmark, they dont let it boil. Otherwise all the booze boils out---so then there would be no point of making it. ;) Also in Denmark, you add a good amount of Danish snaps (aquavit). Skål!
very nicely done. and yea we do like our æbleskiver here in denmark :D
“Cheers” in Scandinavian is, “Skol!” Thanks for the video!
Instead of orange zest it should be the zest (originally) from "bitter orange" also known as "Seville orange" and/or "pomeranian" - Skål!
Could you use Red Moscato instead of Pinot Noir? I don't like that one. I have never had Zinfandel. Can someone describe that?
What does it mean to be a DRY wine?
Admittedly, I'm a terrible alcoholic, as in I don't know Jack and I don't really drink.
dry means it has a dry mouth feel on the tongue. thats mostly for white wines
Swedish word for cheers is skål the å is pronounced like the o in orio
cardamom pods available at all Indian grocery stores
What are the point of the cloves
+Zen Shadows flavor
yo yo yo. The scandinavian method includes boiling it in order to release all the flavours in the gløgg. iwe usualyy add more alcohol at the end, once its boiled and serve it to maintain some alcohol in it. chill, yall will get your Ethanol!
Skål is cheers in Scandinavia
There must be a certain amount of alcohol that is lost because it evaporates around 173 degrees fahrenheit.
Cheers in Swedish is "skål"! SKÅL! :)
Malin Torstensson thank you. I know someone would teach me this. I'll try to remember.
Cooking With Jack Show It's the same in Norwegian! Remember Jack that the "å" is pronounced like the "o" in "orca".
Cheers in Swedish = Skål pronouced kinda like "Skoal"
But what about some lusse bullar
Amazing dude!
Normally you have small cups to glögg. Like espresso cups 😀
I've been doing it wrong then, since I'm using cafe latte glasses for it. 330mL or bust!
Wow! That is a lot! 10 cl is more normal.
It depends. Our family normally prepares gløgg with just red wine (no booze), so alcohol percent is down to around 8-10 percent, which is just a big beer.
This year I'm going big though with the booze, so smaller servings doesn't sound that stupid again.
Finally something from Denmark :D
Martin Wind Gløgg in Danish
From all Scandinavia.
i made my own glögg from scratch, delicious, strong and crhistmassy. :P
Do ''Feijoada Portuguesa'' :) It's a Portuguese dish :)
Brilliant! Looking forward to æbleskiver!
Alfred Müller thank you Alfred.
You said Glögg pretty good, most pepole say gleugg // Greetings from Sweden

It is pronounced Glugg. I think mince pies would be nice to have with it. I like mince pies with whipped cream on them.
'cause you said there were so many countries watching your video, I just want you know some Chinese are also watching your show too.
It's actually spelled "glögg" ;) And for some odd reason we celebrate christmas on the 24th haha
Actually a very great pronounciation!
Skål Jack! Enjoy :)
Never heard of this
Cheers is Skol.
Skål!
Sorry but u should never boil wine.. Just heat it up carefully =)
+Spikejonzon Yeah, the trick with Glogg is not to let it boil. Just keep it toasty.
Glögg!
Say Cheers with: “Skål!”
Glögg, you pronounced it right
Xataret thank you. I had to look it up. Didn't want to screw up again. hahaha
