Great job Jack! Those look amazing!! I made the sausage, bean and spinach soup. The hubby was wicked impressed and we've had it THREE TIMES since. It really is delicious! Thanks and holiday greetings to the whole Scalfamily!
Hi Jack. Good job on the "æbleskiver". Looks just like my grandma's. I Noticed you flipping them just a little bit at a time. Next time you make them, try flipping them all the way over, so the half globe points up. that way they will get cooked more evenly. :) Besides that, they looked perfect, and i could see the smile on your face, while tasting them. If that shows up, the taste must have bin spot on. Happy holidays, and a happy new year. Cant wait for more videos.
I really liked this video. You did everything carefully and really explained it well. I love the fact that you looked so enthusiastic at the end, it really made the video awesome and a lot of fun to watch :)
Hey Jack. Andreas from Denmark - Been following you since way back, i think the first video i saw was the lazy mans pizza(so that's quite a while ago) You absolutely knocked it out of the park with your æbleskiver, definitely did our danes justice! Thanks for trying out some of our traditional stuff. Merry Christmas from Denmark!
I love making these for my grandchildren! I let them choose what they want in the middle, apples, bananas, peaches or their favorite jelly or jam. I also use wooden skewers but I use 2 and they turn easily if you use the pointed ends.
Yay, a danish dish. If you want to try another danish favorite for the holidays, you should google Flæskesteg. It is a dish eaten the night of the 24th, where we celebrate Christmas. It is a pork roast with the skin all crispy, have it with regular boiled potatoes and brunede kartofler (Browned potatoes wich is just caramelised potatoes). Yum! Merry Christmas Jack, or as we say here in Denmark Glædelig Jul
Looks so delicious. Im not a fan of Æbleskriver, but they always look good and is just a part of Christmas - just like Glögg. Cheers and Skål from Denmark :)
From a proud dane. This was almost perfect, you only need to flip them once, then they will be completely round. I'm always serving my æbleskiver with caster sugar and raspberry jam.
Cooking With Jack Show Well now you got someone from the NW washington watching, Just found this today, I'll be sharing your channel amongst my friends and young adults... Keep it up! :)
Cooking With Jack Show Didnt know that, cool! :D guess we scandinavians love to watch american food shows.. i enjoy it cause it is not michelin food, but food for everyone
HA! i wan't expecting you to do something danish! They look perfect, you did good Jack. :) Try flipping them all the way around the first time. Thumbs up from Denmark.
You really did nail it Jack. The only thing to say is, that traditionally there were small bits of apple inside of the æbleskrivers. Æble actually means apple :D But to be honest, if you buy premades æbleskrivers there's not any apple in them anymore, so to your excuse it has actually come out of style :)
+Cooking With Jack Show If we bother with making them fresh here in DK we will put a bit of apple in them. It becomes very similar to your apple kritters. By the way it is æbleskiver (plural) no s in the end there(big ups for trying though:-))
It depends I would say, in our familie we never use apples in them, and that tradition goes back 4-5 generations. I don't actually know anyone that puts slices of appels into theirs.
Looks like they turned out good. One thing I would recommend is to NOT spray oil from an aerosol can to a pan thats on an open flame. Also, try adding the egg whites in 1/3's, and the first third you can be rougher with, just to get it initially mixed in. Then be gentler and fold the other 2/3's in, in 2 parts if you wish. Although, those instructions may be more for when the mixture is thicker, not loose like the batter was.
Hey Jack!!! I saw your Video about Glögg, I could send you a bottle "Real" scandinavian Glögg from the leading Glögg brand in Sweden. And "Lussekatter", lussekatter/lussebullar is a bread kind'a'thing you eat it often during the holidays. Greetings Lucas (Sorry for bad english)
I've seen those pans at junk stores, thought they were for meatballs. This looks good, and fun to make for kids. I'd like the diced apple cinnamon filling, sort of like apple fritters, Luvs apple fritters.
Jack this is very similar to the japanese food Takoyaki, which is a savory snack. The technique you use in this video is the same! You should look it up some time .
Looks good, well done :D If you're gonna consider making another danish christmas dessert sometime, consider making 'risalamande' ^w^ the name is french but its some danish stuff :) tastes rly good, kinda a rice-pudding dessert!
Scheefinator Glogg is a Scandinavian drink. See the video before this one and I show how to make it. It's an alcoholic beverage that they drink leading up to Christmas.
It is funny you think us Dane's will be offended. most of os do not even know have to make æbleskiver. normely people buy æbleskiver frozen in bags. but it is really easy to make them youself:)
I have one of those pans and didn't know what to do with it. Thanks for the demo!
Great job Jack! Those look amazing!! I made the sausage, bean and spinach soup. The hubby was wicked impressed and we've had it THREE TIMES since. It really is delicious! Thanks and holiday greetings to the whole Scalfamily!

From a proud dane. This was almost perfect, you only need to flip them once, then they will be completely round.

Allan Søgaard Larsen yeah. raspberry jam is the best. I didn't have any. Merry Christmas Allan.
Awesome jack. Homemade is always better than storebought.
Have you noticed the ammount of danes following you?
Kim Busschow did you know Sweden is one of my top countries that watches the show. That's why I did these two videos.
Cooking With Jack Show Well now you got someone from the NW washington watching, Just found this today, I'll be sharing your channel amongst my friends and young adults... Keep it up! :)

Frederik Stentoft I was going to but some Swedish friends said that many don't do it with the apples anymore.
It's very true. It's very uncommon :D

Merry Christmas Jack!
It kinda looks like "Oliebollen" that we have here in the Netherlands.
Usualy those are only maked for New years eve. and a little bit for christmass
This cooking technique is kinda like making tako-yaki (Japanese octopus balls). But I'm sure it tastes different... ;)
+Critical Hit Oh yes.. Æbleskiver tastes like normal pancakes with cardemum and cinnamon :)
Im from denmark, it looks great but in the name, there har not a 's' it's just 'æbleskiver' :)
WhatDaPezzCharite whoops. sorry. I changed the title so the video just is incorrect.
1 æbleskive, 2 or more æbleskiver :)
Now you can call it the " Smiling with Jack Show ".... :-)

It is funny you think us Dane's will be offended. most of os do not even know have to make æbleskiver. normely people buy æbleskiver frozen in bags. but it is really easy to make them youself:)
I don't know why it's called ÆbleskiverS with an S, in danish it's 1 Æbleskive and 2 Æbleskiver. Don't know when they added the S at the end :)
(Æbleskiver) (DK Æble = Apple Eng) (DK Skiver = slices Eng)
If YOU are not a CHEF..YOU Should BE!!!!!
Matt Stonie ate 87 of those in 8 minutes.
i like the videos but every time i see you crack an egg it pisses me off just use the side of the bloody bowl!
